This hotel was an interesting find. The room was nice and had the basic amenities, but since it didn't have an outside window, it had big windows to the hallway, which allowed sunlight to come through from the hallway windows. Breakfast was OK but didn't have the waffle options that many places have. Parking is tight. If you have a large vehicle, you better be a good driver.

My friend and I stayed here when I was having surgery. Obviously the hospital is across the street which made it convenient and an obvious choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only complaint regarding the room is that it was very muggy which made the bedding feel damp and we could really smell the laundry detergent because of it, which was not a deal breaker by any means. While I was in the hospital for surgery, my friend strolled around the area. He said that there was a lot of nice places to eat and shop within walking distance. The parking situation wasn't that great. Both lots are small and the parking spaces are super tight, but again, other than driving me to the front entrance of the hospital when I had surgery (it was raining pretty hard), my car was just parked. I would book it again if I needed to place to stay.

Staff were very friendly and the hotel was well kept. Parking was rather difficult and cramped. You have to enter a very narrow driveway that goes under and through the hotel to arrive at a parking lot behind the hotel.

The overall staff experience was nice. The rooms are much smaller than made to believe. The bathroom has mold all over the ceiling of the shower, even though i mentioned to several staff members that our bulk shower items (body wash and shampoo) that are hanging in the shower were empty, they never did get restocked. When you turned on the air conditioner it would rain in the bathroom sink area and something was dripping in the ceiling above the toilet the whole week.

The place was immaculate!! The rooms were so clean and so was the lobby and hallways!! The bed was comfortable. There was a lot of options for channels on the tv, and when you are in a hotel room and that is all you have to do, that is a great thing!! We would definitely stay there again!!

When I booked our room I didn’t realize there was an Aspen Select and an Aspen Suites and both are shown in the hotel main picture on this site. The hotel was not clean, the furniture and overall hotel is worn and starting to run down. The continental Breakfast was a few donuts some bread and some muffins, no hot food at all. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk for over 15 minutes for check in, the parking lot is pretty small and a tight fit. Front desk staff was not attentive or unfriendly. The chain lock in the room was broken off. The location was good as we walked across the street to St, Mary’s- Mayo Clinic and that was the only thing good about this hotel. I will shuttle to a different location than ever choose to stay here again.

Room was very nice, BUT there were no windows to the outside - for that reason we would not stay again. The only windows were to the outside hall, so if you want any privacy, you'd have to keep the drapes closed at all times - which makes it very dreary. It was very convenient walking to the hospital though - but not worth having no windows.

Very helpful staff and nice room. Clean & comfortable with dining options just steps away. Shuttle to Mayo. I question whether the air conditioner in the room was working properly as it continued to read 74 after being on cold fan 57 all night. It was a bit uncomfortable to sleep in the warmth.

There wasn’t any air condition at the time of our stay. They turn it off so you can’t turn it on during the winter months. It made the room uncomfortable at certain times of the day.

The climate control was set to heat only for the winter months, but it was so warm in the room (75 with the system off) that we were quite uncomfortable. In fact, my wife didn't sleep at all and I was waking up constantly. In addition, the curtains didn’t keep the exterior hall light out so it was and it was quite bright

This is a great place to stay if you need something affordable, comfy, and close to the Mayo Clinic. My biggest complaint is that the windows face the hallway which then has a wall of windows to the outside. So you can’t get direct sunlight without having the blinds open but that allows other guests in the hallway to see into your room. Other than that, it’s perfectly fine and clean to stay in.

Front desk lady was rude from the start when we checked in. No new towels “available”, no soap available in the bathroom (just empty dish soap) with no bar soap. We asked for a late checkout over the phone (talked to Ivan), we were told it was ok to checkout at 4pm if we payed a $60 fee. We said ok. When we checked out the front desk lady Lee told me that she corrected Ivan and would not honor what he said, that he was wrong for giving us the information and we had to pay for the whole night due to the “late checkout”. The whole thing was a nightmare, a mess. No manager available on the weekends either, which made everything even harder. I’ve never written a bad review about a hotel before, this one was the worst mistake I’ve ever made.

We enjoyed our stay. The only problem that we had was in the day/night of our arrival. We were housed in room 410 and there was an constant, irritating noise coming from the vent in the bathroom ceiling. We tried it the first night but it kept us awake. In the morning we talked to the desk staff (who were all wonderful) and they promptly moved us to another room.

Our AC wasn’t working 100%, but the desk staff immediately brought a fan, which helped. This is a great location for St. Mary’s and nice dining places and is moderate walking distance to Mayo. We would definitely stay again.

Overall, this hotel is good. The rooms were clean, the furnishings were very comfortable, the bathrooms were nice, and you can't get more convenient to the Joseph Building at Mayo. However, there was one employee at the front desk who was quite rude and not helpful. She set our entire stay off on a bad note and made us not want to ever stay here again. It might be good for the hotel to remind their staff that a lot of people staying there are dealing with an extremely stressful life situation and to be a little more patient and compassionate. Also, most rooms don't have actual walls to the hallway (they are windows instead), which let in a lot of light and noise.

This hotel was a great choice for me since I was able to walk to the Mayo Clinic. The construction by the clinic makes it almost impossible to park. I lost my car fob and the front desk clerk found it for me and called to tell me. He went above and beyond.

Our family was at Rochester for two weeks for my kiddos heart surgery. As you can imagine, it was a stressful time. The staff at Aspen select and Aspen suites were incredibly helpful and friendly. Their smiles and warm personalities made us stay wonderful. I will definitely be staying there again on our follow up visits. They made it at home away from home. The rooms were always clean, tidy, and comfortable. The convenience of being right across from the hospital was so helpful! And it had plenty of restaurants within five minutes of walking. We so appreciate you all.

Parking very convenient. Everything else adequate. Coffee was very good as well as the cookies. Appreciated the fact that the room did not smell of deodorizing spray. People were fine. Breakfast would be better if you gave everybody a discount coupon to go somewhere and had only coffee, bagels, cookies juice and milk. Do a deal with the Hospital Cafeteria.

This is an older but well kept property, and our first stay. We usually stay at the Aspen Suites (next door), but it was unavailable. The breakfast was fine, but no hot food offered with the exception of toast. I’d stay here again.

It seemed to be a remodeled older property.The breakfast options were ok, but not great. No hot items, just donuts, yogurt. Cereal, Oatmeal etc.

This hotel is right across from St Mary’s. It has a shuttle to Mayo or you can walk to St Mary’s and take the patient one there. Several places to eat close by. Breakfast does not offer anything hot or healthy except fruit. That was the only thing negative about staying there. I will stay there again and would recommend this hotel.

Very convenient to St Mary’s hospital, right across the street. Offers coffee and fresh cookies in the evenings. Continental breakfast was ok. Staff pleasant and helpful, rooms clean with fridge and microwave.

Clean hotel very close to the Mayo Clinic about 3 minutes by car. Room was very clean, breakfast was decent and fresh cookies a nice perk. When we checked in the front desk person was a bit rude but overall had a great stay would come back.

Water in shower not hot enough.. Cumbersome tv remote usage. Had to put a dash in for a dot as it was sattellite tv.It was very awkward. No hot breakfast. Unable to use senior or military discount..Was advised since I booked through expedia I couldnt use them. Check-in was very easy and smooth..

The only thing I didn't like about my room was no window to the outside. If I slid my floor to ceiling drapes open, the was a hallway With a whole wall of windows on the other side but then anyone walking down the hall had a full open view of my room with no privacy. That wall should be 6 foot or 6.5 feet tall with a window all the way across to allow light from the hallway window to enter the rooms and still give you privacy.
