Oyster House

I have stayed here 4 times, in room 8 and had an amazing experience every time. I booked nearly 3 months in advance, and requested room 8. I have mobility issues and there is a lift to the first floor, and this room has a walk in shower. On arrival at the hotel, check in was very quick, but there was no conversation, we were told to follow the corridor and our room.was on the first floor. I got to the lift, and it was out of order, and remained so for the duration of the stay. This posed quite a problem for me negotiating 3 flights of stairs. I feel that bookings should have been notified about the lift. To my further dismay, i was in room 6, which had an over bath shower. This was very problematic for me. The room was lovely, although there was a half empty bottle of water in the fridge. We ate what we thought was a complimentary mini tub of pringles, only to discover they were £2.50. At check out i volunteered this information to be told i would be billed by housekeeping. Check out was very quick and easy, mainly because thats all the lady said. This is a beautiful place to stay, in a gorgeous location, and while i would stay again for this reason, Ive come away feeling somewhat disappointed.

Hotel was great, car parking price as risen from £6 for 24 hours to £28 for 24 hours and can only be booked in 12 hour periods this means u have to get up in the middle of the night to pay to get you through to morning not the hotels fault but we were promised the manager would sort it before we left, he hasn’t yet ! Diner for such a nice restaurant is no longer table service but pay at the bar and food was lovely even if the staff did mess up the order and never came back with sauces after asking if we wanted any. We were told a new system had been installed and it had lost a lot of the original booking requests for several guests.rooms were nice clean and roomy beds a little to soft for me same as pillows that slipped down the back of the bed during the night.

Great hotel with super facilities. Easy check in and helpful staff. Room comfy. Balcony and sea view requested and this was a nice added extra.

Property and staff are great , rooms are ok My only comment is that there was no cupboard or any draws to unpack your case, but definitely visit again. Note some rooms on the 1 st have terrace right by the roof bar terrace.

We were very happy with our accomadation, the room, food and staff were excellent, and the location was close to shops etc. I only have one complaint, we arrived by car and to find there was no hotel parking, and the off street parking was miles away as it was a lovely warm sunny day the town was very busy.

Good location. Room was clean and comfortable Parking was a nightmare and expensive. Had to pay for parking twice in a 24hr period @ £14 per 12 hours. Our meal in restaurant wasn’t that great. Lovely walk along promanade.

Lovely room & very well presented. Only grumbe no mention of lift being broke till we arrived as wife has hip pain

A lovely small hotel located just off a pedestrianised area on The Mumbles. The hotel itself was beautifully furnished and maintained to a very good standard. The hotel room was modern and had everything you needed for a stay. Staff were very helpful and the restaurant looked fabulous but it wasn’t serving food the night we were there, which was a shame. There were plenty of food places nearby though. The only downside, and totally out of the hotels control, was the cost of parking. The hotel has no parking for guests but there is a pay and display a short walk away which is quite pricey for a nights stay. We paid £22 for a nights parking.

This newer very small property sits right at the seawall. It is very lovely and has great views. The staff is A1. Only problem is there is no parking, even for just checking in. The entry is difficult to find as well, but once you get in it is exceptional . I really hope this gets corrected soon. The staff was as helpful as they could be through our psrking difficulties.

We stay here a lot and have seen a recent drop off in standards. The room was not cleaned properly, one of the duvets was ripped, the tissues were empty and not replenished, the bath mat was not replaced. The coffee and tea was not replenished. So a gradual drop in standards. The place is expensive and they need much stronger quality control. Hopefully this will happen for our next visit.

Easy check in at restaurant. Room was fabulous with own patio but unfortunately this had not been cleaned properly from previous guests. Location of the hotel is fantastic. We didn't eat in the hotel as had already made other arrangements but the bar area looked lovely .

This is a lovely small hotel that has easy access to everything around Mumbles. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable and very quiet. We had a lovely view of the church. Heated towel bar, heated floors, great restaurant too.

Despite reading some comments about rude staff, all interactions we had were good. Location is good for all there is to do in Mumbles although a little noisy at night due to nearby bars; not that hotel can do anything about that. Room was clean and comfortable. However, other areas of hotel were very dusty & if I could clearly see it, why can’t cleaner? Little things like this stopped me giving an excellent rating. Overall though, I’d recommend.

Very clean, lovely fluffy towels and crisp sheets. Huge bed - bigger than a king size and good selection of teas and coffees

Spotlessly clean hotel with fabulous rooms and facilities. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommended!

It was a beautiful room. The view was beautiful. The staff were friendly and professional . Unfortunately the bedding was dirty (rusty marks?) The room was way too hot even after turning the air conditioner down. Apart from that it was good.

