The rooms and buildings are in dire need of repair. The sliding glass door was difficult to close and the glass had gaps that the hot air could get through to the room. The place is huge and you do ALOT of walking. The website doesn't tell you that their is not an elevator (unless you upgrade to Indigo and that elevator didn't work most of the time we were there. On the plus side the employees are awesome! Always smiling and friendly and willing to do what they can to make your stay enjoyable. Bottom line - In my opinion it's overpriced, food is adequate but not great. Would we come back - No.

The hotel is actually much smaller than what it appears in pictures. There is only one main buffet area and it’s about half-the size of a typical all-inclusive resort in Playa. As a result lineups are everywhere and wait times could be long, especially for restaurants if you don’t have a reservation. The beach is ok. It’s quite nice for walking in both directions, but since this portion of the beach is wide open (no reef of any kind to break the waves) swimming is not fun - near zero visibility due to murky water (waves kicking up the sand). But overall it’s a nice and clean resort, everything is within a fairly short walking distance. Quite a few activities for kids (water slides, archery, trampoline, games room, some shows during the day in addition to the usual shows at night etc) so we enjoyed our stay.

Very open concept facility, so there are very limited places to stay cool. All restaurant were lacking AC, so be prepared to adapt in tropical weather clothing! Otherwise, food is amazing and water slides are definitely a plus to stay!

Wow!!! Where do I start? The beach was littered with a hill of seaweed the water was murky. This resort doesn’t let you make reservations for the restaurants everything besides Hibachi is first come first serve. We basically ate buffet style all week because the lines and wait were insane. The pool area never has towels available. People hold chairs with multiple towels it’s ridiculous how you have to fight for a chair. The resort is pitch black at night when walking back to your rooms. The lighting is minimal. Doesn’t make you feel safe at all. The jungle like greenery around the resort is not well kept. The resort has these rodents similar to raccoons that run around near common areas. I did see people feeding these rodents so I know that makes it worst. They are gross and it’s alot of them. The furniture decor is extremely old dated. The sofas were visibly soiled and reminded me of antique grandma’s furniture. The pool staff are sweet & full of energy but please get them a microphone. They have to scream across the pool to get guest engaged in activities. It is difficult to understand and hear them at times. Resort kinda boring lacks thinks to do and energy. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Though the staff was friendly. I had multiple issues with room service getting order wrong and on 1 occasion waited over 2 hours for room service. Couldn’t use the beach because of the seaweed & every day of my 5 night stay at least one if not 2 of the restaurants were closed at an all inclusive. Also pools close at 5pm with at least 3 hours left of sun especially with the beach being unusable is really horrible. On a scale of 1-10 the food was a 6 at best.

The property itself is very beautiful, unfortunately the beach was not. Though they were cleaning it up the state that I saw the beach in was unacceptable. Especially since there were other sections on the same beach that were a lot cleaner. Additionally who ever is in charge of the events planning, if they could please put in place something native to Mexico. The views from the Sky Bar/Infinity pool are absolutely breathtaking definitely worth the additional $60.00.

Positives first: The staff was amazing. They were all extremely friendly and helpful and were the best part of the resort. The food in all restaurants, except Barefoot Grill, was above average. They had great programs and activities for kids all day and night long. Negatives: The Preferred Customer upgrade was useless. The only thing it did was give access to a separate lounge. All other amenities that were listed as PC only were openly available to all guests. The grounds were not well-maintained and there was trash strewn about the ground at all times. The gym/fitness room was very small any weight-lifting equipment was old and barely functional.

We stayed at this resort, and I was not informed that we were landing in the middle of the jungle. I found a lizard and cockroaches in my room and had to call room service to remove them. There was animal feces on the stairs of our building, and when we complained, the response was, “It’s outside your building.” Be prepared to encounter raccoons in the main buffet area and iguanas near the pool. The front desk staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Guadalupe, in particular, does not know how to treat customers with respect. She told us, “You are in the middle of the jungle — it’s normal.” I didn’t know I had paid for a four-star resort that feels more like a jungle. The ocean is full of seaweed, and the entire property smells terrible. I will not return to this resort, and I do not recommend it to anyone

