Metro Tempe Extended Stay - Economy Studio

This is a strange combination of hotel and apartment. No front staff on duty after 5pm. No pool towels for the pool. No breakfast of any sort in the morning. Older building with smelly rooms and halls. Every door has a no smoking sign but still the place reeked of smoke and other smells. Our room smelled like a cat had been in there. The bathroom door would not close all the way and our room was expensive! Stay somewhere else that is a real hotel.

What and how the property was listed on Orbitz did not reflect the actual property. It did not mention no linen service, the "spa" was actually a tiny hot tub attached to a very small pool and the basic furnishings you would expect to find in a hotel setting were missing (i.e., trash cans and a bottle opener), Also at the end of the stay the customer is responsible for emptying the trash (you don't find this out until you have checked in. No ice and no vending. Overall a dimal experience.

Walls are very thin, could hear the couple in the next room arguing several times. Hair still in tub and a half smokin cigarette butt was left sitting on top of one of the picture frames in the room. Not worth the money what so ever. Plus the 24 hour spa is closed… so don’t expect the amenities they advertise. Terrible experience!

I really liked that I felt safe in the area. It was in a nice area and everything is close to the apartments. I liked that there was appliances which allowed me to cook instead of eating out all the time. The thing that was most important to me besides cleanliness and safety was it having a fitness center because of the reason we were there. The center had a treadmill and an elliptical machine, both which did not work. The pool was also not in service. We ended up having to look for a gym out of the property so we could meet our goals.

The property is not well maintained. The TV in the room was not working. In the fitness center machines were broken and equipment was missing

Affordable, central Tempe location. Put a piece of tape over the vanity motion censor before you go to bed or that light will drive you crazy going on every time you roll over in bed at 2am, 3am, etc. Fitness room was not good - no wipes, no water, no towels, Bowflex treadmill was non-functional, Bowflex adjustable weights -- 2 dumbells but only 1 had a handle.

The spa jets were not working

I was a little disappointed there wasn't an ice machine nor any vending machines for soda, chips or candy. Other then that I was pleasantly surprised how this place has changed for the better. If I was to go by the old reviews when it was Hawthorn Suites I would have never stayed here with my family..

They Didn’t let us know deposit is required and bathroom needs refurbishing pool needs to be cleaned

This apartment is old and our room is about 10 feet from a very busy road. We will have to listen to loud traffic all night. The pool is about as big as a bathtub and dirty. The shower head pointed into the bathroom and because the shower curtain was a foot too short, the bathroom would get flooded. We saw a cockroach run across the floor in the bathroom and had a daddy long legs spider inside a towel. Right in front of the outside main entrance I slipped in fresh dog poop. They do allow dogs but unfortunately some of those dogs bark incessantly. The walls are thin so you can hear everything and everone next door or in the hallway. We found the bed to be quite comfortabke , however the pull out bed was very uncomfortable. Although the staff are not always around, those we did mert were very friendly.

The room is filthy. Spiders. Smell of bleach but so dirty. No silverware. Broken remote. Door is so crooked I can see out into the hallway.

Room have several cockroach in the room, and trash under the bed, I reported to the front office and to Expedia, but they can't done nothing. No recommended, is cheap but dirty.

This place was dirty, the “king beds” are just king mattresses on queen box springs. Drunk guy in foyer, no one actually works the front desk, hallways stuck of cigarette smoke, both rooms they tried to put us in had been used and not cleaned after last guest. Didn’t fell comfortable staying so we left

Hotel was very dirty. Filthy! Had to clean the tub to bathe the kids and 5 minutes after their feet were filthy! Bugs in the bath room and on the floor. The ac was filthy with black hand prints and grease!? It should not be on your website at all! I had to check out at 10pm and find another place to stay that was clean for my family.

As we arrived, there was no one at the help desk. You need to call the number provided on google maps, they will assist with any questions. The room and property were in poor condition, pictures are deceiving. Stains all over the room and bath tub, towels were stained as well. Our confirmation email and message said checkout was at 11am but front desk came to our door at 10am letting us know that it was check out time, we let them know we were told 11am and her answer said it changes all the time it can be anywhere from 10am-12pm so be ready for that. Some of the guests do live there but seems sketchy over all. Room also had a very weird smell.

My room was a mess when I came in. Not cleaned or anything.

I never leave reviews but I'm making an exception for this place! Beware!! I was fooled by the 7.6 rating and booked 4 nights with my family for spring break. We left after 2 nights without a refund to stay at a different hotel. This place is disgusting!!! Foul odors, gross rooms, dog and human hair throughout the apartment, barking dogs each night, and just plain filthy! Our A/C unit didn't work so they moved us to a new room and I killed 6 cockroaches in the first 5 minutes. So, we left! You have been warned! Do not stay here!!!

