Ekra Glacier Lagoon

This was my most expensive hotel stay during my trip to Iceland and I was really disappointed. I don't understand why it cost so much when there isn't any staff on site and they don't even have enough parking. Three cars took up the available spots and we had to park just in the lane. There was only one car charger and some jerk kept it the whole time we were there. Plus every time someone walked up the stairs to go to their room they just stared into ours like we were zoo animals on display.

We stayed at Ekra for 2 nights and it was super cozy. We stayed in Room 4 on the second floor of the property. Getting to the property was easy and as it’s very well marked and there are other cabins/guesthouses in the area so it’s not desolate. The property is also across the street (down the road) from its sister hotel, Hotel Jökulsárlón where you can make use of their breakfast for a fee of 7000IKR. It’s a good breakfast, but gets busy fast so go early. When we arrived our room was lacking towels, but we found someone who worked for the property that got us towels within minutes. One thing to note, the phone number provided for the sister hotel was not working when we stayed. Unsure if that’s because it’s the wrong number or what, but we were unable to call Hotel Jökulsárlón should we have needed anything else. That said, the views are incredible. Parking was easy. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional with great hot water, but we would have liked a shelf or two to put our toiletries down somewhere. There is a mini fridge as well as an electric kettle (tea bags and coffee provided) but no microwave. Overall a great stay! We’d highly recommend it for anyone in the area. It’s close to the glacier boat tours and hikes out east, and we even made a trip to Hofn easily. There was also two waterfalls right behind our room!

We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip in December. As there is no staff on site, the check-in instructions were sent in advance via email. The room was comfortable with good heating. The only issue we had was with the water pressure during the 2 days. It was abysmal. The property is a 15-minute drive from the Jökulsárlón glacier. The proximity helps when you are tired after doing a day's activity at the glacier. The room is quite spacious and has a couple of chairs and two tiny coffee tables. Overall it's a good place to stop while on the way to Hofn.

Our radiator/heater didn't work and I called them. They have someone bring in another heater within minutes and reset the power to our room. The bathroom is the most beautiful bathroom i've seen ever in a hotel room.

A wonderful room with everything you’d require, other tan a bar fridge. Working out where to park was difficult but this could be due to it being very dark upon arrival and our having driven several hundred kilometres to get there.

There’s no water in the morning as water supply works differently in the mountains. Had we know we would have saved some water the night before

Property is motel style where you enter your room from the outside. We stayed for two nights and we didn’t have water on the second day. Spoke to other people staying and they also didn’t have water — very disappointing and inconvenient. Property is advertised to have sound proof walls but we could still hear other people. Property is located on a dark path and also at the top of a very sloped narrow gravel driveway with no curb. If you’re arriving late and leaving early when it’s dark (winter time) becareful and drive with caution.

The room was as advertised. There was no staff which was nice since a lot of hotels have check in ending at 8 pm. The parking situation was confusing since there are only three spots but I called the emergency number and the gentleman instructed us to park anywhere as long as it doesn't block the cars and views of the guests.

Extremely clean and updated property. Our room was super cozy and perfectly heated when we got there. The bathroom is like a spa! Heated floors and stunning shower. Also, super close the glacier lagoon and diamond beach!

Other than very confusing parking it was a nice stays

One of the best hotels we stayed at in Iceland! Incredible views of the glacier and surrounding mountains. Check-in process was very smooth and the room was very clean, modern, recently renovated. I wish we would have stayed here for a few more days. Highly recommend!

Great views from the guesthouse. Rooms were cleaned and well stocked. Beds were comfortable.

Peaceful and Quiet, Clean , In the middle of nature near waterfall!

Room is a bit dark. Floor wasn’t clean when we check-in and there is a bad smell. The view in front and behind the room is gorgeous.

El lugar está muy bonito y tiene una gran vista para auroras boreales. Está muy cerca del glaciar y es muy cómodo para cuando tienes actividades ahí cerca. Todo estaba bien, excepto la jarra para calentar agua estaba sucia u llena de café. Seguro un pequeño descuido en la limpieza porque lo demás estaba muy limpio.

