Melior Boutique Hotel

More serviced rooms than hotel. No or limited staff. No vehicular access to hotel as on pedestrian only street. Room spacious and comfortable and Starbucks breakfast delivered to room was of good quality. Ideal situation on Main Street and short walk from bus station.

We had a very nice stay at the Melior. To help prevent confusion for others, you enter the Starbucks and just before the counter, there is a small desk and elevator. That is how you access the hotel. They send you a code for all the doors and elevator prior to arrival. The staff was very courteous and breakfast is provided daily by ordering online… all Starbucks items. They deliver to your room or you can have your breakfast is the Starbucks. The location is great with a short walk to the bus station and everything in Valletta easily accessible. We had no issues with noise even as the Carnival was occurring during our stay. The only downside is that I felt it could be cleaner, but I am very picky about cleanliness, so maybe it is just me. Otherwise great stay.

Overall our experience was good. The location is great - 5 minutes from the bus station. Close to restaurants etc. The room was comfortable and clean and we had a lovely stay. There was a mini fridge, tea and coffee facilities and toiletries were supplied. There were a few things that we found strange but if we'd read other reviews we would have known. It's not easy to find.You get to the rooms by a lift at the back of a Starbucks. The desk was unmanned and the code for the lift but it didn't work. When we found a member of staff, this was sorted very quickly and he couldn't have been more helpful. Our room didn't have an outside window. The only natural light came through a window that looked out onto an internal shaft which must have had a window at the top - not ideal but it was okay. The hotel doesn't have a lounge or dining room. You order breakfast using a card you hang on the door and a tray is delivered to your room. The breakfast is provided by the Starbucks store below and so the choice of items is limited by what they stock. I also assume that sometimes they run out because there were substitutions on a couple of occasions. The food was fresh and we found that there was enough for us to have breakfast and take the rest out for lunch. If you are looking for a base in the centre of Valletta with somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep and are not bothered about the extra amenities that some hotels offer it's a not a bad choice.

The locotion was not marked the enterance was within a busy coffee shop which I found accidentally when I went up and down the street to find 300 this was not mentioned prior to stay Staffed by coffee shop staff Only access by lift within the shop where you have to have code very complicated Room very spacious needs little tlc but fine Nice location Would worry about fire safety as no stairs should be flagged up

Liked the location and the size of the room. Easy access to public transport, shops and restaurants. Difficult to locate as it was above Starbucks which we didn’t know until we had to ask around to find it.

Amazing location. New boutique hotel. WARNING; check-in can be tricky. Instructions do not explain the elevator issue. Just walk into the STARBUCKS Reserve, grab a Proseco and tell them to contact the Hotel. Staff (Isis) will come down and explain the codes for main door, elevator and room. Its Boutique because you get nice room, biggest TV, fridge, bathrobes, slippers, forgot your toothbrush? No problem, you bet two with toothpaste, big shower for two, small desk and amazing climate control....best part; you are in VALLETTA....check out the 5 euro English breakfast next door, grab hop on hop off bus and explore....

Pros - the location is bang on - right on republic street where the action is. The hotel has Starbucks on ground floor - which acts as their restaurant for breakfast etc as well. Cons: 1) While Starbucks is convenient - it also brings in lots of traffic/visitors. So the entry is always full of people. 2) There is no on-site manager assistance at all times. There is a booth for someone to check you in - you have to dial in a number to call this on duty person. Can be quite a bit of wait to check in and also to get any other thing taken care of relative to room issues etc. 3) The rooms are nice and comfortable. We had a duplex room - so was spacious - with Tea, Coffee, Mini fridge, Kitchenette etc. 4) The Starbucks staff is very cordial and accommodating 5) The breakfast options are limited to what Starbucks can offer(Sandwich, Juice, Coffee/Tea, Fruit and Water)

The suite was absolutely gorgeous, bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing however the floor needed cleaned. The check in process was quite strange, check in was inside a Starbucks and no one was at reception. Unfortunately the codes required for the lift and room didn’t come through to us properly. We were able to get assistance by phoning the hotel.

Hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful. Location was good but the experience was let down by lack of access information by the booking agent who failed to give adequate information about access, or provisions for late arrival. Our flight was delayed and there was no way to communicate with anyone re access to the hotel after Starbucks closed at 11pm. We were not informed prior to departure from London that access to the hotel was via Starbucks or that there was a 24-hour presence. The phone number provided online cut out and no answer service was initiated. Now I know the above processes, I’d be happy to use the hotel again but it caused a lot of stress initially.