If I could give this property 0 stars, I would. Worst place I’ve EVER stayed in. No exaggeration whatsoever when I say there was a huge roach infestation in the room. The minute we set our dinner down on the table, roaches started crawling out of the tv towards it. They also climbed on our pillow. If that wasn’t bad enough, there were gross stains everywhere to include nasty body fluids in the bathroom. Cigarette burns all over the furniture and the hotel smelled bad. Never ever ever again will I go for the cheaper hotel just based on photos. Those photos are incredibly deceiving. This hotel ranks lower than a motel 6 IMO. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more to stay at a much more sanitary hotel.

Carpet in hallways are filthy and heavily stained. There’s trash bags full of trash in the hallways and the place smells horrible. The furniture in the room was dirty. I definitely will not be returning.

So, we usually stay near ASU when visiting my daughter, but decided to try this place out. The listing was 4 stars and pictures looked fine. But the pictures were very misleading. They kind of look like the pictures, but the pictures are doctored up. When we first opened our car door in the parking lot, we smelled marijuana, which sometimes happens in the public. But as we went into the lobby, the smell intensified! It was in the hallway and also in our room! When we got to our room, the floor had this slick film on it (see video). It was gross! We mentioned it to the GM and she was apologetic and will have someone take care of it. Not sure if that happened while we were gone, but it was the same when we got back. Hair was on the bathroom counter and on the walls of the shower. Rat droppings on the floor. Just not clean! Room was missing a remote, and was given a remote that was taped together. “Gym” is a joke! Broken equipment. We were traveling with my 12-year-old daughter and did not feel safe, leaving her alone in the room or by herself on the property. It looks like they have a long-term rental option that may tailor to lower income families. Do not bring your family here! Actually just don’t come here at all! We told the management of our concerns and request requested a cancellation and a refund, but was denied. Read all the reviews! I’m sure the positive reviews are fake or purchased by the management.

Room was larger than a standard hotel room, which was nice. Full size fridge and small kitchen if needed. I liked the sitting room separate from bed. Facility was definitely older though. Really hated that the front doors were locked after 5:30 and you had to use side doors. Very inconvenient. Walls were very thin - could hear partying, fights, tvs, etc. all night long.

This was by far the easiest and most stress free check in ever! I love this concept of Apartment/hotel. The room was fine and I loved having the kitchen and full size fridge with a freezer (ice cream!). Everything worked and was clean enough. Downside: it could have been cleaner and the bathroom/shower/tub was very old and worn but it got us clean. We will return for a stay again. Definitely a great value. Way more room than we expected which was wonderful. Good, solid property and a bargain, centraly located in the Phoenix valley, near the on ramp to a major freeway interchange so you can go anywhere from there. For us it was perfect, just what we needed. Thanks Metro. You really delivered.

The room was a comfortable size, but the AC doesn’t work. We were not able to get it to turn on. Went to the front office but no one was there, the office was closed after 5pm. No luck with trying to find help. This hotel is in Tempe, AZ, so the temperature was 97 degrees Fahrenheit. Not pleasant!

So we like the size of the units here and this is our second time staying at this location. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with this latest room. When they say full kitchen they should be a little bit more clear. Yes, it comes with a 2 burner stove, dishwasher, microwave, full size refrigerator with a lower drawer freezer, which is great. But that is where it stops cause when a company like this advertises full kitchen, and then they provide full set of ceramic dinner plates, ceramic bowls 2 sizes and matching coffee cups, a plastic spoon for stirring noodles or pasta sauce. There was no fry pan to cook meat, or french toast or pancakes in the morning and no spatula in the room either. My other issue was the internet connection it is suppose to be free, but even though it is free it should at the least work. I would have trouble getting my computer or my partners computer to connect and stay connected to wifi. But it would not stay connected. Anyway I have stayed at other places that give you a spatula and fry pan and actually this place provided a fry pan and spatula in my first room there and spatula, it is little things like this that make the differance. When I complained about the internet they did respond quickly sending someone up to help me get connected, Which was great but it still did not stay connected.

Liked the bed. Also nice and spacious. Good desk space for working. Wifi waa also good in one secrion of the aparrment.

My son and I stayed for 2 nights while in town for Spring Training. Overall a decent stay. Good location and easy in/out access and close to major roads. Cons were the lights in the room were motion sensor which was awkward turning off/on a lot. Our room was on the road side outside our window and traffic noise was very loud. Lastly the building construction was lacking and could annoyingly hear every movement of the people above us. So overall with noise from above and outside, very loud.

