Days Inn by Wyndham Alpena

The hot tub is in need of shocking to much foaming in Alpena for the water been there several times and always too much foam in the water

No elevator ! Put on 2nd. Floor. Both Of us seniors. Breakfast rating 2. Choice of waffel ,toast, and cereal.

Convenient parking

There were no locks on the exterior doors. At one time there was a keycard scanner, but it was inactive during our stay and the door did not have a lock of any kind. Anyone outside could walk right into the first or second-floor hallways. Our room door didn't shut completely on it's own, you had to give it an extra push for the latch to catch. The first time we can back to the room I was able to just push it open without using the key. The pool area was incredibly hot with no ventilation. The breakfast area was small with limited options. For the price that we paid it was not worth the money.

The pool and hot tub area were the nastiest I have ever seen. They were green and the pool deck was black and chipping. It smelled horrid and we couldn’t even keep the door open to the pool area for more than a minute before feeling nauseous. The room was clean and nice. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was not great. The oatmeal looked like murky water. The pastries looked ok. No proteins though.

The pool and hot tub need attention.

The only thing I did not like was at the outer doors did not lock so you didn't need a key to get into the building

The furniture in our room was poor quality and was broken. Not safe to sit in. The hall entry doors from the outside did not lock so our key cards were not needed. Not secure! Room door had to be pulled or pushed shut as it did not close all the way. Whoever does the snow removal did not do a good job. Parking lot not very clear, sidewalks not kept up.

The Pool Area really needs cleaned

Room was very clean when we arrived and beds were comfortable. Easy and ample parking. Our son enjoyed the pool

This place is disgusting. Should literally be shut down for numerous health code violations. Upon check in at 1:15 AM I immediately called the front desk and asked them to change my room as it smelled really bad. They said they had no more rooms. I noticed bugs flying around, I went to sleep. Woke up the next morning found hair and blood or some kind of body fluids in the shower, heavy mold on the wall under the A/C unit, dead and live bugs everywhere. See photos. The room looks NOTHING like the photos on their advertisement. I don't know how they have such a good rating. Place is dangerous, and a health hazard. Disgusting.

Very clean

Dirty place. Wallpaper falling off the wall. Shower curtain stains seemed fresh. Bathtub stained and dirty. Smelled of cigarettes and pot.

When first walking in it appears clean. Once in the room, I noticed feces in the side of the bed, a blood stain on the fitted sheet. I killed a cockroach there also. When I talked to lady at front desk, she told me it was not a cockroach. It most certainly was. The front desk clerk could not put me in touch with a manager, no email, no number, nothing. I asked her to take my name and number and have him get in touch with me. She told me she could not do that for a few days, she had something going on that night and then court the following day. I was shocked she could not connect with the manager while working. She made it sound like she could only contact him in the evening because, he was at another hotel working. There was no help for our issues, I cleaned the feces off the bed myself. Never was told there wasn't an elevator, wandered around with two handicapped people looking. Finally had to ask. Had to have room switched from second to first floor. Room was right by pool and smelled musty. Took your breath away when walking in.

We’ve stayed here twice Both times the rooms have been clean and check in is easy

The air conditional in the room was filthy. Black, oily substance on it. The grab bar in the shower had some kind of substance on it as well, like it hadn't been wiped down after cleaning. The counter top was not clean. Had a salt like subtance all along the counter.

Rooms were clean and modern. We enjoyed our stay and would pick this hotel if in the area again.

The place has been updated which is very nice. Only complaint is it’s an old building and has a bit of an order. Would stay again.

This property has had some renovations, but some are still need updating. The beds were nice, clean and comfy and living areas were updated and comfortable. The air conditioner worked, but was kinda old and some items in the bathroom were in need of replacement (Kleenex dispenser, door/door handle, heat register and bathroom trim is new, but it was done very poorly). These items aren’t dealbreakers, but it gives the impression the hotel isn’t as nice as it could be. The shower and shower head were very clean. Our room had a really weird butterscotch or syrup smell. We opened up the window to air it out, which it didn’t help. Hallways also had a strange smell too. Our stay wasn’t awful, but I’m not sure we’d stay here again if in the area.

The bed frame was loud and it made a popping sound.

Overall everything was good. The air conditioner could barely keep up during daylight hours. It looked like it was from the 1980s or 1990s (square, Amana, window style but in the wall, dark fake wood grain). The hallways were not air conditioned. It was actually cooler outside than in the hallway.

It was very nice stay. King room. Large bathroom. Comfy bed.

Alpena is a small town. We had never been there so deciding on a place to stay wasn't easy. We could not have been more pleased with this Wyndham Days Inn. It was in walking distance to a Wal-mart, Applebees, and several other stores. That was nice. Also the room was huge in size compared to other places we stayed. We stayed 5 nights and would do it again!

The bed mattress were to hard. The fall foliage trip was great and the hotel was located a half hour from most of our destinations.