Perfect location right on Republic st… walking distance to all of the most popular sights… restaurants and shopping galore… 5 minutes walk to the main transportation hub… clean… very friendly staff… actually inside the Starbucks…

I had a leaking fridge when I arrived but that was dealt with by the second day. Otherwise, the room was spotless and perfect to my needs. You don't have much interaction with staff due to the way the hotel is accessed (it's within a Starbucks). The reception desk was never manned and the only staff I saw were the cleaners who were friendly, and a Starbucks staff member who showed me to my room on arrival.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I would give zero stars if I could. The room was filthy dirty. There were spiders, mold, smears of brown in the bathroom next to the toilet paper, hair on the floor, dead bugs smashed against walls and ceilings. The room was not cleaned whatsoever. When I brought this to the hotel staff’s attention, they informed me that it could not be cleaned until the next day, meaning I would have to sleep in a dirty room. The staff refused to contact the manager and didn’t even know when the manager would be at the property or reachable. There is no real receptionist, you have to call a number that is sitting on the desk in the middle of a Starbucks and every time a different employee answers (one time a starbucks employee answered. She was very nice and was the only person that seemed like she cared that our vacation was ruined.) They refused to give me a refund after not even giving me a clean room. They lied to Expedia and said that the employee inspected our room and found it to be clean. He did not as when he came to investigate he agreed it was dirty and needed to be cleaned. Do not stay here.

The Hotel couldn't be better situated for principal attractions. Room was well appointed, equipped and comfortable. I particularly liked the selection of toiletries and in dispensers, rather than mean little sachets. [Sealant in shower could do with replacing & shower head could do with a descaling - but these NOT off-cuttingly bad]. Breakfast pre-ordered the night before via a selection card and delivered to room promptly at time selected. Entrance is via a Starbucks coffee shop & it's not immediately clear that's the case. My sole issue is with pre-arrival communication. On booking they advise a QR code is sent 24hrs before arrival to self check in. It never arrived. When enquiries 1st made, it was now to be sent on day of check/in. Nope! Even when another contact was made, the agent insisted there were self checkin desks - there's not! It was only when my kind taxi driver made a phone call on the way there, that this changed to there being an agent at a kiosk. The agent was actually very good. However, misinformation causes anxiety - especially in these days of fake profiles. I suggest the Hotel sorts out its system, its website & chatbot to provide greater clarity. All that said: I would recommend a stay here anytime

From when we checked in to when we checked out was excellent, I couldn't fault it. We had a spacious apartment with with a pulldown bed and a separate bedroo. The hotel is right on Republic street right on the centre of everything, museums, restaurants and shops all on your doorstep. The apartment was a 2 story apartment, all mod cons . For breakfast, I filled out a breakfast card, plenty of choices and delivered directly to our apartment with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble, we left our luggage there free of charge after we checked out. Staff were great. Apartment was spotless and we had a balcony overlooking the street which surprising was quite. A Spar supermarket was minutes away. A lovely strong shower with lovely bathroom products, also slippers & bathrobe. I will stay there again the next time II'm in Valetta.

The responsiveness of the staff is outstanding! The place itself is a gem: located in the heart of Valletta, it's not noisy, very convenient. It was very nice to receive breakfast at the time of my choice. The room I booked was spacious and simply incredible with it's cleanliness and easiness to use. Highly recommended!

Great, centrally located, hotel. All main sites within walking distance as is the port if you want to venture further afield. Room was fairly small but clean, modern, and well equipped. Breakfast was provided by Starbucks (which is directly below the hotel) and was varied and fresh. Bed was very comfortable. Good value overall.

Very friendly service, modern hotel, good location directly in the hot spot of Valetta, window had no street view, which was ok for me- because therefor it was quiet, it was very hot outside, but the room was always fresh and cool, rich and good breakfast brought to the room- overall: I enjoyed my stay

Room 304 was WOW, so nice on a floor all its own! So quiet. Room was very spacious with great bathroom, plugs for all the electronics we travel with. Super convenient location! A unique property with a Starbucks right downstairs!

A good, very clean 3* hotel with helpful staff, in an excellent location. The price was low for central Valletta. The suite does not have a functioning balcony despite a photo showing a balcony with a table and chair on the Melior website! However the location was so good it made up for this deception. The suite was huge and the bed was comfortable. My shower flooded and the first morning, but the water trap was fixed efficiently and it did not flood again. It’s inside the Starbucks accessed by an elevator with a security code near the cash register. There is a reception “podium” which is staffed infrequently- this is not a hotel where you can head to reception with questions or for help making reservations.

Stayed in a duplex room overlooking Republic Street. Absolutely fantastic accommodation and equally fantastic location. Highly recommended, with only a minor complaint, the hotel was difficult to find on arrival as the street is pedestrianised and the entrance is accessed through Starbucks with no sign or street number. Otherwise perfect.