The property had AC but was controlled centrally so unable to cool room on a warm day. Great views and centrally licated

Great location and even better that we were able to book the dog friendly room. Room itself had a few small maintenance issues but nothing that stopped us from enjoying our stay. We will return.

Fantastic location and the rooms are all beautifully decorated

This property is update, well thought out and staff could not be better. From check in to support (I accidentally threw my keys in with the trash) staff went out of their way to help. The room is simple yet with all the feel of an upscale boutique hotel. I will stay at oyster house again, happily.

I was in room 5 which had a part sea view and is over an alley way from the sea front to the high street. With people coming and going till the early hour's plus the noise of the guttering dripping all night. Great location, lovely room.

Spacious, modern and comfortable room. Loved the heated bathroom floor. Loved the details like fresh milk in the fridge, a Roberts radio, coordinated lamps and paintings. The whole visit felt like a treat

The hotel was doing its best to be first rate .. the staff were helpful.. beds were huge but too soft (but that s me ) The sea view room was ok .. had a terrace adjacent to the main hotel s terrace so was not private and was glad it rained or I can imagine it could be noisy.. was it worth the £217.room only ..I am afraid not …

One of our favourite places we have stayed. Hotel was beautiful, location was fantastic and the views from the room were amazing! The bed is one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in. The staff were very attentive. We had breakfast on the outside terrace and that was delicious. We use to live in swansea so we knew parking on the road up by verdis is free so we parked there and walked down (parking by the hotel is pricey). Had the best stay! Highly recommend

We were greeted by a charming guy called Alex. He was so friendly and welcoming. He did his very best to give us a room with a sea view, even though we’d not originally requested one. Rooms are comfortable, bed was comfy and we slept well. The hotel is near all amenities and wonderful walks around Mumbles and the pier. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Great location and helpful staff

A wonderful hotel with friendly staff/owner that creates a lovely relaxed and laid back atmosphere. My young son and i love it here, and will be back soon for our 3rd visit!!

I have been charged for a booking nwhich was cancelled by Oyster House but no refund ????

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel is close to places to visit and eat. The bathroom was great. The sheep was an added benefit, which we really liked. The only issue we had was the communication. I think the hotel just needs someone to actually look at messages and emails, the hotel communication just gets lost at the bar.

This property was on the sea front. However, the building work on the sea defences was very invasive. We booked a sea view but were told on that it was not available as we had dogs. This was in spite of me confirming via a separate e-Mail. Eventually we were offered a partial sea view. I had held the booking with a bank card - which I did not want to pay with - but as we were unpacking, a staff member came to the door to say that they had tried to take the money from that account. Had I known we needed to pay in advance of receiving any service, we would have used the correct card. As it was, we were made to feel as if we were trying to rip them off. We are regular travellers and are used to settling our bill on check out. When I queried this with the manager, I was told that this was the policy everywhere. Although our room was clean, there were a number of problems. The carpets in the communal areas were dirty and the walls of the room had clearly been marked and someone had painted over them in a different colour. This looked very unprofessional. Also, there were no wardrobes or cupboards, just shelves. The tea/coffee was minimal, and on several days was not replenished and the towels were not replaced. We found the bed uncomfortable and it was covered by a mattress topper which made me wonder what was underneath. We had a meal, which was poor, we were seated in the conservatory and the door was shut on us, making us feel unwelcome. Overall. very disappointing

Stayed for 2 nights. Central in mumbles with busy nightlife.

Perfect location, overlooking the beach and surrounded by eateries/bars for a buzzing nightlife! Bed super comfy and rainforest shower was awesome! Didn't get the chance to use the bar/restaurant but def will next time. It looks very swish and plenty of tables. The staff were fantastic too, super helpful and kind. Thank you 😊

Lovely accommodation and food with views of the sea. Shame about construction work along the promenade but it will be lovely once finished. Had great weather and could eat outside

Very comfortable room, beautiful view and the perfect location in the village. Staff are very friendly and the food and drink is good. This was my 3rd stay here and I'll definitely be back

Beautiful location. Views are immense. Perfect for us as we love the sea and we’re able to walk 10 seconds out of the hotel to be able to go paddle boarding. The whole place is spotless and the quality of the place is excellent. Linen was pristine. Close to lovely places to dine, and excellent food within the Oyster House restaurant. Staff have gone out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. There’s no concierge, but this is not an issue as staff are available on site when the restaurant is open, and there’s a direct phone line if you have any out of hours queries.

I had a comfortable bright room with excellent tea and coffee-making equipment. The hotel is of a good standard with a large colourful restaurant with a very good cooked-breakfast menu. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel occupies a very good position on the sea-front at Mumbles and is a good starting point to embark on the beautiful Welsh coastal path.
