Easy access to the North Beach, also had a nice swimming pool.

Our room was basic, but for the price and location it was great! The lady who cleaned our room was AMAZING, we did tip her everyday too so that could make difference. The “other staff” was dismissive and really didn’t care if we were there or not. Remodeling so pool is a no go but there is an optional pool down the road we never went ocean to nice and close. Lots of restaurants and bars around the area and best of all walking distance to the amazing taco trucks! Highly recommend to try them they are all a little different but all very good. We normally stay at Ixchel and LOVE it but price wise couldn’t turn down a cheap quick trip. We rented chairs from the people right down the way for one day then were told about local place to rent the Tommy bahama chairs (that we never sat in always in the water). Had a massage daily by Anna and her team (down by ocean to the left) $50 a day! Love isla and taking morning ride on the golf kart around the island. I would definitely stay here again regardless of the staff caring or not.

There are a lot of nice things about this property. The problem is that the wifi simply did not work on our devices, even when we sat right next to the router. Avoid if you have to do any remote work during your stay. It's a great location right on the beach, and the grounds and pool area are beautiful. Service was a mixed bag; front desk was unmanned at times, including during checkout!

A very relaxed vibe right on Playa Norte. Free continental breakfast, and other options available, with a beautiful view of the water. Chair and umbrella rental, golf cart rental, massage, yoga, pool, beach bar all available. One block from many shops and restaurants.

This was our third time starting at this property. It is right on the beach in Playa Norte. They include a free continental breakfast which was nice. The restaurant is also in the gorgeous beach and a nice way to start the day. Employees are friendly. Yoga, massages, chair and umbrella rental, golf cart rental also available right there. There is also a nice pool where we hung out after the beach a few nights and made our own cocktails. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and air conditioned. Only negative was no internet in the rooms but they did have it at the pool and at the restaurant.

Construction going on at hotel so really put a damper on using the facilities specifically the pool and yard area. Not accessible during construction without going around the building through the beach.

Hotel did not include lounge chairs with stay and charged extra

The pool was mostly quiet and nicely done with trees and plants. Water was cold as it's not heated but felt nice to cool down in.

We stayed at Cabanas Maria del Mar for 15 nights. Our room was impeccably clean, the property’s gardens are gorgeous and the proximity to the beach cannot be beat. The beds were very comfortable, our room was spacious and the refrigerator was a good sized bar fridge. The shower was a little weak but we managed. I highly recommend!

This was just a bad experience. To be honest, I don’t know how the score is this high. The rooms have no windows, well they do but it has plastic corrugated covers in front of it. So you can’t look outside. The rooms are outdated and shabby. There is no WiFi in the rooms, only at the pool if working. The pool is not that nice, water is was low filled. The airco leaked for two days, soaking up three towels. Low pressure water. Somethimes no water, the reception advices to right a complaint at that moment… warm water does not always work. Luggage's needs to be carried up by yourself. Three stairs. Sheets had stains. Red stains. You fill it in. Anything positive? Yes the garden is nice and the most beautiful beach on the side of the hotel.

Dirty ! The pool too hot like 90 degré , bathroom awful , dirty towel ! Never again !

We really enjoyed our stay here! Perfect location and we also loved our rooms terrace overlooking the pool. Housekeeping did a fantastic job as well.

This was our 2nd stay at Cabanas Maria del Mar. We had a ground floor Cabana room around the pool area. This property is truly a piece of paradise steps from the famous and super busy playa Norte. If you want to visit Isla Mujeres, but also escape the busy crowds on the beach and the streets, this hotel is your perfect option. Most days are quiet around the pool. The rooms are kept perfectly clean by the dedicated staff. Every cabana room has a spacious outside area with a table and chairs. Wifi is available around the pool but does not extend to some rooms.

Nous sommes restés 3 jours. A l arrivée 5 énormes cafards étaient devant la porte de notre chambre. Juste envie de partir. Malgré tout la chambre était propre mais ne pas ouvrir la porte fenêtre si vous ne souhaitez pas que les bêtes rentrent. Hôtel très vétuste. 10mn avant d avoir de l eau chaude. Prise électrique à revoir. Piscine très sale. Personnel disponible et sympathique. Emplacement près de la plage. Tres bien. Petit déjeuner pas terrible. Le minimum.

The property was nice and the stuff were fine The room leaves a lot to be desired. The comforter was basically a moving blanket and the sheets were stained, and the towels smelled gross.

I would consider staying here again based on the location, you can walk right out to the beach from the hotel and it's absolutely amazing! The exterior of the hotel is great, quaint and quiet. The rooms though.. that's another story. We went with my parents and between the two rooms (57 and 50) this is what we experienced. Our room, 57 had a huge chunk of mold in the upper corner and then the plaster was crumbling at the bottom towards the floor. There isn't much water pressure to take a shower and you never really feel clean. Room 50, the upper tank on the toilet was broken and leaking. My parents had to put a cup over their sink drain because a cockroach came up out of it. My dad ended up with bed bugs all over his legs. The rooms didn't have internet and you could really watch TV, which is totally fine because we're on vacation but we also have small kids and they just needed some down time once in awhile and even to get out of the sun for an hour. So, if they could have had the option to just relax and watch a movie for an hour that would have been ideal (for us). If they took a little time and just put a little effort into the rooms themselves, I truly would give this hotel a 10/10.