I like the amount of dining options. The service was great. My room was a terrible experience. The first thing we noticed was the dirty green lounge chair on the patio. Then our ceiling was leaking. You could see visible bubbling of the paint. The staff painted over the leak. The next day black spot appeared and bubbling returned. Then came the smell of mildew. You couch smelled of mildew. The couch pillows smelled of mildew. The bad linen and our clothes smelled damp and wet. It was very hard to sleep at night because the air conditioning caused throat irritation and mucous build up. By the forth night we were offered another room but it was already our last night. The mosquitos on the resort were terrible. It was hard to enjoy the swim out because they were so abundant. Coming home I have almost 20 itch mosquito bites. I was offered a free upgrade for my future stay but I will never visit this resort again or recommend it so I will not need that. For the price and the room discomfort, it was very expensive and not worth the price.

Pros: -Staff were friendly (Hector at front desk & Manni at the preferred club bar were great). -Did not have to wait at any dining establishments and food was decent. -Pool was nice and located right off the beach. -Swim out room was nice, modern & located just off the main pool. -Very few off-site individuals on the beach offering items for sale. -The staff did a good job of quickly removing old plates and cups to avoid attracting any animals or birds. -A decent amount of kids activities between the water slides, trampoline, game room & kids splash area. Cons: -The Air Conditioning in our room would not get below 75 degrees (temperatures out side were in the mid 80's). Despite 3 attempts to get this fixed the staff was not able to fix it. I was offered a free upgrade on my next stay at this resort only in the next 6 months for my trouble. -The water slides can be rough. Many in our party experience bumps and scratches from use. -Room service took on average an hour and a half whether it was 6 am or 6 pm and often was missing items and utensils. -There was quite a bit of Sorghum grass on the beach. The resort attempted to rake it with a tracker but it was not very effective. -Pool towels are in short supply here. Several times there were no towels available for hours. We found ourselves getting towels the previous day for the next morning. -The gym equipment was extremely rusty and dated.

Run down property seems like an old time share. Furniture is decent in rooms but ac seems to be old and not good enough to keep the rooms cool and with low humidity. The algae problem makes it not worth it to visit during algae season and definitely not worth paying a room upgrade because you are in front of the beach with the stank of rotting algae. Major issues with property are ac in rooms not working properly and no elevators. Service of course is amazing, it is Mexico!!!…the property is just not in line with the quality of people they have

We just recently returned from a trip to Dreams Sapphire and overall had a nice time. We stayed in one of the oceanside swim out suites, which was very nice. The pool itself had a nice set up and you are able to receive drink service while using your pool. We were all little surprised at the overall size of the resort. It is on the smaller size, so paying for the preferred club upgrade is worth it. You receive access to additional pools and a bar/lounge area that has snacks throughout the day, as well as breakfast foods. The staff did a great job keeping everything very clean, however we did have to call to ask for cleaning services in our room, as well as calling to ask for a mini-bar restock after a few days. One disappointing factor was the food for dinner. Compared to other resorts we have stayed at, the food was very underwhelming.

After we upgraded to a swim out room, we were much happier and I highly recommend them! The food at the Italian and Japanese restaurants were the best! The big pool was always popping and played great music! The resort needs some updating and much needed air condition in the buffet room. We were happy but we will stay somewhere else if we return to Mexico.

Unfortunately, my experience at this resort has been quite disappointing. The property is poorly maintained, and the photos on their website are clearly outdated. I’ve never been to a beach resort where the pool is the preferred over the beach. The beach was filled with seaweed. The beach was nearly empty throughout the three days I was here. Service has also been underwhelming, with the exception of Carlos at the Preferred pool area, who was courteous and attentive. Having stayed at several Dreams Resorts in the Cancun area, I can confidently say this is by far the worst one. As an Expedia VIP, I was not acknowledged at check-in and received none of the benefits I was entitled to. On my 2nd day, I went to the Barefoot Grill at 4:37 p.m. to request a hotdog. Wendy told me the grill was closed—even though it doesn’t close until 5 p.m. Only after I reminded her of the posted hours did she serve me. The food overall was disappointing and not on par with the quality I’ve experienced at other Dreams properties. However, I’ll say Bordeaux was good and it is the best restaurant onsite. The rooms were outdated and need of upgrades. My smoke detector flashed continuously throughout the night, and when I reported it, I was told it was “normal.” Try sleeping with a flashing light in your room all night. I was also told by Victor that I’d receive a welcome amenity and a birthday sash for my door, which I never received. If you’re considering this resort, be prepared for lower quality.