The Ekra was very clean and comfortable. The no contact check in was smooth, we found our room with no issues and used the emailed code to access. The location is stunning with amazing views from all of the rooms and a waterfall right behind the hotel.

Amazing spacious accommodation in beautiful location. Spotlessly clean, great shower, very comfortable beds. Great communication with the host. Will definitely book again and would highly recommend

This is a nice place to stay. Very spacious room. Great views of the ocean. I would stay here again, for sure.

Loved having coffee and a French press to make it. The room was very clean and new, but way too hot at checkin. Leave the heat down low for the guest.

Such a lovely place to stay and in an amazing location with awesome views. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We loved the toiletries provided in the bathroom. To eat its only a short drive to cafes or restaurants nearby. Diamond Beach is just a few minutes drive too. Behind the property is a scenic waterfall which is well worth a short hike. We loved staying here and will definitely be back.

Localisé dans un très bel endroit à flan de colline avec une très belle vue. Par contre un peu isolé, et il n'y a pas de cuisine dans la guest house. Pour le check-in, nous n'avons reçu aucune information, et nous avons dû appeler pour avoir le numéro de la chambre et le code pour récupérer la clé. En hiver, la voie d'accès étant pas mal enneigée, ça peut poser problème à certains véhicules. Concernant la chambre, elle est jolie, propre et très comfortable. Manque quand même de quoi poser les bagages. La télé connectée était un plus. L'isolation phonique avec les voisins était bonne. Par contre le balcon est commun, ce qui signifie que les autres hôtes passent devant les fenêtres de la chambre. NB: l'éclairage du balcon est très cosy quand on arrive, mais un peu gênant le soir pour regarder le ciel.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with my stay in this room. From the moment I walked in, everything felt fresh, clean, and thoughtfully prepared. The room was spacious and well-lit, with a modern yet cozy design that made it feel like a home away from home. Every detail had been considered—from the incredibly comfortable bed and soft linens to the blackout curtains that made for a restful night’s sleep. The room had all the essentials and then some: a mini fridge, coffee maker, charging ports by the bed, strong Wi-Fi, and a smart TV with streaming options. The bathroom was spotless, with plush towels, great water pressure, and high-quality toiletries.

Self check-in property, easy and clear instructions were given. I had a superior room with view on mountains. It's was outstanding. Although the room is brand new and well decorated, you know someone thought of design first and less of customer experience. Location was excellent and away enough from the ring road so you get all the peace and quiet. No closet, poor lighting, no working table...parking is unclear since you feel like you're driving in someone's driveway. But hey when you spend that much on a room, expectations are a little higher!

This was hands down the best stay during our whole trip! The host Elli was very accommodating with check in and check out time and process. The room has blackout blinds so you have no problem falling asleep in summertime. The beds were the most comfortable we slept on during this trip!!! I wish we had more time to stay here!

Had a slight mixup with the room while checking in but it was my mistake I went to the wrong property. Once that got sorted out everything was excellent.

The location is good. However, it is like a B&B facility. No service desk. The customer support seems cold and un-helpful. Also, there is not enough table space in the bathroom or in the room for guests to perform necessary functiions

The room i booked it was cottage and they provided me the lock number. It didnt work & I noticed someone's bag was in the room. I went to main hotel & informed them. They talked with their manager & gave me a room in the main hotel. But After 2hr they came back to me and asking for extra money, other wise I have to go back to that cottage. And the manager was so rude on this. Even other employees were feeling ashamed about it but it happened. And it was around 10pm, they did this. This is the worst property anyone, shouldnt go there.

Never was told what unit , waited outside for hours until I was told by another person that I can get information from the sister hotel

This self check-in property is very nice and the sister property across the street is the best looking hotel I have come across on this trip.

I was unable to check in. There is no reception and I did not get instructions to the lock box. I did however got multiple emails saying that I should have received the instructions. The phone number listed on the email and o. The website did not respond.