The apartment was fantastic, having a separate sitting area and kitchen was perfect for us. Lots of plugs, tv and excellent shower. Loved the balcony. The only minor issue was it’s in a pedestrianised street, so it was a walk uphill with suitcases to access the hotel and our airport transport. But it was a small price to pay. Staff were smashing and the location is brilliant

The room i had (duplex suite) was larger than I expected, i very impressed. It clean and very well appointed. Access was easy through a Starbucks and to a private elevator for hotel guests. I found the location perfect for walking around the old town of Valletta and seeing the sights. Although the street where the hotel is located doesn't allow vehicles it was only a 4/5 minutes walk from the taxi drop off opposite the Triton Fountain public square and the city's bus station.. Even though it's location is in a busy part of Valletta you don't hear the noise at all . The rooms come with muti regional plug sockets so you don't to bring an adaptor for your UK appliances such as to use your UK phone charger. I found the staff to be very polite, friendly and a credit to the hotel. For a 3* hotel I was beyond impressed..and would gladly stay there again in a heartbeat

Check is inside Starbucks. Have to phone for someone to come and check you in and give you codes for the elevator, and your room. Duplex suite has a double bed on a mezzanine as well as a Murphy bed in the lobby. Bathroom has two super shallow sinks that splash everywhere, a towel rail as far away from the sinks as possible and only one hook for towels and dressing gowns. Kitchen is a microwave, sink and fridge. There is a coffee machine and a knackered kettle. There is a round dining table and four chairs but not much area to relax in - a day bed wedged under the stairs and one armchair in a corner. The room has a traditional Maltese balcony, but that’s locked off so you can look at it but not use it. Despite being on a busy shopping street the room was quiet.

Communication by email was extremely slow. We asked about laundry and it took a day to reply that they don’t do laundry. Then we asked for an airport transfer as their website said they offered this and they said they didn’t. We got a small room and the shower leaked so much that we had to place towels against the door to prevent flooding the floor. The elevator and room numbers were confusing. Room 302 is on the fifth floor. They should try and number the rooms based on your floor number for clarity. The beds are hard and I had to sleep on extra blankets to get comfort as I have sciatica. We had a courtyard room so it was very quiet. The air conditioner is very powerful. The room can be freezing in a few minutes. Great location in the heart of the old city. Great grocery shop two blocks away as well as a laundry mat. To get an uber to the airport, you need to walk several blocks to a meeting place near the bus depot. Difficult to coordinate as they are not allowed in the roads around the depot. Do some reconnaissance a day before to figure out a meeting place. Travel light. Don’t bring big pieces of luggage.

Great room, very pleasant

Hotel is in a great location in Valletta. There is no concierge present and the numbers to call are not answered but staff at Starbucks can usually get you assistance. The duplex room is large and very nice.

Bedding was good. Towels were pretty rough. Could use new ones. Check in was terrible. Missing instructions and codes.

This boutique hotel is in a great location & surprisingly, very quiet. The room was well equipped & very clean. Isis & Rintu couldn’t have been more welcoming & helpful. The breakfast at the Starbucks Reserve downstairs had a great selection to choose from. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel for an enjoyable & relaxing stay.

The main reason why one selects a hotel is the service. While the Melior is a nice hotel in a great location, the service is lacking. Reception is rarely manned (one day in five) and I found it impossible to contact them by phone, either by my phone or the internal landline. Apparently, Reservations do not work the weekends. To be uncontactable for nearly 30% of the time is unfathomable. This made checking in very hard.

Very well located within walking distance of everything. However, access by cab or car is a little difficult as the hotel is located on a pedestrian street.

The location is very good, a 3-minute walk to the bus terminal. There are bus routes to almost every place. It only takes 30 minutes to take Airport Direct 4 from the airport to the hotel, and it only takes three bus stops to get there. After getting off the bus, you can walk to the hotel in a few minutes. It is very convenient.

The Melior is conveniently placed for Valetta and a few minutes walk to the bus station. Even though its on the main thoroughfare, its quiet. The breakfastwas delivered from Starbucks and was plentiful. However, for 3 out of 4 days they had no gluten free options available. Which meant we had to find a gluten free option outside.

Good central location, but challenging to find, nobody at desk when we eventually found it inside a Starbucks coffee house, breakfast supposed to be included but as we were leaving early, they stated we could have a cold breakfast sent up our room the night before, never materialised! Sorry guys but won't be back

We really enjoyed our stay in Melior during our visit to Malta. One of us participated in a international academic conference in the Valletta campus but one of us was along for just the holiday and the hotel worked really well for us location-wise and with all it's amenities. Even though we follow a pescaterian diet, the breakfast had plenty of options for us and for us ordering the breakfast the previous evening and having it delivered to the room worked really well. The airconditioning worked really well and even though accessing the hotel at first through the Starbucks lobby felt weird, you got used to it really quickly and the system worked really well even when the cafe was closed. The rooms were clean, airconditioning worked really well and both the bathroom and the rain shower were nice. All in all, great experience!