The hotel was okay. Staff was pleasant and facilities were good. The one thing I did not like was the upgraded package which made no difference but cost more. It didnt really feel premium and a lot of persons were using preferred access spaces without having preferred status- could have saved me 200USD. Also didn’t appreciate that the upgrade was non-refundable…it feels a bit tricky. Anyway, generally a decent stay. 7/10.

I booked through Expedia as a VIP. I emailed them asking for early check in and a room upgrade twice because they sent me three emails stating they would discount a room upgrade by 25% and early check in at 7 am for $100. We get to the hotel at 12:15 pm and we got none of that. We went to eat and walked around and then came back. Still no room. I told them I didn't need a room upgrade, we just wanted to get in the room. Their check-in starts at 3 pm and our room was finally ready at 2:45 pm. Not good service. The "upgrade" was a view of a building and a few trees. It was the very furthest building from the amenities and I had two children with me so it was super inconvenient.

Nice trip and we had a great time. Room, staff and food were all good! I have been to this resort several times and always find it be fantastic. Alberto - World Cafe, is just a wonderful person. Very nice and always happy. Resilly -Portofino, best waitress in the resort. Professional, pleasant and made our dining experience perfect (actually ate there 3 times). We had the Preferred Package and spent our days at the Adult Pool. The Adult Pool was just not the same without Jose! Jose has been at the Adult Pool for the last several years and was moved to another location. A few guests that I recognized from previous years, and new guests that we met, all commented the same - they missed Jose. Please bring Jose back to the Adult Pool! Thank you for a nice visit.

This our thrid trip to Dreams Sapphire and i will keep it very real here. The staff is the hardest working, always smiling group of people. There kids club is hamds down the best im cancun. The rooms are very clean and house keeping comes three times a day if you let them. This place is the real deal and i am not just saying this. I am speakimg from experience. We have been to cancun 30 times in the last 10 years. Have tried all over cancun, isla mujres, and play del carmen. Dreams shine way above the rest.

We mentioned during the checking that we are VIP. We do not received any VIP access. I have a neuropathy and mention to the person during the checking because own room was very far to walk. He did not care. Very arrogant. The area is far, no elevators, and dark during the night. The place need to improve especially the desk employees

I recently stayed at this resort, and while the housekeeping, room service, bell boys, and front desk staff were amazing, the management was completely awful. The ladies in the coffee shop were amazing and very friendly. Firstly, you need to make reservations for dinner only to be told it’s first come, first serve when you arrive. The buffet by the pool denied us entry because we weren't in proper attire. A tank top and swimming shorts aren't proper attire for a buffet near the pool? Make it make sense! The bartenders felt entitled, even after receiving a tip. A waiter even told me I had to tip him if I wanted him to bring me a drink. This is definitely not a 5-star resort, and for the price, it was a complete waste of money. Stay away. The rooms smelled like mold, the air conditioning didn’t work, and there were bugs in the room. One of the best experiences was playing with the local cats. The beach water was filthy—I thought an alligator would pop out at any moment. To give some credit to Hyatt, this is seaweed season and they did attempt to clean it everyday. To top it off, my entire family ended up with a bad stomach bug. Another issue is people reserving beach chairs with towels and not showing up until noon. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Staff were excellent. Very friendly and attentive. A few small issues were resolved very quickly. Checking in and out was quick and easy. Plenty of food options and their open air taco stand in the evening was terrific. My only real criticism is the prices in shops and newstand are incredibly high and a taxi to town is $50 US roundtrip. But we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this resort.

