Very nice property. Only one complaint - if you’re in a cottage room. There are exterior lights on the main house that shine in the windows all night long. Room darkening shades would be very helpful.

Everything and everyone was wonderful but my 88 year old mother climbed three flights of stairs, she was wiped out. If you could make an exception for the elderly to use the elevator that would be nice. Mom didn’t get down to the porch to see the musical fountain and that was one of the main reasons we wanted to stay there.

What a cute property that goes the extra mile in the little things. 1. Cookies at check in. 2. Free snack section. 3. Great view of the river and lighthouse off in the distance. 4. Close to a nice restaurant to walk. 5. Exceptional staff. 6. Nice size room and balcony that looks over the river. 7. They may only have a continental breakfast, but it's the best one I've eve had. Fresh pumpkin bread, other pastries, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, cheese sticks, oatmeal, coffee, juice, milk, water. My only mild complaint is they do not have a elevator for guests. I have a bad knee and had to walk up stairs...but it was worth the climb. Would definitely stay again.

Charming Inn in a great location. The only surprise was a room on the top floor without a working elevator. Luckily us 70 year olds were healthy enough to climb 3 flights of stairs with luggage.

A nice little spot in grand Haven right across the street from the river and just a couple of blocks from downtown. We love the location! We have stayed here before, but never on the first floor. This time we were in room #1. It is right next to the back door. The back door does not have a soft closure mechanism, so it slammed continually into the night, and in the morning. People were going in and out continually through this door. Maybe it was a much more active night and evening, since it was New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day. Other than that, we had a lovely stay.

I like all the little extras like tea, coffee and lemonade always available, also snacks and bottled water. The front screened in porch is delightful. The only issue I had was the air conditioner was blowing cold air directly at the bed off and on throughout the night.

Stains, cobwebs, floor water damage, every door creaks and can be easily slammed, slow drains, furniture looks like it was bought as-is from a flea market. For $180 a night with very little amenities, you would think they would spend some money on upkeep, a small fridge for each room, an actual continental breakfast and not just a snack bar with a single loaf of bread for all guests. There is a big difference between quaint and neglected. This property is neglected. Have a small crowbar? That's all you need and just a little bit of effort and you could get in every room very quickly - a lot of light come through the door and the jamb.

Service was excellent as always, room was nice but not as clean or nice as the last couple years. The small table wasn't very clean and the base was dirty with food crumbs on it, both chairs were stained with numerous stains. The rest of the room was clean and the balcony view was excellent.

This was our first visit to Grand Haven and we couldn't recommend Harbor House Inn enough. The staff was lovely, property super quiet, very clean, very safe. The room was perfectly cozy.

Great location and an easy walk to marinas, beach, bars, and restaurants. We visited during July 2025. At the price point we paid, we were expecting better accommodations and amenities. Our room felt worn and had a musty smell. The furnishing and carpeting were a bit “dated”. The bath towels were thin and scratchy. Cold, continental breakfast was provided. Nothing special. Yogurt, cheese, hard boiled eggs, breads, and items that be placed in a toaster, plus coffee and juices. Can’t beat the location, but would not stay here again unless the accommodations were commensurate with the price point.

Great stay in cottage room 3, and we would definitely consider staying here again. PROS: The location was phenomenal; close to the boardwalk, beach, musical fountain, and downtown dining and shopping. We walked almost everywhere we went. Deb at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. Coffee in the morning with a light continental breakfast, and more importantly snacks and bottled water available any time. The fireplace and netted tub in the room were nice perks. CONS: These may be a little nitpicky, but maybe someone will find them helpful. Our room didn’t have a fridge, which would have been nice for dining leftovers and beverages. It also could have benefited from a little more storage (luggage rack, dresser). By far, the pros outweigh the cons, and our stay was very positive.

Place was great, as always, however this is no working fan or vent in the bathroom of room #31, and there should be since it gets pretty steamy from the shower. LOVE this cute little Inn and always enjoy the friendly welcoming staff and unique spin on each room!

