The Lamplighter Dining ~ Rooms

Cute little place. A busy restaurant is attached and parking is pretty tight. You have to wait until the parking lot opens up at the end of the night to move your car into it. Otherwise some street parking available. We were on the third floor so had to hit the maze of stairs to get to the top but it wasn't too bad. Sits right in town which is really cute. Eateries are open pretty late if you look around.

My stay overnight was great. Parking was fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and relaxed. I would stay here again

Excellent stay, great service, well accommodating our dog, good understanding of gluten free diet requirements, lovely rooms and very clean.

Parking right outside the front door. Room was adequate, clean with tea coffee amenties. Breakfast was one of the best i have had - cooked fresh to order. Staff polite and helpful.

Excellent hotel right in middle of Windermere, great hosts. Everything ran smoothly, parking was easy the rooms were good and the breakfast was fantastic. Can thoroughly reccommmend

We had a great stay over a weekend here as a family. 2 adults a 2 year old and our dog (he's big). We had king bed, the room was clean, comfy and nice bathroom, just what we needed. We chose to eat in the restaurant one night the food was great and the breakfast which was included was amazing, so many options. They were lovely hosts and great family friendly stay and really dog friendly. We would definitely stay again.

The room was clean and bed very comfy. The bathroom could do with some extra tlc as the shower was not as clean as expected. All staff were pleasant and the breakfast was very good.

The menu was good, but not exceptional. The staff were very helpful, but we did not realise that the hotel was going to be full of dogs. The were seven tables in the dining area and six had dogs at them. The carpets smelled of stale dog in all their form. The carpets were stained especially in the bedroom that we occupied.

The restaurant is excellent with great food and a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was equally good. Room was spotless with plenty of hot water and strong shower. All the usual extras with tea and a coffee machine and a couple of decent chairs to sit in. Bed equally comfortable. A pleasant place to stay and relax. Recommend a trip to Holehird Gardens which is just up the road 🙂

Such a lovely place to rest our head for the evening. Walking distance to the train station where we met our tour guide for the tour of Hilltop (Beatrix Potter’s house). The breakfast was absolutely delish! Staff was so friendly! Our room was spacious and so very clean. Also, our bed was quite comfortable. My daughter and I loved this place.

Pleasant stay. Clean rooms that were serviced everyday. Staff helpful. A couple of the rooms are very noisy, if the window is open, with early morning traffic. 6am. Lorry's emptying bins full of glass etc. But rooms on the other side would be fine. I'd stay there again but choose your room.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. Even worse, the bathtub was completely clogged. When I first entered the bathroom, it hadn’t even been cleaned properly and was full of soap scum. I had to call someone to clean it, and surprisingly, there was not even a single word of apology. After the so-called cleaning, the bathtub was still not usable. Overall, the hotel feels old and poorly maintained. Honestly, they really need a full renovation. The breakfast was not good - the taste is below expectations. Furthermore, just have a look at the photo taken, the pillow towel had holes in it…

Room quite small and basic but excellent value. Food great and staff extremely helpful. Delivery/collection at 6am woke us. Maybe this was a one off.

We booked a one night stay at The Lamplighter. We arrived early evening and the building looked well presented and well lit, so easy to find. The staff were welcoming and check in was organised and straight forward. We took our bags up to the room. The room was clean, tidy and appeared to meet our needs. We then left to go to the high street for something to eat. On returning to our room, we found it was really cold. The radiator was barely on and the temperature dial would not work on the radiator. When closing the blinds i noticed that there was a substantial draft coming from the windows. We noticed that the duvet and pillows were very thin so didnt really help keep warm or comfy. The bed was really uncomfortable. We found it was hard and struggled to get comfortable enough to have a restful nights sleep. The bathroom was really cold so was really off putting to use the shower facilities, therefore we opted to just get dressed and shower at our next destination. Breakfast was well presented, tasty and there was plenty of choice. The only thing i could complain about was that a member of staff attended the table to ask if we were still eating, baring in mind staff had just seen me take a bite of toast. Staff then preceeded to ask if they could clear the plates whilst i was still eating. I find this the height of bad manners and really bad customer service. I did speak with staff on checking out about the issues re the room being cold and uncomfortable but to no avail.

Enjoyed my stay hotel comfortable clean and staff friendly and accommodating I would definitely recommend I would definitely go and stay longer if price is right

The hotel is very good, food excellent and the staff are so helpful, only problem we had was on arrival, we was allocated room 4 which although was very nice the floor was sloping which made my wife feel nausea. But after a while all seemed ok. Would definitely stay again.

The only little gripe was that the mattress was very hard and uncomfortable,but some people like it that way, but we had a very pleasant time

The staff service at the Lamplighter is superb from reception to restaurant service. The hotel is far from the usual style with a beautiful building in a great location at the top end of Windemere's high street. We dined at the hotel and the food was lovely, well priced and the staff very attentive. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice and the quality equal to the best we have had on our 4 week holiday so far.

The staff were really friendly during our stay, the breakfast was fantastic and service was great. We were so disappointed to discover on the last day that there was another side to the breakfast menu which we hadn't turned over! We will have to return and sample the breakfast pancakes! :) Thanks for a great, comfortable and friendly stay.