The self checkin was quick and easy. Room was very clean with a small refrigerator and coffee and tea supplies. Perfect location to stay when visiting Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon.

Great location for our one-night stay. Note that the area is fairly dark, and initially we had some trouble finding the house. There are two properties visible when you reach the end of the driveway. We were a little confused about which way to turn. However, once we were "in" we were very pleased with our stay.

You need transportation to book this hotel . The views and location is great . Parking included . Close to the glacier . Will recommend

Excellent location near Glacier Lagoon. Easy to find and very nice room and beautiful view. Outside patio available to sit with morning coffee.

Ekra Glacier Lagoon was a really nice place for us to stay near Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach. The setting was gorgeous with a bunch of waterfalls right behind our room! It's set back away from the road, so it was very quiet and peaceful. The bed was super comfortable and had firm and soft pillows to choose from. The room was clean and had a mini fridge, kettle, french press, with coffee, tea, sugar and creamer. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit the South Coast of Iceland. Thank you for providing such a nice and comfortable place to stay! :)

Die Unterkunft war sehr gut. Mit der Einrichtung und der Aussicht waren wir sehr zufrieden. Man sollte nur bedenken, dass es etwas abgelegen ist und es nur ein Museumsrestaurant in der Nähe gibt, ansonsten muss man 50km weiter fahren. Für eine Nacht war es aber ganz gut.

Die Unterkunft befindet sich im Nirgendwo. Es gibt kaum Restaurants in der Gegend. Das Zimmer war sehr gut und schön. Nah zum Gletscher.

Very clean room with amazing views. Quiet location. There are no shops nearby but the hotel is a 20 min walk away. Best to come prepared with food options. There is a fridge but no real storage, not a problem for us but might be for some.

This property was very clean and modern updates. Lots of amenities. We had dinner at the hotel (sister property) and it was really expensive but absolutely delicious! There were some refreshments in the fridge but I wasn't sure if they were free so we didn't drink them. Probably the best nights sleep I've had this whole trip!

ホテルというよりコテージ。周りは静かで美しい自然囲まれて癒されるが、レストランもなく、近くの姉妹ホテルまで行く必要がある。姉妹ホテルまでの送迎をお願いしたが断られた。レストランもキッチンもないなら電子レンジは部屋に必要だと思う。

This was the perfect spot to stay to see highlights of southern Iceland. Would absolutely come back.Beautifull room and views, easy to find and park. But temperamental was the hot water, which wouldn't normally be a problem for us except we were freezing after a rainy day. Wish there was a shared kitchen for the guests - as dining is hard to come by in the area and it would add value to guests.

The view and location is unbeatable. Unbelievably beautiful. Bring cold food or ramen that can cook with hot water! There was no restaurant on site (as advertised-unless I misread) and the room is not really set up to cook anything other than coffee. Suggestion for the host: set up a small table and provide at least two plates and flatware. The coffee provided was lovely, but no spoons to stir sugar or creamer:( Super comfy beds but torn and rough towels.

A lovely room in a location convenient to the glacier and beach. The views are beautiful, especially the waterfall on the back side of the property which was visible from our shower. The area is not very close to gas and food options, but the hotel across the street had a wonderful breakfast buffet.

The hotel was very nice and cozy the room was newly renovated and is was one of the best hotels we have stayed at with a good view. Unfortunately there is no restaurant as in the description of the hotel. The stay was not planned but we had to find a hotel because a snowstorm was inbound so we choose this hotel because there was a restaurant but unfortunately there wasn’t so we didn’t get anything to eat that night as we were unable to drive anywhere.

We only stayed there one night and we got there really around 7pm. The room is really good! The only thing is too hard to find a restaurant there and no breakfast

The room was cute, communication was great, and they were very helpful with accommodating us. Overall, this was a perfect pit-stop on our trip around the ring road. Also, breakfast across the street at the sister hotel was wonderful.
