Di-Ann City Centre Hotel

Very old rooms, bathroom was very very uncomfortable an there were no elevators and the steps are steep. The walls had a tapping noise that made it difficult to sleep with and there was construction outside with loud noises.

Very basic room, en suite was good. Very steep stairs from street to 2nd floor reception and another two flights to the room: not for the faint hearted or those with a lot of luggage. Tourist tax is an extra cost.

No hot water, hot water tap did not work, safe did not work, there was no soap to wash hands. Soap dispenser was broken. Place was convenient to get to but stairs were a pure nightmare to carry bags up and down. Room was cold, thankfully weather was warm. Room was extremely basic, definitely not worth the high price that was charged.

The building is too old and has no lift, just stairs. To reach the reception, you should go up 37 steps on a very narrow staircase with your bag, which was very unsafe. After that, I should go further 17 steps up stairs to reach my room. The room was poor regarding cleaning, sound insulation, and outside wind/air insulation, as the windows were very old. The cost was not cheap; it was 119 GBP per night with no breakfast.The water drainage in the bath was slow, and it accumulated for a few minutes.

Very central - clean but needs a little up-keep. No kettle in rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. No lifts so you have to carry bags up 1 or 2 very steep and narrow flights of stairs. Overall good.

Excellent location. Close to most attractions and public transportation. Staff is friendly and courteous. However, the building does not have AC or elevators. The hotel/furnishings are dated.

Although the staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were very basic. A ventilation grille was missing in my bathroom door, and my cousin had a safe box lying around on her room floor. I could not get the TV to work. However, the bed was very comfortable, if rather basic, good wi-fi connection. No breakfast provided at this hotel. Being an old Dutch building it had very steep and narrow stairs, and no lift. This hotel would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues, or health problems.

We have stayed here in the past. The previous owners had young people bring up your bags to the room since there is no lift and the stairs are very steep and straight up. They no longer do that. No upgrades to the complex in years. No AC or fans.

We had a bad experience. Price was incredibly high at 300 EUR per night for a very bad room that was dirty, and we got a lot of bed bug bites.

I got bedbugs! They need to treat it and I would like a refund!!!! I have pictures if you’d like to see them.

Excellent location but the room was VERY basic. Bathroom rather cramped and smelly. Mystery liquids on the balcony wall. Bitten over 30 times from bedbugs

Unfortunately i had to leave after one night. * Not clean * Bed bugs *Tv not working *smelly *a man walked into my room in the middle of the night using his key card for another room, no security. I hope i can get some kind of compensation as i had to pay for another hotel and have been itching like mad since leaving the room.

BLOOD IN THE BED - Absolutely disgusting property.this hotel is unsanitary. This hotel is using photos of different rooms to market its property. Stayed mid week May 2025. Photos on Expedia do not accurately represent the property or rooms. Bed is a prison cot style bed. Mattress was yellow and blood stained. Mattress protector was even worse with large blood stains the size of the room card. Bathroom filthy. Window broken, had to use fan to keep window open. Curtains torn. Walls were sticky and visible stains running down them. Contacted Expedia to complain - no assistance given.

Arrived at the property early and explored the area near and seemed very lively and beautiful. Upon arriving to our initial room it appeared as if it wasn’t cleaned at all stains on the sheets, mold in the bathroom. Went to front desk and were given another room which was better but very much so had similar issues. The rooms are incredibly different than the pictures. Seems as if the pictures are from when it was owned by different people. Very deceiving place

One coat hanger in the room for a week stay with 2 people, floor was covered in dirt and grime as well as leaves blown in due to balcony door being left open, dust all over and hairs in the bed we decided not to risk stopping here after we looked and saw reviews of bedbugs hotel not worth the time of day, shocking.

This hotel is in an excellent location, a 15 minute walk from the train station and near sites like the Anne Frank house. I was not prepared for the steep stairs going up to the hotel, especially when carrying my luggage. I got used to that, you have to take your time. The worst part was the cleanliness of my room. Garbage on the floor, razor in the shower, dirt under the bed. I was there for 3 nights, the same things remained the whole visit. Floor was dirty, bathroom wasn’t cleaned (they made the bed, that was it), garbage can not emptied. I knew it would be a small room in an old hotel, I was prepared for that. I wasn’t prepared for the lack of cleaning in my little room. Very disappointed in that, but loved the location.

Sink was cracked, room was dusty, walls were filthy, smelt of smoke, dirt on the curtains, hairs all over the room. As well as practically nothing but the bed being clean or in good condition, the staff were very unhelpful and dismissive when asked who let themselves into our room whilst we were in it. Did not feel all that safe as 21 and 20 year old girls.