This was our 3rd time at Sapphire. We keep coming back primarily because of the staff. They are AWESOME! Everyone were consistently friendly, attentive and do an incredible job of drawing you into the daily activities. Food was above average. Nothing spectacular but this is a reasonably priced all-inclusive resort. You want fancy/high end, might look at an "a la carte option. (That said, their chicken wings and all food at Bordeaux were great!) For those of us who like to get back to a quiet room at a reasonable hour, we really appreciate that the pool and beach areas were quiet by 8-9pm. Sapphire offers free guided bike rides daily into Puerto Morelos which is always a great trip and highly recommend doing. Just make sure you arrive by the waiting area 15-20 minutes early to make sure you get on the list as they are limited by number of available bikes. We stayed in a preferred club, ocean front room with a jacuzzi tub on the balcony. Room was clean. View was great and we truly enjoyed our morning time watching the sunrise from the tub! Housekeeping had the room cleaned/reset each morning by around 9am. The beaches were constantly being maintained and seaweed cleared. Sapphire was one of the cleanest shorelines. Being our 3rd trip (my wife, me and 3 "children" ranging from 20-22 yrs old), we left already talking about next time! Shout outs to some memorable staff: Wendy Pedro in the World Cafe, Dave in the lobby and Ricky, Joe and Mar with Entertainment.

Resort is great for family and just adults only. I would just make note that they really push marketing Hyatt, so if they offer you “gifts” or complimentary options if you attend a breakfast at another hotel, it’s all marketing related. But we did get a free spa, and free romantic dinner

This was a beautiful resort. However, the beach was going to be my favorite part but the seaweed on the beach was AWFUL and the smell was worse. We paid for an upgrade for ocean view but the beach smelled and we couldn't even walk on it. It's not the resorts fault but it was disappointing.

The hotel was a short drive from the airport. I loved the nature paths to the rooms, as well as the big pool with enough space for everyone. The resort never felt crowded. The food options were great. Despite being an all-inclusive, the drinks were actually good. Also very family friendly!

Do not believe pics of ocean. It is NOT aqua & beautiful. It’s gross. Dark, muddy, & stinks. A snickers bar was $8. Sunscreen was $39. Resort was pretty good, except our room was not cool. Requested a fan but never got one. Pool was awesome! Food was really good. Staff was helpful and nice. I give it a 3 or 4.

This resort was very family friendly. Lots of activities to do - for both adults and kids! The beach was nice - not the cleanest in terms of biological matter. Lots of walking to get places as it is a large resort. Overall - would recommend if you are looking for a safe place to stay in Mexico.

Property is very large, area is not walkable so expect getting a taxi or staying at the resort. Beach was not great, seaweed was not cleaned and water was murky. Food was not tasty and drinks were weak. Among good stuff the swimming pools were enormous and the larger pool had the bar in it. Hotel had live music and some other entertainment at night which was nice. Overall not bad experience but if you prefer quieter and more relaxing experience at the beach not your cup of tea.

We enjoyed our stay at Dreams Sapphire. It was a nice, quiet resort with plenty of amenities to meet our needs. There were multiple food options, but we stuck with the World Cafe or the outdoor buffet for most of our dinners since we are not into fancy dining. We did eat at the hibachi one night, which was nice. The beach access was wonderful, as it was just steps away from the resort. The water activities provided on the beach were a nice benefit that we have not gotten at other places. It was easy to book our excursions at the resort where we were able to get a description of each excursion from an actual person and not rely on an online description. The only complaint we have would be the roads were terrible leading to the resort, but I don't think this is a resort problem, as the roads were terrible everywhere that we went on this trip. We will definitely look into this place or another Dreams Resort the next time we plan a vacation.

The beach had a lot of seaweed built up on beaches. It was not a very nice beach at all. The pictures were misleading. Although we understand it was low season, the bars closed early and only certain restaurants were open each night without warning as to which would be closed. This made planning where to go difficult. The buffet was also fairly minimal with poor options. The staff were great though and we had a very enjoyable excursion. The beach bar is also great but it took us a few days to find it.

What can I say about Dreams Sapphire? It holds a special place in my heart because my husband and I got married there! We have been there a total of 3 times and we love it just as much each time. The property is stunning, and the staff is amazing! We've been to a lot of all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and I think the food here is better than most! We ate the buffet for most meals and it was always good. The Italian restaurant is amazing as well! The pool is so much fun! The entertainment team is awesome at what they do! They keep everyone entertained and engaged with music and games. And we love the swim up bar of course. 10/10 recommend! Can't wait til next time!

