Wunderschöner Garten mit eigenem Trail. Wir sahen extrem viele Tiere nur schon im Garten. Feiner Kuchen am Nachmittag auf der Terrasse. So konnten wir die Tiere beobachten. Äusserts hilfsbereites und freundliches Personal. Sehr sauber. Unser Zimmer war okay für die drei Nächte und weil wir nicht viel drinnen waren. Sonst eher klein und in den Keller hineingebaut, was es dunkel macht. Wir hatten ein kleines Patio vor der Tür.

A lovely stay in this lodge, which is in the heart of the Forest. The nature trail was great and we saw lots of wildlife in the trees and around the property - I have never seen so many hummingbirds! We enjoyed the breakfast where you can choose an option from the menu and it is freshly prepared. The staff at reception were very helpful and booked us taxis to go into Santa Elena in the evening (only about 5 - 10 min drive away) so that we could access the restaurants. The only negative I have is that the lodges are very dark and the floors are very slippery as they are polished wood. The room was very clean and well maintained.

Great, friendly staff. Beautiful grounds, including their own nature trail. Great view of surrounding mountains and calories from an expansive balcony that is used for the breakfast area as well as for lounging. It overlooks a small garden where you are guaranteed to see lots of hummingbirds. The furnishings are a bit old but everything is clean and tidy. Our room had its own private balcony.

Amazing property. Great trail, we did an improvised night walk ourselves and saw lots of animals including an owl. 4 types of breakfast to choose from (all very tasty) and 3 to 5pm coffee with cakes. One of the highlights of our trip.

The Cala Lodge is so eco conscious, views are phenomenal , nature walk, birds…wow! Staff is extremely kind and breakfast was delicious. Recommendations were appreciated. Room so cute and comfy. A small coffee maker/hot water maker in room would be amazing but only a suggestion. Was a wonderful experience and close to cloud forest!

Amazing place to stay in Monteverde! Very comfortable rooms and our porch had a view into a wooded spot where several different birds greeted us everyday. The walking trail on the property is a great place to see additional birds. We saw motmots, trogons, and several different kinds of hummingbirds. The breakfast is also excellent and filling to start your day. They also offer complimentary coffee in the afternoon. Emmanuel was a great host and help us change a booking for us. I highly recommend Cala Lodge!

This was such a cute place to stay and one of my favorites of our 10 day trip. The breakfast is yummy and the view from the breakfast is so beautiful. While we were eating, a monkey came up to us along with some birds. You can also spend some time bird watching which was beautiful. The actual room is nice and spacious, great for a big group of people or even just for two like us. We had a kitchen and a cute balcony. The staff is very pleasant and gave great recoomendations. I would stay here again

Being in our room here almost felt like being in an upscale cabin or treehouse! It was very quiet and peaceful. There were thunderstorms at night and I loved listening to them while lying in bed. The bathroom was extremely nice with good soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. There is a lovely trail at the back of the property.

Dommage que notre chambre se soit située en RDC un peu enterré, sans vue sauf sur le parking (sentiment de se retrouver à la cave, mobilier et équipements un peu vétustes, pas d'eau chaude la matin). Petit déjeuner en terrasse sympathique avec vue sur les oiseaux appâtés. Proche de Monteverde et passage possible de navettes pour les activités sportives locales.

The room, staff and amenities were all 5 stars. We were in the main lodge above the restaurant and got ZERO sleep either night we were there because of the constant banging throughout the night. It was so bad it almost ruined Monteverde for us :(

1. Beautiful surroundings 2. “Suites” are actually 4 small apartments in one building. Family next door with little kids up at 6:30, and they are in the next room. Not their fault, but no insulation so super loud. 3. Not enough parking so we returned from dinner in the pouring rain to find our parking spot gone 4. Looked forward to tea and cake from 3-5, but the cake was gone upon our arrival at 3:45 and never replenished. 5. Most expensive place we stayed and felt like the cheapest. 6. Great atv tour

The staff was bery helpful, especially Eva, the receptionist. The property was beautifully designed with a network of interesting trails. Beautiful birds could be seen from the balconies and common areas. Breakfast was delicious. We met many wonderful people

Francisco, Karien, Ava and the res of the staff were great!!! They assisted with all our day tours and transportation. Nice having laundry service available and a great breakfast every morning. My wife & I enjoyed the location (nice & quiet) away from the noise of downtown. Would certainly go back to this facility.