You definitely get what you pay for with this hotel. Seeing mixed reviews and knowing I am a pretty laid back traveler, I gave Hotel Di Ann the benefit of the doubt and thought it couldn’t be too bad. This place is broken down, dirty, and very tight. Mold growing in the bathroom, stained blankets, and no air conditioning. Trash all over the common area by the lobby. BEWARE: the service staff went into our bags and took 60€ out of our wallet while we weren’t in the room. Would NOT stay here again.

We got upgraded to a room with a balcony with no prompting - nice big windows, good view. Noise does come through, but we found that a white noise app basically drowns it all out at night.

It was a basic single room with a balcony 407! Top floor. Steep stairs! Like I said it was very basic with TV, heating and a very hot shower with a good hair dryer. Can't complain as it was very cheap and I needed a balcony to smoke. Staff was friendly. Hotel location is amazing,5mins from dam sq a few mins walk to Anne frank. Could walk every from the location. I would stay again as it's cheap and has balcony. Cleaning every day! I didn't have any storage or safe. Had to bring the chair in from the balcony to put my stuff on

Loved it! A room in Amsterdam with a balcony?! AMAZING. Beds were super soft. They cleaned/gave fresh towels and bedding everyday! 24/7 reception. Stairs are fine- clearly people haven’t stayed in other Amsterdam hotels before- as the stairs are typical for an old Amsterdam building. Shower was perfect. Could do with a lick of paint and some minor cosmetic bits to the room but honestly prefer it the way it is. A proper Amsterdam hotel

Staff were very friendly and someone was always at the desk to help. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is situated in a very convenient area with lots of shops and transport. The room was cleaned every day. Some things I would improve were that the shower head sprayed water in all directions and there was no storage at all in the room except for a small beside table, so we couldn’t hang clothes anywhere.

It was in a good location. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom a bit small, however, I’m used to North America.

This hotel is right in the center of much of Amsterdam’s action. Most big sites are within walking distance. Rooms are small. All is dated. Bathrooms are “all in one,” so there is no separation between the shower and the toilet. Good if you want to be right in the middle of the action and are on a relatively limited budget. If you cannot do steep steps or have huge baggage, this hotel is probably not the one for you. Bakery just below the hotel is a wonderful place for breakfast!

Great location in the city, around the corner from Dam Square & Anne Frank museum. Staff are super friendly, hotel had balcony which was nice & convienent. The room was an okay size with a nice view, comfy bed and TV. My only criticism would be the room & bathroom felt outdated and could be updated but overall a comfortable stay.

Very basic, felt like I was in a broom cupboard because the room was so small. Couldnt close the window so it was quite cold at night. Rooms were made up every day but towels forgotten to be replaced. Had to climb 4 flights of very steep stairs to get up to my broom cupboard which wasn't made clear in the description and not ideal as I was in Amsterdam to run a marathon! Bed was fairly comfortable, although could do with better pillows and the shower was hot...... only plus points of a disappointing stay for the cost of the hotel

do not stay here. The staff checked us into our room and we noticed that the smoke alarm has already been tampered with, there was a sock hanging from it, covering it. Stupidly, we did not notify them because we were confused, furthermore, the housekeeping came in and out of the room for cleaning six days in a row and failed to do anything about it, they had to have seen it and simply left it there, so we assumed it was on purpose at that point. On the 6th day, we come back to the room and are locked out, so we approach the front desk and they informed us that we need to pay €150 for “tampering” with the smoke alarm. We even paid extra for a room with a balcony, why would we then tamper with the smoke detector? The staff was completely unfriendly and everyone said there was nothing they could do, no communication between any of the staff and none are on the same page about anything. We contacted hotels.com, who talked to the staff, and apparently Stephanie lied and told them that it’s part of their “daily duties” to check things like that, if that is true then why did it take them six days to notice something like that? And why did they check us into the room in the first place with it already having been tampered with? They also failed many of the other “daily duties”, leaving garbage in the room that we set out to be cleaned, forgetting towels, and honestly seemed to do very minimal cleaning if any at all. We come back time and time again purely for the wlocome we recieve from all the staff. We will be back in september with our children for a family holiday. Its a home from home. Safe, welcoming, amazing staff. Especially stephanie and arminia. I would highly recommend this hotel. Even for solo women travellers. I have stayed on my own and felt as safe as i did at home. If you need local knowlwdge the staff are always happy to point you in the right direction. Ok the staira are a mission, but also a reminder of the history preseved within the old building. We will be back and look forward to seeing the amaizing staff.

