Poor cleanliness and disappointing service We stayed as two guests in a four-person private themed room. The room was not properly cleaned when we checked in. The rubbish bin still contained rubbish from the previous guest, which was disgusting. There was also a lot of dust around the window, and the bottom of a plastic rinsing cup was broken. There were no duvets provided. I found some under the bed, but they were dirty. I told the staff that we needed two duvets and that the ones under the bed were dirty. The staff said those were not for guests and promised to bring clean ones. However, when we returned, the staff had simply taken the same dirty duvets from under the bed and put them on our beds. This was extremely disappointing, especially after I had specifically reported the problem. Before our stay, I also contacted the hotel with a question about Miffy Museum tickets. I had to ask three times and waited several weeks for a reply. During this time, the hotel sent me links promoting breakfast and other facilities, but did not answer my question. Overall, the cleanliness, service and communication were very disappointing. The previous guest’s rubbish being left in the room and dirty bedding being provided despite my complaint were unacceptable.

Just way too hot. Fans provided but there was no window to open and room was unbearable at night. No kitchen or kettle to use. Communal area was basic, uncomfortable and too hot. Room was quiet and handy location. Do not stay here in Summer!

The location within downtown was great for our travel purposes. The exterior window shades made a difference during the heat wave. We were in a private unit with our own bathroom. Laundry services were pretty convenient. Staff were...not rude, but not overly welcoming either. Space was very clean and after 11am the restaurant could be accessed for remote work as long as you purchase something per hour (very reasonable).

It’s an ok place to stay if you don’t have high expectations or need a lot of comfort. However, the days I spent in Utrecht were some of the hottest of the summer with temperatures up towards 40 degrees Celsius. The rooms have no AC and therefore I found my stay rather unpleasant. The staff apologised, and of course they are not to blame, but still, with the weather being the way it is and summers getting hotter and hotter, I found it strange that the hostel has not invested in some sort of ventilation, fans or AC. There is some sort of ventilation in the rooms but I had a feeling it was switched off during the night… Would not stay again, especially during a heatwave.
