Super 8 by Wyndham Old Saybrook

Clean and accommodating staff except for Saturday checkout. No one in office, door locked. Also the outside pool was covered and unusable.

They advertise a pool and breakfast items which is why I booked this location, however their pool had been closed for 4 years and there were no breakfast items. Upon arrival the door would not open and we had to change rooms. The interior of the fridge was completely covered with mold so we couldn’t save our leftovers from a restaurant. The bathroom floor was pooling water leaking from the toilet which soaked my socks, and the coffee pot in the room was broken.

The pool wasn’t open, the room needed to be updated, bathroom outlet didn’t work, tv was static, I wouldn’t stay again.

The first room I was assigned reeked of cigarette smoke. I was given another room and this one had no key to the door that worked so I had to have someone at the desk unlock my door each time. Lastly, there was no pool on the property and the website said there was a pool. The sink was dirty as well. A horrible experience. And this is a Wyndham property.

My only complaint is that they list that they have a pool but with no pictures. My own fault that i assumed that they actually had a working one. It’s an outdoor poor that was closed. The kids were upset. Other than that the room was clean, albeit a bit small, and the front desk was very friendly.

We stay last night at this hotel 9/23 for overnight stay. We didn’t sleep at all due to multiple BED BUGS in both Bed. Also it’s free breakfast on your website but come to find out there is no breakfast. I’m going to call my credit card provider to dispute this charge.

Pros: Spacious room, clean bedding and towels, plenty of hot water, nice view of beautiful large trees, easy check-in and friendly staff. Cons: All three chairs available in our room were broken and unsafe to use…even though we addressed this with front lobby, laminate room floor was dirty…my white socks were covered with bits of hair, lint, dirt from outside, low toilet and toilet seat was loose, TV did not work well AND, very important…free breakfast was non-existent. Hotels.com should update the amenities listed for this hotel.

Woke up this morning with many small insect bites. I am assuming they are bedbug, as nothing was flying in the room. Left at 8 am and the office was locked and empty, so there was no one to even notify. This appears to be a refurbished mid-century Holiday Inn.

This place is a complete train wreck. Upon arrival, no one was at the front desk. There’s no bell no way to summon anyone. Someone popped their head in and said that the front desk person would be around in 10 minutes when they were done with the bathroom, but they couldn’t help me the next day went to go to the front desk at 8 AM and no one was there went back at 9 AM. Still, no one was there. The front door was locked, and nobody was answering the phone. They clearly launder their own towels, poorly, and all of their towels were rough and stained. The only redeeming quality in this entire place was the very pleasant girl at the front desk, who tries her best to help people, but clearly no one is supporting her in anyway and this place is somewhere I will never stay again

The towels were dirty & covered in someone elses hair & the bedding was stained. The walls were paper thin so when my neighbor woke me up at 1:40am, i stayed up until leaving early the next day. I called the front desk T E N times before finally walking to the desk to see no one was there. I rang the doorbell & nothing. If i needed anything or happened to get locked out of my room i was stuck in the cold. One of my worst stays in connecticut.

Our room smelled of marijuana, even though we had a non- smoking room. We requested another room and we received “the last non-smoking room available”. That room also smelled of marijuana. The lobby also had an unpleasant odor.

This hotel is the worst I have ever visited, it is dirty smelly, the first room we were given still had the beds unmade and the previous occupants rubbish and old towels and it stunk of Cannabis, the second room we were given had been made up but again absolutely stunk of Cannabis and there was an dirty old man sitting in an office chair Infront of the rooms asleep.

Super clean and budget friendly hotel. We requested extra towels to the room and were not given any - the only negative thing I can say.

Smells like strong cleaner and incense. Unpleasant. Bas first impression. People at desk were very nice and friendly though.

Railroad line right next to property with rumbling trains all night. Highway next to property truck noise all night. Broken lamp, broken microwave, bloody hand prints on the desk, bathroom doorframe. Top sheet was full of stains looked like bodily fluids. Homeless man with his dog sleeping in his car outside our room. Waiting to see if the motel Refunds half the cost of the room as promised. I’m betting not.

the air conditioning did not work and we were sweating and didn’t sleep well i ended up leaving at 4 am as it was too hot i slept in my car for a few hours

Staff were friendly and responsive. Our stay was nice and quiet, and the mattress was comfortable. Downside is the bathrooms are quite outdated and appear dirty because of staining on the walls. Towels also had discoloration. Good location with easy access to shops and restaurants.

No TV available, smoke detector head missing from detector base. Multiple cigarette holes in bed cover. Wash the windows would make the rooms more attactive.