The service was amazing! Really liked the indigo section, preferred club pool, and the rooms. The food was average and the ocean was not swimmable (unless you enjoy swimming in seaweed) due to seaweed. The Italian restaurant was my favorite. They had great entertainment and kids activities

I have celiac and i am vegetarian. There were so many gluten free options to choose from. Gluten free muffing, cookies and cakes in the Revive bar. They are aware about cross contamination. Chef made me gluten free nachos and gluten free pizza. This is the first ever vacation when i didnt lose any weight :) place was beautiful and clean. So peaceful. Not too crowded. highly recommended

I saw the bad reviews before going to Dreams Sapphire but thought it was just picky people complaining. Unfortunately, I was wrong—they were absolutely right. The food quality was awful across almost all the restaurants. The only decent meal we had was at the Japanese restaurant and a late-night taco cart, which also had the only friendly service. Everywhere else, we had to wait nearly two hours to get a table, and the staff was rude and unaccommodating. The hotel itself is very old and run-down. The pool is in bad shape, with broken tiles and poor maintenance. We paid extra for the Preferred Club (Indigo), thinking it would be worth it, but it was a complete waste of money—especially if you’re traveling with kids. Most of the “upgraded” facilities are adults-only, so families get no real benefit. In short: Don’t go. There are far better hotels in Mexico.

Food options were limited, restaurants were always full, buffet was OK not great. Very little authentic Mexican food. AC was turned off in one of the restaurants during dinning Dining took two hour wait. Alcohol tasted watered down and not brand name. The best food was outside…. They would serve tacos in a taco stand outside of the restaurants.

I really the VIP access thanks to Expedia. The resort was beautiful but the food wasn't the best. The resort doesn't offer your typical bacon and sausage for breakfast. We end up getting breakfast at the preferred club or ordered room service. The restaurants on the resort doesn't offer reservation. It's first come first serve basis except Teppanyaki. They only take reservations for the Teppanyaki Chef's. Which was booked every day during our stay which sucked. The buffet serves the same food everyday. The resort had a terrible smell. From my understanding it was seaweed season, I'm not 100% sure if that was the reason. We also couldn't enjoy the beach because of the seaweed. It was close. If you like the beach, you won't be able to utilize it. I reserved 3 rooms for my kids and mom. I upgraded all rooms to the rooms with the jacuzzi on the balcony and ocean front. The Jacuzzi's were disgusting! I wanted to downgrade to our previous rooms but that no longer an option because they weren't available. Our family vacation was ok overall but 2 of my kids were ready o come home after 2 days at the resort.

We like everything at this resort this is our second time staying here. For us everything was a short walking distance from our room to the main lobby area, main bar and preferred club lounge. The staff was amazing and very friendly. I will say if you don't get to the restaurant's early when they open at 6, you will be put on a waiting list and that wait could be anywhere from an hour to an hour and half. Food was ok. Nightly entertainment was ok. Seaweed was manageable some days better than others but they do try and keep it at a minimum. Weather was great the whole time.

This was our first Dreams all-inclusive resort, although we’ve been to many others resorts in Cancun. This was my least favourite of all my experiences. Given this brand is considered a 4.5 star, it surely didn’t feel it. Cons: - We were a group of 34 and our hotel rooms were scattered across the resort, no attempt to keep us clustered even though the booking was made all together. When asked the front desk staff responded, we have too many groups. - The steak house - worst dining experience of all the al a carte restaurants. The food at the steakhouse was sub par. We found hair in the food on two different plates. The service was also not great, rude and inattentive waiter. - Pool towels. Get your towels early. One day there was a 3 hour wait to get towels. - Room towels, we were a family of 4 and they consistently only left 2 new towels when they cleaned the room. We had to call down daily for extra towels. On two occasions we were told that they were out of towels and the hotel was too busy so we had to share wet towels after showers. - We had quite a few vegetarians in out group and the options at the resort were limited. - I’m truly surprised at how small the restaurants were given the shear size of the resort and number of guest rooms. Some nights if you showed up at 6:45 you wouldn’t be able to get into a restaurant other than the buffet. - Buffet, the lunch buffet was the best. It was kid friendly. The wait times for the restaurants were excessively long. The time to go for short wait times is not until 8:30 pm. Rush hour for restaurant starts at 5:30 pm.