The space is great and the beds were very comfortable but the room was a non-smoking room with an overwhelming cigar scent which was really unfortunate.

We stayed here for two nights and our stay was ok, no wow factor. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities listed. The TV in the bedroom was pretty much worthless. The Metro is on the corner of two very busy streets and a freeway so there was a LOT of traffic noise. All in all, an ok place to stay but I'm not sure I would stay here again.

The room was good sized. It had all the conveniences needed for a longer term stay. My biggest complaint was the noise. We were on the end of the building next to the freeway and the traffic was loud all night.

The whole place smelled like burning plastic, the room wasn't clean, and the front desk closed at like 5 so I had the check in over the phone which also meant no room service past 5. The window was broken and didn't close all the way so our room sound like it was next to a NASCAR track. On the check in website there was a processing fee that was almost the price of the room itself which felt like an extra kick in the balls.

Had problem accessing room...somehow the wrong room was assigned to us and so code did not work, however, phone call solved problem once correct room was assigned. Too close to road,,,much road noise..no kleenex in room.

I was sent an email containing my room number and to call to get an access code which I received when I called. Then several days later I was sent another email with a room number change and also I was informed to call to receive the access code for that room in which I did but this time they explained I would have to wait until 2-3 PM the day of check in. Check in day arrives and 4 o’clock passes so I texted the hotel which was the easiest way of contacting them and they said I would receive the access code prior to 4 PM. I explained that my check in day was today and I received no response from the hotel so I sent proof via email confirmation of the reservation . Then without apologies they sent me the access code. Get to the hotel a couple minutes before 5 PM and found they were locking the front doors and it was extremely dark in the lobby so I asked the worker that appeared to be on her way out and she explained this was routine. Get into my room and found one TV remote and two TVs where the remote did not work for either TV. One of the TVs had no buttons on it, so it rendered it useless. The room condition was average at best. The toilet seat was broken so we had to hold onto it so it wouldn’t slide off the toilet while sitting down on it, along with the door to the bathroom was in dire need of repair as the paneling was peeling completely off. There were only two bath towels and one hand towel while one could not be used since it appeared to be dirty. The bed had a ve

Positive: very conveniently located Cons: Door seemed loose and we could see a gap between the lock and the door. The interior staircase and hallways were disgusting with a weird smell, old food stains and a lot of dirt on the carpet. The interior of the room was not clean. The sheets had old stains and the carpet looked like it hasn’t been cleaned before our stay. The furniture was very worn and also had stains. Overall, would not stay here again for the lack of cleanliness alone.

Communication about check-in and check-out was nonexistent. I had to call to make sure we still had a room and find out the check-in information. The room was good, we had one ant in the shower- which in the Phoenix area is not the big of a deal. Enjoyed having 2 King bed however.

Frustrating all around. I booked this place, I was asked to go through a different link to place a security deposit. Ok fine, I did that. Didn’t get confirmation or a message saying anything about it going through or not. Never received an email about how to check in, so I message them and they say oh the deposit didn’t go through. Try to redo it and it gives an error that there is a processing issue, so I try a different card, same issue so I assume it’s in the website. We are 20 mins out from the place at this point and I don’t know if we will be able to get in. Finally it goes through. I get the email saying go use the side door facing the parking lot. We attempt to use that door with the only code that is provided. Didn’t work. Went through the front door and it smelled like someone dumped and waited bottle of cleaner, it was so strong it was like they were trying to cover the smell. Get to the room and realize there is another side door that doesn’t face the parking lot, but we try it. Still doesn’t work. So we get into the room, the ac is off. So we turned it on, the vent in the living room is closed so we have to climb on a chair to open it, not that that did much. The bathroom door didn’t fit in the door frame so we couldn’t close the door all the way. The worst part was the motion sensor lights. Everytime we rolled over at night ever single light in there turned on. I got zero sleep because I was up all night turning the lights off. The bathroom seemed dirty also.

Weren't able to get into our room until the following morning when the staff got back to work. The access code didn't work and they had to give us a physical key. Room had roaches, hall has a bad odor. Also, when my adult son arrived a couple hours later, he walked up to the front desk to ask for directions to our room. And she handed him a key. No questions, no check for ID.. Just handed someone she didn't know a key to our room. So if you're looking to stay somewhere to escape an abusive husband or something, this probably isn't the safest bet...