On arrival the stairs to reception are very steep. I asked the receptionist if he could help me with my bag he kindly did. On the way out another receptionist guy saud he was too tired to help!!! This says it's a 2 star hotel. Rubbish not even a 1 star. In room 2 beds one chair one bedside cabinet. Honestly it was almost like a prison cell tbh. Now I'm not 5 star hotel kind of person. And I've stayed in some nice hostels and caravans. If your just going to party this room would be okay as theres nothing in it to ruin! So yeah very disappointed with this hotel.

Property was overpriced and dirty. The staff were rude and indirect. The room was small, unkept, and very noisy to neighbouring rooms and the street. Would not recommend a stay here.

The staff are always what makes this hotel extra special. We have visited with friends as couple and i have a visited solo. Every occasion has felt like a home from home. Polite staff, any little hiccups sorted with mins of speaking to a mamber of staff. As a solo woman traveller i have felt safe. Always a warm welcome alone or with company. Myself and my hisband will not stay anywhere else. Value for money is always a bonus, the only downside is the stairs but it's a sacrifice we are willing to make for the welcoming we receive from the staff. Steph is just a treasure to the company along side many other other staff. If i was to name them all i wouldnt have enough space. Just thankyou to everyone who makes us always want to come back again and again.

- The host was away and I had to wait ca. 5 min. He was obviously stoned when he came in. Checking in was one of the slowest experiences I had so far. - Room was so hot (radiator was broken and could either do no heating at all or 5/5) that I had to open a window and leave for a bit - One of the two windows didn't open at all - the other one I had to put the Nightstand in between to stay open - Save in room was broken... Promising sign - There was strange hair everywhere in the bathroom (floor, wall, CEILING?!) - After taking a shower, the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF because of the humidity (keep in mind I wasn't able to open a window to fight it) I only read about the stairs when I checked the evaluations but there was so much worse

This is a quiet and clean place to stay. Very central and easy to walk to a lot of Amsterdam's sights.

Always a pleasant stay, when in Amsterdam I enjoy to use this hotel , staff and friendly and helpful and location is perfect for walking around the city centre.

We stayed here for the weekend, it’s 2 star you get what you pay for for the area you’re in I suppose. It’s just a basic room, bed toilet shower and that’s it really but it was very clean and stay were lovely. Only bad thing I could say was how steep the stairs are to walk up to the reception and rooms. But I’m guessing all the hotels am like this but don’t quote me on it. Overall good hotel, great place to stop as all the attractions am 10-20 mins walk away. Would defiantly stop here again if I went back.

Nice and close to central Amsterdam. However, as it is close to central Amsterdam, the area will tend to be noisy due to traffic and bars. A good place to stay!

The hotel was exactly what I needed for a short, relatively cheap holiday in Amsterdam. The situation is central so I was able to walk everywhere. The room was small without being cramped and with it's own bathroom. The common area was welcoming allowing me to boil water for tea or coffee any time of the day, or sit on the balcony. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Other reviewers were ignorant of traditionally steep Amsterdam staircases, I've stayed in a few other small Amsterdam hotels and know what to expect. I was on the top floor so climbed all the narrow steps a few times each day. After the first night I learned not to attract mosquitoes by having both an open window and the light on. Next time I come to Amsterdam I'll certainly try for the same hotel.

On arrival we didn’t spot it at first as it is a single door between shops. The stairs up to the property are steep and not for the faint hearted. People with large bags might find it awkward. The staff were polite friendly and happy to help, despite our later arrival time. Our room was up some further stairs, although it looked clean in the corridor it did look dated. Our room was at the end of the corridor, it was small (we knew this when booking) very plain and in need of TLC, it did have some issues a couple of which we raised the next morning and they were dealt with others were cosmetic and they need sorting. Cleanliness was poor, on the surface it was ok the linen and towels were clean, however we found tissue and cotton buds on the floor someone’s old socks in the wardrobe. It was warm too, despite it feeling like the radiator was never on. The windows were single glazed so you could hear the trams passing, I was still able to sleep. The position of the hotel was very good we walked most places. It was nice and central. We only wanted to sleep and get changed there and this is all we did. If you want to sit in your room relax watch tv, and have home from home comforts then this is not for you. It had a lounge area on the main reception floor with a smoking balcony. Coffee facilities were on this floor too- non in the room. It served our purpose for a few nights but, knowing what i know now I wouldn’t consider it for a longer stay.

Great location… alot of stairs.no good for anyone that has difficulty in walking f.. Staff were very friendly and helpful.. if I have any complaint , could really do with tea & coffee in the room

The fire alarm went off alot even during the night, all false alarms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms don’t have a kettle and only one mirror which is in the bathroom.

This is a beautiful property set in a convenient location- you can literally walk anywhere in the town centre from here. The staff are very friendly and being vegetarian we were very pleased with the breakfast options.The bedrooms are large and comfortable with very good quality Wi-Fi.. It was also nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room