This was exactly what we were looking for. Tower room was clean, fresh paint and tile, water was super hot, water pressure was amazing, in room safe, ICE cold a/c. Steps from the beach. Liked the water coolers around the resort to refill bottles. If you are just looking for a room with bare amenities this is a place to consider. You can rent 2 chairs and umbrella on the beach for about $30usd and bring your own food and drinks. Very close to food, taco carts, convenience stores and restaurants. Possible negatives for some- We aren't pool people so the small isolated pool wasn't a issue for us. I am not there to watch TV either but the TV is 19" and only fuzzy local channels. We would definitely stay again!

This is a no frills hotel , just a basic room, but was still perfect. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The property was clean and lots of foliage! The best part about this place is LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! Our family would for sure stay here again!

The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cold and you can go on your porch and look at the water and listen to the waves, while coconuts fall from the trees. We stay here every time we come to the island and are NEVER disappointed! The friendliest and most trust worthy staff, who goes out of their way to make feel at home.

We stayed in the Tower rooms, across the street from main hotel. Room was cleaned every day, its basic, but was ideal for mainly sleeping. Fridge didnt work correctly, had to turn it off/on as it kept freezing the items in it.

The location is perfect. One step from the beach. If you’re ok with lousy wifi, poor air conditioner, and small beds, then you’re golden. Overall is was ok for the price

I was assigned to the Castle building, there is no WiFi, it is veeery noisy, you can hear the noise from everywhere. The guy who assisted me at the registration was kind of angry, sad, bad mood, I could not tell, but the way he talked to the customer was not polite. He is one of the natives from the island, however, there was a young tall guy very polite and nice when helping or responding to questions. It is a great location though.

There is nobody at the front desk, they are always in the back. You can actually hear them. You call them and they pretend they cant hear you. When they finally show up, they are extremely rude. They dont have wifi in all the buildings. They dont change towels unless you ask them. Good location, terrible servicr.

Disappointing customer service experience We stayed at Cabañas Maria del Mar, and the experience was disappointing — especially due to the terrible customer service. After spending two days at the beach, I kindly asked the front desk if we could get some fresh towels since ours had been heavily used. The receptionist told me, “That’s not my job, that’s the housekeeper’s responsibility.” Even after I explained I understood that, and was simply asking for help as part of basic customer service, he flat out refused. No willingness to help, no effort to find a solution — just a cold “no.” I don't know his name but he was a local of the island This shows a complete lack of empathy and customer care. Where is the hospitality? Also, the nightly rate does not match the quality of the rooms. The pictures online are very misleading. The cabins look nothing like the ones advertised. The condition of the rooms is far below expectations and absolutely not worth the price. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I don’t recommend it. They seriously need to improve — especially when it comes to how they treat guests.

Staff is friendly and helpful and the beach is amazing

When I arrived at the property, I reminded them I about my request for pool view .. and I was told they only had “3 rooms available, that are not Pool view” .. I got stuck with two rooms on the opposite side of the actual front desk building where the pool was at.. I basically felt like, I either take it or don’t. Which I didn’t have an option. Room had AC but did not blow actual cold air. They came to “fix” it, but by then I had plenty of the front desk. Which seems it ran by one person, checking in, checking out, cart rentals, & also is the person maintenance person. Not enough staff to cover busy front desk. Very hot waiting area with no ventilation of any sort. Waiting 15 each time to get serviced. Front desk not very friendly.

The property’s garden was beautiful and well-maintained, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The staff was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. While the rooms are a bit outdated, they were still comfortable and functional. The only downside was the towels, which had an odd smell—improving their cleanliness would definitely enhance the overall experience.

Maria's is always my 'go to' place to stay while at Isla Mujeres! The property is always clean and the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Only 4 stars for the property conditions as some of the rooms could use some updates, but the location on beautiful North Beach makes this place hard to beat.

The location very good just front beach, the garden areas of the hotel gives a perfect touch to the rest areas outside off the rooms. CONS: they don’t provide beach chairs you must pay for chairs and umbrellas, the furniture room must be updated, very old, the small pool is dirty must of the time. The environment perfect I definitely will come back.

If you are looking for a clean place to crash after a day at the beach, with walkable bodegas and restaurants and street food, this place is for you. It’s very bare bones; the wifi sucks, the pool (while nestled into a beautiful, quiet, tropical garden) is warmer than a bath, and you’ll hear your neighbor. The shower pressure nearly scalped me, and all the linens are stained (most likely rust from the laundry). The staff was very nice, and they all spoke English better than my Spanish. They offer a free breakfast, which includes gas-station coffee, “juice,” and toast. But the beach is RIGHT THERE. Just walk outside and stumble right in. It checks all the boxes for a frugal, no-frill stay.

Great location on Playa Norte. Traditional Mexican decor, older property. No wifi except near pool or lobby. Reception staff OK, not overly friendly. Did not offer beach towels, also even though they run the business of the chairs and umbrellas on the beach no discount offered for one week stay, so $450 pesos per day. Got my croc sandals that I forgot at the pool stolen. Continental breakfast OK and friendly staff

Fantastic location to the beach and downtown! Check in/out was easy. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is coffee, juice, and toast. Water jugs were available to refill water bottles. I’d stay there again!

The gardens, pool, tile patios with tables and rocking chairs were very nice....Easy access to the beautiful beach and clear blue water. It was a crowded beach but the rooms were quiet. We had access to fresh water from the water color near the pool. The hotel provided beach towels, the beach lounging chairs were 450 pesos a day to rent. Complimentary breakfast -coffee, juice and toast. The staff at the hotel and restaurant where we got our breakfast were all very nice.
