Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel

If you like the experience of older architecture built in the spirit of Budapest, then this is the place for you. A beautiful 20 room hotel. With wide spiraling stairs. An elevator is also available. Rooms are quiet and simplistically elegant. The restaurant has great food. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. This has been my favorite hotel experience in Europe.

Amazing local restaurant which serves good quality unlimited waiter served breakfast, off the menu. Open all day and evening. The staff are friendly and work extremely hard. I’ve stayed in many 5* hotels around the world and this small hotel with a beautiful staircase, rustic Hungarian charm is there at the top. Remember this is a European hotel with a super comfortable clean bed, enough water pressure with plenty of hot water. Windows that open to let fresh air in! 24 hour Reception very helpful. Slight disruption from noise outside on a Friday evening but wouldn’t put me off staying again. Great for a short stay or business trip to see this historic city.

I loved staying here! The room was beautifully furnished and decorated and the floor to ceiling curtains were everything. Even the bathroom was gorgeous. The whole place definitely had a historic and vintage feel to it. The spiral staircase was amazing and there is also a lift. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and assisted me in making the most of my time in Budapest.

I stayed 3 nights in this lovely hotel. It was quiet despite being right in centre of town. Position was around 10 min walk from shopping and wide range of restaurants and walkable to attractions and the sightseeing bus stops. Staff were very helpful and the room was large, clean and comfortable. Fresh coffee machine and a large old fashion bathroom with bath but no fixed shower which wasnt a problem. Restaurant at the front was lovely and staff great. Food great too. No other amenities to speak of just your room and restaurant but i was there to see the city not hang around the hotel. Room was quite warm even in spring with heating turned right down. No air con so might be hot in the summer. I would definitely stay here again as I love this style of hotel.

The Gerloczy Hotel is a gem. We selected to stay there based on the reviews and we are really happy that we did. It has a great location. It is close to the busy areas but not on a busy street. The room is very clean, a decent size, with good amenities and comfortable furniture—especially the bed. The shower is large and has great water pressure. We liked that there was restaurant in the hotel. Besides daily breakfasts, we ate twice at the restaurant during our five days there. We highly recommend the Gerloczy Hotel and would stay there again.

Et rigtigt dejligt hotel med fantastisk beliggenhed i rolige omgivelser. Vi boede på et værelse med to enkelt senge. Værelset var desværre ikke så "boutique-agtigt" som vi havde forventet og rengøringen var ikke helt i top. Udover det var personalet utroligt søde og hjælpsomme og morgenmaden, hvor man bare bestiller alt hvad man har lyst til fra menukortet (hvis man har betalt for morgenmad) var helt fantastisk.

Everything perfect as always. Very nice clean room, friendly staff, very central location.

Everything about the Gerlóczy was first class. Our room was spotless, roomy, air conditioned. The breakfast menu was varied, and the portions were such that we didn’t feel the need to eat again until late afternoon / early evening. All the staff were all extremely pleasant, helpful and delivered excellent service. We used the restaurant once during our stay, and the food we had was delicious.

The Gerloczy provides a very clean and comfortable place to stay in central Budapest. It has character, staff are polite and helpful and I love the adjoining brasserie. It has all the facilities needed and is less expensive than other hotels. This includes a Nespresso machine, lovely toiletries, minibar, hairdryer and robes if requested. Linen was kept fresh daily.

A really characterful and special hotel. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfasts superb. Bathroom was spacious but old fashioned which would not suit some (no walk in shower, hand shower over bath) - but we liked it and was part of the 1900s feel of the place. Both the guy during the morning reception and the night reception were super kind and helpful. The room was very good and had everything we needed. We had a problem with the AC in the room and they immediately helped us to solve it. I will definitely come back here every time I visit Budapest, I will recommend it :)

Lovely, quirky hotel out of the busyness of central Pest but still close to everything. The room was fabulous - I was up in the attic with a platform bed which I loved - and the restaurant excellent. Highly recommended!

Convenient location. Walkable and near transportation. Picked the hotel because it was boutique and had character. Main improvement I would suggest is the shower and toiletries. Shower leaked into the floor and the shampoo/conditioner made my hair greasy.