For the most part everything was good except I paid the extra $50 for the early check in and I still wasn’t able to get into my room until after the normal check in time. So the next morning when I checked out I talk to the lady at the counter she said she would personally make sure I was refunded that $50 and I still to this day have not gotten a refund from them. I got my $100 deposit back but not my early check in.

Nothing but problems once I made my reservation! I paid extra to have an early check in, but was told when I arrived at the early time that the room was not ready. I had to come back 2 hours later, being from out of town and had an event to get to by 5pm, I waited in the parking lot. I saw many people go in with luggage and never come back out as I did, I received my text with the room number and code @ 3:30 but it said that I couldn't check in before 4:00. At 3:55 I went in to check in, I was entering the code to the assigned room when the door suddenly opened and this room was already occupied. I went back to the front desk to ask why if check in was at 4:00 pm, there were people in my assigned room prior to me getting there? They made the people leave, had a maid " re clean" the room. I remember seeing these people in the parking lot about an hour before, so they had to have been allowed to check in early as I assume all the other people that went in and didn't come back out did as well. I was told my early check in charge would be refunded. I haven't seen it yet. These are just the problems I had getting into the room, once I got into the room the problems continued. The remote for the front area TV was in pieces, I had to hold it together to get it to work, so I thought since the couch was so dirty I would turn on the TV in the bedroom, it turned on but said there was no signal. This was not the end of the issues I had, I will never stay here or with this corp again.

There is no one on this property after hours. I had to respond to a text message from ann unknown number to provide my email and information so I could get checked in around 530pm. The halls and elevators looked dirty and had dried spills on the floors. The room had certain things that had been remodeled, but there were purple drip stains on the bathtub in addition to age related dirt stains at the bottom of the tub and on the sink. Overall it felt adequately clean, just not really comfortably clean. The bathroom is tight and crowded with the toilet and door (the door opens to the toilet and you have to kind of climb around the toilet to close the door). I had no hair dryer when I got out of the shower and had to call the after hours number about it just to be told no one is on the property until the next day business hours. No instructions for checkout and no one at the desk at 730am. I emailed twice with concerns and still haven’t received a response more a day and a half later. The bed was decently comfortable and I did feel it was a safe property as a woman with an 11 year old child. The parking lot was well lit.

The property felt a bit sketchy. I had to keep the curtains closed because it was the first floor and right outside the window is a bus stop. The people above the apartment were so loud throughout out the night. I did like the convenience of communication through text/email- checking in and receiving the key code to get in was simple. Parking was well lit and close enough. Over by the designated smoking area was a nice little private area.

Perfect location for everything…all spring training fields, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Did not actually stay in the room we paid for. We got to the parking lot and felt very unsafe. The security guard did not have very high remarks for the safety of the area or building so we left and found another hotel in a better area. Getting our money back would be great but doubt it will happen the protection plan is no good if you are going city to city and don’t have time to cancel.

The room wasn’t very clean. The property is right beside the freeway so there was alot of traffic noise. Nothing was within walking distance but restaurants, shopping and entertainment were a short drive away.

It's nearby a lot of shopping centers.

I liked that we had a full kitchen.

We liked the layout of the room and having the full size refrigerator/freezer. The ease of getting in the room was great! The downfalls were the one ply toilet paper, no kleenex and only one trash can in the room, which were very minor. We would definitely stay here again.

Good for the price. Big room, good amenities in the room - full frig, mini dishwasher, dishes, pans, etc. supplied, microwave and stovetop. Only a Keurig with two pods for the stay though. Decent bed and shower. Someone by the pool was loud the first night but that stopped at 10 and other nights were quiet. First floor usually smelled like marijuana despite rules against smoking. No daily service of rooms. Recommended for long stays, travelers on a budget, and for convenience to Friendship Village senior community.

Cockroaches were found in the room. Office is only open until 5. No breakfast. and gym only has a couple of machines. No good.

The property constantly wreaked of weed. There was not adequate silver wear. I think we had one spoon and one small pearing knife. No kitchen linens provided. No pot holders provided. The overall cleanliness of the room was fine, but we definitely had cockroaches. At some point there was a bug next to my head in the middle of the night. I’m hoping it was a spider. Most people that stay there seem To live there long term. Everyone was very friendly.

Excellent location, we had a track meet at MCC for 2 days so it was great to be 5 min away. Communication was excellent. The room wasn’t bad at all but beds weren’t that comfortable. Especially the pillows. The showers were a little dirty with hair on the curtain and the corners of the shower. For how cheap it was and having a kitchenette… I didn’t care. Plus I loved being able to bring my pup along. I’d recommend it if you’re okay with some minor issues.