The beds sound like you're laying on a cheap cookie sheet. It's a mattress on top of a thin aluminum sheet, literally. Every time someone rolls in your room, you hear the sound of a cookie sheet "thundering". In addition, not very clean.

Average but clean room. Was a bit noisy, could hear a door that kept opening & closing a few doors down.

Just wish the windows locked. I was told that they have 50+ cameras and it was safe without locks on windows. I feel that ALL windows in the rooms should be able to lock. Front staff person was rude, saying that she don't need my money. All i asked for was a receipt saying i paid for my dog at $20 per night. She must have been having a bad day...

Hi… it’s 3:30 AM. Despite being exhausted, I’ve yet to sleep. You see, I missed the part in the motel description that claimed that the Flintstones are big fans of these motel beds. I got the “granite” mattress. In town for one night for a friend’s funeral and then facing a long day of driving. I need sleep! I have never been more uncomfortable or less able to sleep in a space whose very business is to provide a place for folks to sleep. It actually hurts to lay on this bed. I’ve never done this before, but I went to the front desk to plead my case. I asked for another room. He said he’d have to charge me. I tried to reason with him: it’s already 3:30, I’ll only be using the room for 4 hours. The parking lot was empty - it wasn’t like there was a Flintstones convention in town. They had a room to spare, I won’t even get under the covers they would never know I was there. He stared at me blankly. He wasn’t going to get tricked by pesky logic. I asked if I could sleep on the lobby couch. He wasn’t having it. Long story short, I got a $10 discount to sleep in the room next to my son on a mattress that caused me only 5/10 pain level., I’m so bummed. They had the chance to do something nice for a customer in distress and they failed. We will not be patronizing this establishment again. If you do book here, bring an air mattress/yoga mat/extra blankets to sleep on and save your body. Also - the whole place needs a good, soapy, scrubbing.

I encountered an issue with my booking, but the owners helped me resolve it with the booking site and made everything right.

Yes the first the gentleman that was at the desk was absolutely wonderful. The second night the lady that worked the front desk was a little snarky.

Great Staff!

When I checked in I had a guy standing right behind me and the lady at the desk said my room number outloud. I was also signing a paper that had my full name and address on it, I signed and quickly flipped it over, I almost went back up to change rooms. Right away I didnt feel safe, that should definitely be addressed. My room is right by the vending machine that woke me up everytime someone used it, theres a good gap at the bottom of the door so any noise in the hallway I can hear loud and clear. Everytime the air goes on it woke me up from its weird sound it made. I am staying here for business and now I am exhausted. Overall, I did not get any sleep and will be looking for a different hotel next time.

The woman that checked us in was great. She was very helpful with giving us directions with maps and places to eat. Just wish I could remember her name.

The other Days Inn locations that we’ve stayed at over the past several years have included a hot breakfast. (ie Gaylord which is one of the best Days Inns we’ve ever experienced.) The small amount that we saved by staying here versus another of the hotels in town that include a hot breakfast wasn’t enough to justify staying here rather than with one of them. Next time…..

Nice room, clean. Comfy bed. Surprisingly good hotel coffee! My only complaint is that, like most hotels, the shower head is unfortunately low for me (6'). Another point to consider is the hotel is not downtown. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it means driving to food.

Short walk to our room from the parking lot. Walking distance to restaurants and not a far drive to downtown.

Alpena is a small town. We had never been there so deciding on a place to stay wasn't easy. We could not have been more pleased with this Wyndham Days Inn. It was in walking distance to a Wal-mart, Applebees, and several other stores. That was nice. Also the room was huge in size compared to other places we stayed. Easy peasy checkin. Clean comfortable rooms, breakfast better than expected. Close to many eateries and shopping. Very quiet, hardly saw a soul when entering and exiting room.

Convenient location. Entry was not protected by lock. Exterior needed a bit of a spruce up (windows not clean, for example).

Better room than I expected for the price. Would stay here again. Conveniently located to restaurants and Walmart and Meijer.

The check-in was good and the room was clean. You could see in the ceiling where it was leaking. Breakfast was not what I was expecting so I was disappointed about that. The pool and hot tub were nice.

We always stay at this Days Inn when we visit Alpena. It is starting to show its age, but it is always quiet at night. We tried to use the whirlpool, but it smelled terrible and it seemed in need of a drain and a good cleaning rather than adding more chemicals. Breakfast is passable and staff are friendly!

breakast was very slight. But did have fruit. Location was walkable to an Aplebee's

great rate...bfast was only coffee, toast or waffles....no eggs or sausage....this was fine, as long as you know what to expect.

Room was outdated but in good shape and clean. The breakfast was very basic and did not have many fresh or options aside from pre-packaged food. Overall the stay was fine but we expected more for the price we had to pay for the stay

Comfortable bed, and clean! Nothing spectacular but really liked the breakfast included! Many options and ready early for those of us up early! Would stay here again!

Staff were friendly, good location. The breakfast good of been way better, not many choices, pre made omelets that you had to warm up.