Amazing place to stay in Monteverde! Very comfortable rooms and our porch had a view into a wooded spot where several different birds greeted us everyday. The walking trail on the property is a great place to see additional birds. We saw motmots, trogons, and several different kinds of hummingbirds. The breakfast is also excellent and filling to start your day. They also offer complimentary coffee in the afternoon. Emmanuel was a great host and help us change a booking for us. I highly recommend Cala Lodge!

We loved our stay at Cala Lodge! The staff went out of their way for us and gave us good information on many questions about the area. They even set up a birding guide for us; Roy Porras was excellent, top notch! We saw so many great birds from our deck and the breakfast area!!! We would definitely visit their again and I highly recommend Cala Lodge!!!

Cala Lodge is in a beautiful natural setting, relatively quiet but within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The lodge has a helpful staff, high sustainability ratings (Blue Flag and Green Leaf) and contributes to the local community. Excellent breakfast included in rates. Some of the smaller rooms are less comfortable, but all are clean and well provisioned. We will definitely come back.

Our room was tucked away, which provided the opportunity to sit out on a quiet balcony and watch trogons, motmots, flycatchers, wrens, woodcreepers, hummingbirds and toucanets fly by. Breakfast was an absolute bonus; a great start to day being served a delicious meal and watching birds a few feet away come and eat the fruit put out for them (we also had a coati visit). There is a short trail on the property with seating areas and swings that one should not miss out. The lodge itself is about a 15 minute walk from the transmonteverde bus station in Santa Elena (to/from San Jose), as well as a quick walk to the bus stop in front of the school which will take you directly to the Cloud Forest - so there is no need to rent a car.

A lovely stay in this lodge, which is in the heart of the Forest. The nature trail was great and we saw lots of wildlife in the trees and around the property - I have never seen so many hummingbirds! We enjoyed the breakfast where you can choose an option from the menu and it is freshly prepared. The staff at reception were very helpful and booked us taxis to go into Santa Elena in the evening (only about 5 - 10 min drive away) so that we could access the restaurants. The only negative I have is that the lodges are very dark and the floors are very slippery as they are polished wood. The room was very clean and well maintained.

Loved the property and being in nature. Close to center of Santa Elena if you have a car, otherwise it’s a 20-min or so walk and you have to go up and down an incline. So it’s not super convenient into the center by foot. But taxis cost $5 to and from the center and shuttles are $4 one-way to National parks. The surroundings here are very peaceful and beautiful and you’ll see lots of birds, butterflies, and other animals!

We absolutely loved this hotel. The staff were lovely. The view from.our room was great. We saw coati right from the balcony jumping in the trees. Lots of hummingbirds and aguti. They have a trail through the property. The breakfast is wonderful!! So much food. They also do tea/coffee and cake from 3-5. There are a number of restaurants within 5 min walk (try Alissons). The main town was about 20 mins walk away. I would book here again and I recommend it.

It’s was ok, our room smelled like incense so much we had a hard time sleeping. The bed was also uncomfortable. The breakfast was just ok, nothing special. I would not stay here again.

Amazing property. Great trail, we did an improvised night walk ourselves and saw lots of animals including an owl. 4 types of breakfast to choose from (all very tasty) and 3 to 5pm coffee with cakes. One of the highlights of our trip.

The service was amazing. The staff was very helpful with our needs. The food was freshly made and it was delicious! There have a small area by the hotel where you can walk and see wildlife. We were able to see monkeys within close proximity from the main lobby.

This was an amazingly beautiful hotel. We had the 2 bedroom villa which was newly remodeled with a full kitchen and gorgeous finishes. We saw a ton of wildlife right thru the huge windows in the living room and bedrooms. I will 1000% Stay here again when we come back. The check in was super quick and friendly and we came during afternoon coffee and it was delicious too! Can’t recommend this place enough!
