Wonderful spot, walking distance to everything in Astoria. Pretty easy to find a parking spot nearby without a time limit. Hotel with shared showers and bathrooms, all of which were very clean. Entrance requires climbing a flight of stairs. You can borrow a record player for your room, and there is a vinyl library to browse as well.

Fun, right downtown in the older historic area. Love an independent hotel that hasn’t tried to retool for modern times. Rooms each have a sink, the bathrooms and showers in the hallways were never all full, so didn’t have to wait. The shared kitchen was clean and impeccably attended to.

The staff went over and above to make the property really cool. A fireplace in the common area with an assortment of records you could listen to in your room, complimentary hot chocolate and coffee each morning in the common area, bath robes to wear to the shower room, and a kitchen stocked with what you might need to make yourself some breakfast, along with a fridge for you to store your leftovers from supper out. We also appreciated the little fan in our room.

This was a really fun stay. The front desk loans out record players and old albums to play in your room. It's a cross between a hotel and a hostel. Nice kitchen you can use. Bathroom and showers down the hall. You get a sink in your room. They provide robes which is a nice touch. Location is great with restaurants and bars and shopping close. Parking is on the street. Bed was comfortable with nice bedding. Very friendly staff. Will stay again

The only reason I gave four stars is the parking situation kind of stinks- there is no parking except street parking, and we had to drive around a bit to find a spot somewhat nearby. You have to carry your luggage up a decent amount of stairs, which you’re told about ahead of time, but just be prepared. Also, if you’re a tv person, there’s no tv in the room- we actually really liked that, but it was unexpected. There is also no air conditioner, so we needed to keep the windows open all night for my hot-blooded husband. That being said, this was our favorite hotel of the trip. The front desk staff was lovely and friendly, the lobby is so fun and eclectic, and the room and decor was fun and funky. Loved it.

Great place: neat clean and friendly. Shared bathroom and shower rooms in the “cabin” rooms (the cheaper ones). But super clean plus tons of historical character in the 1924 building. Shared kitchen with full stove and shared refrigerator. Amazingly thoughtful logistics design for ease and hygiene. Most guests (like me) we of an age that we had experience in shared housing from our youth so this was very comfortable. A really positive experience and good nights sleeps!

The bathroom situation ended up to be more of a hassle than expected. The whole building smelled very ‘vintage’… but our room was a whole other level super stinky. Smelled like a man’s dirty socks to the point that we couldn’t sleep, even with the window open for airflow. The bedding was fresh and room was clean. Maybe the room needed extra attention after the last guest. We were only there for one night, so it was fine. I would stay somewhere else next time. Parking is a hassle.

Excellent value hotel in center of town, walking distance to most things. Street parking only. Selected room with private bath but shared bathroom was so clean that would not hesitate to stay in room with shared bathroom. Solo traveler. Felt safe at all times. Will return to this hotel in future.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. The staff members were so kind and welcoming. We appreciated the cleanliness, our room was spotless, and so were the surrounding common areas. The endless shops and restaurants are a huge plus! Everything is within walking distance. We highly recommend this hotel!

We’ve been here several times and the room is always clean. The staff is welcoming and patient. Be aware that this is an older building in the center of town, there can be street noise that the staff cannot control. Eat plugs are provided and the bed is super comfortable.

Street parking but very easy to find. No elevator so you will have to carry your luggage to the second floor. Not too bad if you only have a small luggage. Water pressure was a bit low, but the bathroom is big and clean. The bedding is amazing, so soft and fluffy.

The location was great, and the staff was very friendly. The room however ran hot, and we were put in an awkward one with our view being right into the people across, so we didn't feel comfortable opening the window or leaving the blinds open. (and even when we did try to leave it slightly open, there was zero breeze). Bed was smaller than expected but bathrooms and shared space was super clean.

We experienced a major issue during our stay that the staff was unable to remedy. I have 4 adult travelers in my group. I intentionally booked a room with a bed and futon. I even called before booking to confirm this. Upon check in I discovered that the only room available does not have a futon and that they gave that room to another person. 2 adults in my room were forced to sleep on the hard floor for 3 nights straight during their vacation. That decision also took away the ocean view. Other cons, while the room renovations are nice there is no AC. This matters during summer when the building cooks in the sun and leaving your window open at night means waking up every 15 min to loud vehicles on the street nearby. The springs in the mattress of 217 are also very worn out, leaving our backs sore. Currently I can only recommend this hotel to groups of 2 or less and outside of hot summer months.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here. The staff at my check in were great and the hotel itself was clean, safe and well kept, however the walls were really thin and sound carries very easily. I'm generally a deep sleeper and do not get easily disturbed, however the night that I stayed at the Norblad, the night shift staff member was doing laundry at night (which was located adjacent to my room) and throughout the night (starting at 2am), he would errupt in screams and shouts of abusive language waking me up multiple times and keeping me awake all night. One of the worst, if not the worst nights I've had at a hotel/hostel. Addtionally, it was very hot and there were no fans or a/c in the room adding to the discomfort. If you don't mind being disturbed with noise from other guests and can deal with heat, I would say everything else was perfectly fine.

The hotel itself is so cute and cozy. We stayed in the suite and had a great view of Fort George. What really made the hotel memorable was Sisco the night front desk. He was knowledgeable about Astoria and was just a delight

We love the Norblad Hotel. It is right in the heart of Astoria, across the street from Fort George brewing, Breakside Brewing, and Buoy Brewing. Street parking is easy and although there are homeless in the area, we've never had an issue with break-ins. The staff is fantastic. All the front desk gals are.so nice and helpful. The cleaning staff is very good, polite, and do a great job. The rooms are very basic and small but clean and comfortable. Most.rooms share toilets and bathrooms like a glorified hostel or some of the Mcmenamins properties in the northwest. The beds are soft and springy (not firm enough to my liking),but the pillows are really nice. There is no AC in the rooms so you have to open the window for fresh and cool air at night which is okay but you will hear all the street noises all the time. There are room fans provided but in the summer the rooms get stuffy if the fan is on and the window closed. Norblad has a community kitchen which is useful. This is an excellent value property and the staff here makes it a great stay.

Very unique property. Old historic building in the middle of downtown Astoria. Cool lobby decorated with old vinyl records. This is a European style hotel with lots of character. The rooms do not have modern appliances like TV's, microwaves, refrigerators or bathrooms. Instead, there are shared bathrooms and a community kitchen where you can cook and store your food (there are sinks in the rooms). Tons of restaurants within walking distance including breweries and food trucks.There is no elevator (not handicap friendly) and there is no parking lot. If you are okay with that, you will love this place. Definitely worth the low price.

Perfectly located in Astoria town. Very nice food and bar options a stones throw away. The staff were very friendly upon check in and check out. The common area lobby was nicely decorated. You could definitely chill there and they have free hot chocolate available. Highly recommend!

The room was very nice with lots of room. The bathroom was large clean. Liked very much. Disappointing they didn't have coffee in the morning as we were told when we checked in. The person said they ran out the day before.
