Easy and accessible Not the best location in Morro bay, but easy to get to and from, nice service, with a good recommendation for coin laundry as it was not on site, could use a cup of coffee more in the room as there was no breakfast on site. Wi fi not super speed but worked.

This is a motel, but steps above your typical roadside motel. The owners are a mom and pop team who are super friendly and keep the rooms spotlessly clean. The inn is also in close proximity to many dining options, the waterfront, and the Saturday farmers market. The area is also very quiet and totally safe. Though the free parking lot is small and can fill up on busy weekends, there is ample street parking. The only downsides were the mattress topper was a bit soft and lumpy for our taste, and pillows a bit flat, but no real problem for us. This motel is a great value for Morro Bay.

It was a great little place to have one to two nights at a clean, quant, comfortable vacation :) my boyfriend and I stayed there for one night and it was perfect! It’s single level, so on one above us, which was very nice! Staff was very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!!

I like that it is a small quiet hotel with parking right outside the room. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have stayed there several times and have never had a bad experience. Thank you, Sundown Inn for a pleasant stay.

Giving this 5 stars - not because it's a fancy hotel, of course, but because the hosts are so charming, the location is perfect, the parking is easy and safe, the room is very clean and has everything you need - including windows that open, even in the bathroom, and the price is right!

I spent 2 days visiting the Central Coast and the towns/missions along the 101 and used the motel as my base. It was clean, quiet, reasonably priced and conveniently located near the Morro Bay waterfront. There was enough parking for all of the guests, and it was easy to contact and get supplies from the owner on site when needed.

Cutest little motel. Dated but in a cute way. SUPER clean (coming from someone who gets grossed out easily at hotels). The linens smelled fresh and there was no dust. We are sensitive to pet dander and dust so I always worry but we had zero issues. The bed had an old-fashioned “magic fingers” vibration mechanism that our 7yo got a kick out of. The place was quiet and charming and super close to everything. We didn’t use our car once to walk around downtown. We will definitely stay here again.

The motel is very cute!!! It is a little old school but in a cute and kept up way. We loved the motel it was so quiet and very clean. Beautiful succulents every where! The owners are very nice! She actually gave me a baby succulent so I can start my own. My only complaint was the bed. It was a little on the hard uncomfortable side, but everything else was great. My kids loved the massage machine for the bed!! It was a step back in to the 90s. We put a quarter in the machine and the kids laughed.

This is a very cozy older property that has been maintained and lots of little charming touches added like lace curtains and cute decorations. The ownership is wonderful; kind, attentive and genuine. There is a coffee maker in the room, refrigerator and a microwave. There is WiFi. It is walkable to the waterfront and the neighborhood is quiet. My only (tiny) issue was I could hear people talking in rooms on either side and I am very sensitive to sound but I was able to drown it out by using white noise app on my phone.

Very pleasant surprise ❣️I booked a stay for three night. This hotel is a small family owned, single level, with a view to Morro Bay Rock, the three smoke stacks, and two small blocks from the bay restaurants and shops. Hotel room was very clean, wood floors, nicely done ceiling, walk in closet for your clothe, small refrigerator and microwave, nice and clean bathroom and shower. We did a lot of walking, so this place was perfect, we would return to our room to rest, watch TV, shower, and get ready to go sightseeing. Sundown Inn was very quiet for a 4th of July weekend. Absolutely quiet street and at night we slept peacefully. The mattresses were very comfortable. The owner Ms. Ann was very nice and came by a couple of times to see if we needed anything. I had some plant cutting that the lady at the Bead Shop gave me and Ms. Ann kindly gave me a vase to put them in. Sundown Inn was perfect and we will return. We’ve stayed here before and it’s always clean and tidy. Super kind owners and they really seem to care and are attentive. Basic amenities with a reasonable price. Bed is comfortable. My husband likes firmer, I like softer and be both slept well. We normally don’t choose motels but opt for hotels. This one is an exception to our rule. A nice bonus is that we had a nice view of Morro Rock when exiting our room. 😁

The room was remodeled and nice. It was also very clean and comfortable. The proprietor was very helpful, informative and friendly. I could hear the neighbors and there was a lamp which could be repaired. But we were happy with the stay and would consider staying here again.