Loved the place but did have problems with our Plumbing. The shower in Room 21 only had HOT water coming out no cold to moderate the heat. Had to take a bath instead. Haven't done that in over 30 years.

Great location for walking to the pier and to the downtown area for shops and restaurants. The accommodations were nice, especially the second floor where we stayed, with balcony and river view. The room could use a deep clean, the bathroom was small and the room overall lacked the charm we had hoped for in an historic inn.

Gorgeous B&B across the street from Lake Michigan. Beautiful room with a balcony and view of the water. Clean room with a comfortable bed and cozy fireplace! The jacuzzi tub was older, but everything else was great!

I think this is a convenient location and have wanted to stay for some time. The room was nothing special though, considering the cost. Another detail was that I expected a warm breakfast rather than cold continental which was disappointing, considering the cost. Finally, free parking means only one vehicle (which the website does not state). My sister met me from out of town and I was forced to park on the street, not a big deal except the neighbor had a large tree cut down and no one informed me! Luckily I came out early and was able to move the car, and then had an employee be defensive over the matter rather than apologize. Not very professional, considering the cost.

Room was not inspected for working heat before late check-in. Strange. Ice cold. Heater actually didn't work. Took an hour to get moved to a new room, nearly midnight. The breakfast was minimal, no hot food, unless you call pouring hot water on a packet of oatmeal hot food. Very disappointing. Overpriced and poor maintenance. Scowling attendants.

This was our second stay here, and we like the place. The room was quiet and clean, and we appreciated having a nice breakfast on the outdoor porch with a view of the harbor. Our only real complaint is that the person who checked us in had some difficulty with the credit card processing, and it appears that we were double-charged for the room. I'm sure we'll get it sorted out, but it's a bit of a hassle. Also, because of the water pressure and the shower head in our room, the showering process was actually painful, and there was no way to adjust the water supply or shower head to get a more pleasant shower; that shower head should be replaced. With all that said, we'd stay here again, and we recommend it.

What a unique place to stay! Near downtown Grand Haven. Great views of the water and walking paths. Bed was extremely comfortable. People are really nice. My fiancé and I will definitely come back for an anniversary stay.

We had an amazing stay at this charming bed and breakfast! The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax. The guest books in the room were a delightful surprise—so entertaining and full of personality. While breakfast was good, I had expected a little more variety. We needed a last minute place to stay for the night. Booked around 8pm. Would be checking in late since we had just sat down at a restaurant. About 10pm got a call from the Inn letting us know where our keys would be left as she was going home for the night. This was slighly concerning since the booking website stated 24hr front desk access. Thankfully we arrived and easily found our keys and notes on information for ice machine, breakfast hours etc. Our room was 1st room on 3rd floor (remember no elevator). We found it to be quite large and comfortable. We found the breakfast to be basic but worked for our needs (coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, 1 type cereal). In addition, they did have take along snacks such as nutrigrain bars, granola bars, bananas, apples, oranges and cold water bottles. Couple perks to our room was the jetted tub, yummy handmade soft caramels at the bedside and 3 windows. We also discovered the next morning in talking with another guest and the AM innkeeper that there is a lady who lives on property to handle the after hours issues should there be any so technically they do have 24 hr "desk person". We would definitley consider visiting the Inn should we be in the area again.

Good location. Inn is in need of repair and updating. Bed in room 3 is ready for replacement. We skipped the hot breakfast in the morning because they were running behind, had no coffee ready and we had to get on the road.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly employee and then taken on a tour of the inn. I fell in love with virtually everything about it! The rooms were clean, cozy and tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast included such things as assorted bagels, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese sticks and fresh fruit mix. In addition, orange juice, coffee and tea were offered. I had a very positive experience overall and will definitely be back for another stay!

New category. It’s a “bed and pop tarts”. Cold breakfast. Was told if I want a hot one I can go down the street. Toaster. But no bread. Granola was cheerios and shredded wheat. Cheese tray was cheddar and motz cheese sticks. $440 /night but great view of the parking lot.