We had a beautiful stay in the room with a balcony towards the square. Lovely staff in an environment with preserved historical charm. Perfectly located in a hidden gem part of the historical parts. This review goes for both the hotel and the restaurant downstairs, which was an integral part of the stay. A visit to the restaurant across the street, Cabrio, is a must.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this characterful Hotel and would definitely recommend it. We had one of the rooms in the attic and whilst it was unique and comfortable, we would not suggest this room for anyone who has mobility issues as the bed is elevated and you have to climb up to access it. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of the centre and close to the Danube so ideal for sightseeing. There is a good selection for breakfast and we would highly recommend the restaurant where we had the best evening meal of our stay by far. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The Hotel arranged transport from and to the Airport for us which went without a hitch. Thank you to all at the Gerloczy Hotel, we had a lovely time.

Check-in was quick and smooth. Lovely decorated old time hotel/room with view of street. Loved all the decor in hotel and restaurant. Cleaned our rooms daily. Breakfast was amazing, cooked to order menu was delicious (tried something new each morning), and staff very nice and accommodating. Checked out late and was able to store our luggage for a few hours. Loved the location as it was walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go for our 3 day visit. Definitely recommend.

We stayed four nights at this hotel and were thoroughly satisfied. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived, throughout our stay, and at departure. We had mistakenly booked one night too few, only realizing this after heading out into the city. The staff responded quickly and helpfully, and arranged an extra night for us without any trouble. The rooms are beautiful—perhaps among the finest we’ve ever stayed in. With their high ceilings and elegant, classic décor, they evoke the feeling of being in late 19th-century Budapest, in the best possible way. We love this timeless style, and here it’s executed perfectly. The location is also ideal: very central, yet in a quiet and peaceful area. We highly recommend the hotel’s restaurant as well—delicious food and excellent service. Throughout our stay, we truly felt like valued guests who were well taken care of. We were in a hurry at checkout but I think she charged us for beers we never had at the hotel restaurant. They need to be cautious about people signing drinks to rooms they don’t occupy. We had one beer and one glass of wine with dinner when we arrived and paid with card that night. We did not have any other alcoholic drinks at the hotel.

Do not hesitate to stay here. Staff and rooms were excellent. We had 5 couples and everyone loved their room. Front desk staff were great, especially the woman on during the day. She went above and beyond when I lost my ID, shame on me for not remembering her name. Many thanks for all the help, whoever you are. Hotel is very walkable to shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing places. Would love to return to a wonderful hotel.

Friendly and great service

Terrific staff - I needed a haircut & one of their team set me up with a Hungarian barber who spoke English. The hotel is near the Jewish Quarter & it’s beautiful Grand Synagogue - a must see in Budapest. It’s also near the Ruin Bars - also very interesting. Go early if you want to avoid crowds. The hotel restaurant is good & service is excellent

We have stayed at the Gerloczy many times and have always enjoyed the great rooms, comfortable beds, cleanliness, great staff, great restaurant. Very conveniently located right downtown near the main tourist shopping and eating area but in a quiet square. Beautifully decorated rooms. Very walkable area but close to public transport. My favourite hotel in Budapest.

A character building in an excellent location.

My husband and I stayed at the Gerloczy in Budapest for 3 nights in February and had a really lovely stay. The location was perfect, room comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated in an old-world style (think wooden beams, brass fixtures, striped wallpaper) and the staff were efficient and friendly. We were traveling off-season so got a great price..I suspect it would have been beyond us otherwise so we feel very lucky. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend:)

Très bien situé. A 5 minutes de la grosse station de métro Deak ter et du bus 100E de l'aéroport. Dans une petite rue très calme et donnant sur une petite place tranquille. A 2 pas de la rue commerçante et touristique de Vaci utca. Bon accueil. Chambre tout à fait confortable et propre. La salle de bain conserve un air authentique et vintage. Le restaurant de l'hôtel est excellent.

Lovely small hotel with plenty of character. Restaurant is great too with tasty food and live music. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Location couldn’t be better, 5 minute walk from underground hub and airport shuttle bus. Many of the main attractions within walking distance too. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was perfect for our Budapest stay(4d,3 nights). Location was central to everything we needed to see on our visit. The hotel was so welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant attached was outstanding! I wish we would have eaten there more often. Add the breakfast option. Great value and wonderful food and many choices. Would definitely stay there again.