Our stay was excellent! Very comfortable and clean. The owners even helped return our son’s childhood stuffed animal he’s had for over 10 years back to us after leaving him behind in the room we stayed. Ta Lin went above and beyond to locate and ship our beloved Shay the fox back to us. We will definitely be recommending the Sundown Inn for anyone looking for a great place to stay while in Morro Bay.

We have never stayed in Morro Bay, but we decided to this time when we went to the Central Coast. This motel/hotel is adorable, clean and Ann and her husband (the owners) are kind and welcoming. The location is perfect for walking down to Embarcadero St or up Morro Bay Blvd to shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here as it's clean, quiet and close to everything.

Great location! Close to local shops and the Embarcadero. We usually leave our car parked and walk because everything is so close. Hotel is nice and clean and hotel staff is warm and welcoming.

The Sundown Inn has updated wood flooring, but a quaint homey feel. Beds were comfortable. Room and property was very clean. Walking distance to shops. Would definitely stay again. We enjoyed our stay.

Older, but well-maintained and updated rooms. Family-owned, and they couldn't be nicer. They seemed genuinely concerned about guests. Morro Bay rock is visible from teh parking lot, and there are many shops and restaurants within a few blocks. I will definitely stay again.

We have never stayed in Morro Bay, but we decided to this time when we went to the Central Coast. This motel/hotel is adorable, clean and Ann and her husband (the owners) are kind and welcoming. The location is perfect for walking down to Embarcadero St or up Morro Bay Blvd to shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here as it's clean, quiet and close to everything.

Easy and accessible Not the best location in Morro bay, but easy to get to and from, nice service, with a good recommendation for coin laundry as it was not on site, could use a cup of coffee more in the room as there was no breakfast on site. Wi fi not super speed but worked.

The Sundown Inn has everything one needs when traveling, in the room, and on the property. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless clean and have items for travelers - soap, shampoo, kleenex, coffee or tea, large closet, etc.

We really enjoyed this cute little hotel. It has a very homey feel that made us feel instantly comfortable. The owners are so kind and go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were very clean and the showers were some of the best I’ve had in a hotel. It’s so close to all the most popular places to eat that we walked everywhere. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone.

The room was very clean and well appointed. All the convinces one would want. A/C, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Even nice pretty coffee cups and saucers. Not giant rooms but plenty big. The room was decorated nicely and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would easily stay here again.

PROS: Very close to beach, shopping and restaurants! Friendly staff. Easy parking.Clean rooms. Coffee, refrigerator, and microwave in room. Old school massage bed!?! CONS: TV occasionally buffers. Beds are a little noisy. With all that said, I would stay there again.

This hotel is so sweet and cozy, conveniently located a few blocks from the "downtown" and the water. Lovingly decorated, the room was comfortable with a huge closet! I loved the real coffee cups, as I abhor plastic. Bathroom was clean. Beds were fine, with a magic fingers machine! Easy parking. The rooms appeared to have been renovated and completed with good taste. We were able to walk to the water to see the sea lions and to the downtown area to grab coffee from a local cafe. We were directed to Top Dog cafe a few blocks away, and it was delightful, and the coffee delicious. While we were only in town for one night, we felt like we had a restful vacation. When we arrived we were warmly greeted. There are glorious succulents thoughtfully placed in pots all over the property and they made me smile. The Morro Rock is a short, easy walk away, and a touchstone for the town. While we were there, we also went to Morro Made, a little shop full of artisan-made items, and if you're lucky you'll get to meet one of the artisans! Our son attends Cal Poly, which is just a 15-minute drive through beautiful scenery. The town of San Luis Obispo is accessible if you feel the need to explore, and Hearst Castle is also close by.

What a great place. We loved everything about this place. Real coffee maker. The china cups and saucers were so great. Very good storage spaces. Fridge with a freezer! The bathroom has a real cabinet with storage for toiletries. The bed was comfortable. Hearing worked very well. We will be back!

We’ve stayed here a couple of times and will keep coming back. The couple who owns the hotel are so kind and welcoming. They obviously take pride in it and want their guests to have a great time. You can walk to good coffee, pizza, beer, and more. It’s an experience that’s so much better than staying in a chain motel.