First battery was dead in room key reader so had to walk back downstairs and given new keys for room next door which opened up to someone in the room. Walk back downstairs, get keys to third room. They have coffee pot in room, but no cups. No hair dryer but hole in bathroom wall where it used to be. Lights flickered on and off. TV had a lousy picture and buffered. This time we stayed on the side of the hotel next to railroad tracks and they ran most of the night. This may be our last time staying there…

For some reason, the lobby was locked this morning, and I was unable to get even coffee. Had to go with that room stuff. On top of that bathroom faucet was broken off and I had to use the stub to change the water temperature. Not up to the quality we’ve seen, in many other super 8’a

The room was clean but the walls were so thin and we heard the people next to us. We heard everything from the people above us as well. They made noise doing God knows what ALL night long into morning. We had the worst nights sleep ever. We also smelled them smoking through the vents in the bathroom. We should have changed our room when we first got there but my fiancé didn’t want to cause a problem. The woman at the front desk when we checked in was very nice. That’s pretty much our only plus for this stay. We paid way too much money to not be able to sleep.

Knocked dozens of times, nobody there. Had a reservation. Called 5 times, nobody answered. Nearly knocked down door. What kind of place would ignore guests and not give accommodations?!?

We checked in. The door lock did not work. It took until 7:30 pm. to fix it and get keys. Asked us to move upstairs about 7 pm. And I am disabled with a very bad back. We could not go to dinner. It is advertised as having a pool and room service in which the property DOES NOT HAVE. I paid upon entering a fee of $30 to check out late. It is advertised as $20 until 1pm, $30 until 3 pm. The office called at 11:30 asking if something was wrong. Reminded I paid to check out then again called us at 12:30. We were so angry and uncomfortable, we left even though we paid to stay. Asked for a receipt upon checking out. I was told it would not print and would be emailed to me. I checked before leaving the property, went back in and made sure it was the correct address. I was told I would receive it in an hour. I never received it. It was the worst stay I ever had in my 56 years of traveling!!!

I had a very late arrival because of long travel and the Owner graciously met me after the hotel had closed and gave me my key. This is east of Yale by about half an hour drive and I stayed here for Yale graduation. The room was large, clean, and spacious, and there was adequate parking. The premises felt safe for a lady solo traveler. Would highly recommend, especially for any Yale function because it is an easy drive, very findable. Many thanks to the Owner!

The check out was horrible. The owner waving his hands in the office at 4:45am telling me they were closed. Terrible experience. Never stay there again.

Place was decent and simple and clean. I let the front desk know about a late check-in after seeing a concert in Mohegan Sun and we were coming from out of state and going straight to the concert. They accommodated us for late checking in and it worked out, but still was strange that no one will be at front desk after a certain time, especially for those coming from out of state. The place was easy to find and the surroundings seemed safe and quiet. There's many shops and eateries around the hotel. Hotel room is accessible from the outside. There had to be security cameras around. Needs new carpeting and upkeep for the outside hallways and steps, it looked old. Other than that, hotel room was decent and simple. It was clean, except some little hairs in bathtub; still remarkably clean. Towels are thin. No breakfast was served, only coffee. Breakfast was discontinued last year as per front desk. Expedia needs to update again about their “breakfast included” advertising (this is the 2nd time with Expedia of their outdated info). We did find good breakfast/brunch at the Parthenon Diner two miles away. Front office is always locked, but someone can help you by pushing the front button, or calling the main number. Bea (front desk staff/owner?) was very nice and attended to our needs. Thank you for the comfortable one night stay!

Attended a show at the Goodspeed and was looking for an inexpensive place to stay overnight. Very easy access from highway. Nice pasta/pizza place right next door. Smooth check in. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Very thin towels and could’ve used a few more. Bathroom door creaked every time you opened it. Otherwise, a pleasant experience.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Super 8 by Wyndham in Old Saybrook for two days and one night while attending a wedding. I’ve stayed at this property several times, it’s right off I95 is across the street to a mall, and restaurants, quiet and fastidiously clean

We stay here all the time and we live in CT. A DnD right down the street, Big Y right across the street. Always quiet even though it’s right off the highway (exit 66 on I-95). People are pleasant.

The room we stayed in looks like it was recently updated. The room was clean. The main issue was it is said it included breakfast, but that was not the case. The reason i choose it was for the breakfast. Now that i know that im more than likely not going to stay there again.

We chose this because they said breakfast included. That was not the case. Had to go out for breakfast.

The front desk upon check in gave me a breakfast bag since tge hotels .com website said breakfast was included. They will begin grab n go this coming Monday. Her kindness is much appreciated. Thank you.

We booked this hotel because they offered a free breakfast. THEY DO NOT!!! That’s false advertising. We had an old shopping cart, containing a toilet cleaning brush and a broken desk chair outside our window. The closet contained dried out paint rollers, brushes, drop cloth, paint tray and paint! There was also an ironing board with a filthy cover. The mirror trim in the bathroom was partly missing. Very tired place. Don’t stay there!

Great for a one night stay to rest and get out of the rain. Had no free breakfast though.

States complementary breakfast however they only offered coffee with powdered milk. This was disappointing.
