Chose this hotel over others in Holmfirth due to the claim of parking - there are marked parking bays for the hotel rooms (1-4) however, the “car park” (it’s not really a carpark, it’s parking bays along a road side) is completely open to anyone who wants to park there, is not enforced at all as being for guests only, there isn’t even a sign up asking non guests to not park there. We therefore couldn’t use the “on-site parking” at all and our car has 2 large scrapes down the side which occurred whilst parked on the on-street parking near the property. The room (junior suite) was very nicely decorated, however the room is not conducive to a restful sleep - old single glazed sash windows providing absolutely no soundproofing whatsoever and the property is situated on the main road. There is also a green light in the ceiling which was exceptionally bright and lit up the entire room to the point where you could clearly see as though the actual lights were on all night. Other irritating things (that probably wouldn’t be a problem other than feeling ripped off that the promised parking didn’t exist) was there being 1 teabag in the room for 2 people and the staff not knowing where tea bags were kept, and being asked immediately upon check-in what we wanted for breakfast without even being given a menu, and when asked what there was being told “oh usual stuff like bacon and sausage” Unsure why you have to order the afternoon before, nor how you expect people to order without info

You have a designated parking spot for you -- you do not need to worry about you do not have any parking on that B&B place. Friendly and helpful staff members -- You have been told and showed how to find the best route when there is an emergency to get out of the hotel immediately with safe information

Lovely rooms, staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was amazing and we had a really good night in the pub, good atmosphere and fabulous live entertainment, I would definitely recommend staying here

Alison was an excellent host. She made us feel very welcome and even gave us a free upgrade. The room had everything you need and the bed was comfy. Top marks for the breakfast the following morning. Added bonus was the free onsite parking.

We organised an early check in, as we where going to a gig at the Picturedrome and the room was ready as we arrived. There is parking at the back of the pub for guests staying with them which is really helpful. We were made very welcome, by Allison and the team, from the start. We had a late lunch which was delicious. Pub had a good range of beers and drinks. Room was lovely with a huge comfy bed and full ensuite bathroom. Very clean and spacious. Remarkably quiet through the night to say you are in the middle of Holmfirth. Breakfast was really nice, a full English with toast and set us up for the day. Would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfortable, also the breakfast for very nice . This is our second stay here and we will definitely be returning.

Lovely recently refurbished twin room. Everything was new and beautifully decorated. Immaculate bathroom with a good size shower cubicle. The staff were great and it’s a really nice pub. Breakfast was well cooked. Would definitely stay there again if we come for another gig at the picturedrome.

I got scabies from the bedding!! Covered in bites, very dated furniture from when I was a kid style! It was haunted, didn't sleep, food tasteless, mangeress wasn't over friendly, breakfast staff and cleaner great! Would not return though.

Room (above the pub) was really nice, very clean and super comfortable. Unfortunately for a business stay it wasn't practical that there were no dinner or breakfast options. Also no Wi-Fi available in the room so any work I had to do sat in the bar which isn't ideal. Very welcoming people and as I say the room was ideal. Just not for a business trip unfortunately.

Breakfast was delightful, with genuinely lovely staff. The room, although basic was generally clean, the bed was horrific. The mattress felt like it belongs to the pub since it was constructed! The duvet was weird with an awful cover. My back has been aching for a few days after trying to sleep on it. No hairdryer in the room, after enquiring three times if we could have one, we were finally advised there wasn’t any spare. New mattresses and bedding would make this a much nicer place to stay.

Comfortable room in an excellent location. Lovely breakfast. Being able to park there is an added bonus. The only drawback was that the Wi-Fi wasn’t accessible in the bedroom.

The Elephant and Castle in Holmfirth, while aesthetically appealing, falls short in several basic areas. Upon check-in, I was informed that weekday breakfasts were limited to a continental option, though a bacon sandwich was kindly offered and delivered. However, I was required to pay an unexpected £50 deposit for room damages upfront. The room was exceedingly cold, despite the radiator being on full blast. The towel radiator in the bathroom provided minimal relief but was difficult to operate due to its height. Night one was disrupted by rattling sash windows with loose latches, forcing me to sleep in a T-shirt due to the Arctic-like temperature. On the second evening, the staff directed me to leave my key in the door and exit via the fire escape the next morning, raising concerns about the deposit return process. Breakfast was unavailable, contrary to prior information. The room lacked turndown service—coffee, biscuits, and the bed were untouched from the previous day. In the bar, no last orders bell was given, and service abruptly ended at 11 pm without forewarning. The back-of-house areas were disappointing, though the room presentation was commendable. Wi-Fi was limited to the bar area, and poor 4G signal compounded communication issues. Ultimately, I left for The Bridge Hotel for a proper breakfast and decided to return to my preferred hotel for future visits. A week later, I had to call for my £50 refund; it was not issued voluntarily. While the rooms resemble well-pre

Nice rooms, comfy bed and friendly staff. Green Emergency Light in the room kept me awake during the night as it was too bright. We had to try and cover it. When pub is open its noisy so wouldn't book if you need an early night.

Lovely room, nice staff. Seemed expensive for type of property. Noice from the bar carried up into the bedroom until very late (it was a Saturday). Thought it unusual to be charged a deposit in case of damage, to be refunded to card later.

The young lady who checked us in was very friendly and explained everything we needed to know. The room was beautifully presented, modern and clean. Breakfast was cooked to order and was perfect. We will definitely be visiting again.

Last stayed at the Elephant & Castle 6yrs ago what a pleasant surprise on check-in, completely refurbed. Friendly, helpful staff, room was spotless and very comfortable, great breakfast which catered for my gluten free diet. Will stay again.

No wi fi in bedroom. Only english breakfast on offer but staff did offer egg alternative. Only one coffee allowed second cup chargeable as other breakfast alternative. Dedicated parking good. Had a long wait for check in due to staff shortage and busy bar.

Room was okay for the price, some communication issues about breakfast, we booked breakfast for 10am not realising that checkout was also 10. I asked if we could pay for a later checkout so that we could allow our breakfast to digest but was bluntly refused. It felt unnecessary as they only have 4 rooms to clean before 3pm. We will not stay there again.

Have stayed here several times. Lovely food Not happy at having to pay extra £50 deposit because of other people damaging things. We now having to wait 3/4 days for this to be refunded which don’t agree with.

Really nice stay great position

Had a lovely weekend in Holmfirth staying at The Elephant and Castle. We received a friendly welcome on arrival. We had a fab Sunday lunch prepared by Andy. Food was piping hot, plentiful, and very, very good. And those Yorkshire puds! The room was warn, comfortable, and very clean. It was a great place to stay and very handy for the Picturedrome. Breakfast the next day was served by lovely Libby and again prepared by Andy. Just what we needed to set us up for the day. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back. Thanks again for a great stay, especially Libby, who was very attentive.

Close to the music venue. Nice friendly staff. Cooked breakfast would be ideal as dont have a sweet tooth for the delivered breakfast so didn't eat anything.

Breakfast was a joke. A can of fanta, an apple, a Lidl yoghurt and a pre-packaged mini croissant.

Like most hospitality they didn’t seem to have enough staff. The room was good but above the bar area and quite noisy. Breakfast was really good but we were not asked what we wanted we were just given a full English breakfast There was no questions about allergies or if we were vegetarians.
