We stayed in the William Jefferds House. Pros: It was lovely to stay in a historic building, which has been well maintained. There were chairs to sit outside and a large lounge and sunroom on the ground floor to relax in. Wifi was good. Breakfast buffet wasn't large but the food was fresh and tasty. Free coffee and cookies available in the kitchen. Parking is available, although it was a little tight on the first night because of a huge pickup truck sticking out of one space (it might have been better to ask them to park in the road). Room was clean and comfortable. Location is excellent - very easy walk into Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. Cons: Nothing significant. Our room wasn't that big by American standards, even if there was plenty of space by European standards. It was up a few flights of stairs and there is no lift, but we were made aware of this in advance so it wasn't a problem.

What a beautiful property! Staff was warm and wonderful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the common seating areas and available game boards by the fire, as well as the outdoor fire pit. We stayed in the Nathaniel Lord Mansion and found ourselves walking throughout the building to admire the architecture and period decor; the varying wallpaper throughout is stunning. Our room was luxurious, romantic, and well-appointed. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for. Do not sleep through the breakfast… here’s hoping that when you spend the night, the staff prepares Mansion Favorite Sticky Buns. Words cannot express how delicious they are! I came home with the recipe and some helpful pointers from the very friendly chef. The location of the property is definitely walking-friendly, with downtown Kennebunkport just a short jaunt away. We cannot wait to return!

Paula and Erica (I hope that was her name) in the office were so accomodating and friendly! Any place that welcomes me with homemade chocolate chip cookies and tea gets a favorable vote! Stayed in a suite that was very nicely decorated and unique. Loved the vibe of the community areas including the fireplace room where we had a delicious breakfast! Love that bikes are available for guest use. Great location. Would recommend!

Antique homes renovated to contemporary style. Very well done. Decent breakfast included and coffee/tea and snacks available all day. Bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels included also. On brand with other Lark hotels I’ve stayed at.

Very nice close to town free bikes and chairs and towels to take to the beach can walk to the pier and downtown. Very good breakfast.

A beautiful set of homes in a beautiful and central part of town. The breakfasts are so clutch. The amenities are so great. We snagged bikes and rode to the beach, we read and sipped drinks out on the beautiful lawn couches, and always grabbed a cookie in the afternoons. Staff was friendly and helpful. We hope to be back soon.

Absolutely beautiful property. Only downside was carrying our luggage up 3 flights of stairs! Within walking distance to shops and dining. Would definitely recommend!

We loved the blend of historic bed & breakfast and modern hotel. Communication was great before, during, and after our stay. Amenities were lovely. Loved the availability of bikes and beach towels. We started our mornings with an excellent selection at continental breakfast; loved that tea and water were available all day and night, and the evening cookies were delicious. The bed was comfortable; supportive and soft. Loved the seating area in front of our in-room fireplace. Wish the robes were larger and we would have liked more hooks on the wall to hang our belongings. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, we can’t wait to come back!

We loved the property - so classic and elegant. The breakfast was especially lovely with plenty of options. We had quiche straight out of the oven. When we came in at night, there was a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for guests. Lots of parking was available, a huge bonus since there is no parking in the town. The staff was very attentive, even answered questions that we texted while away from the hotel. We will definitely be back again.

This property is gorgeous and well maintained. All of the amenities are very thoughtful. The location cannot be beat (very walkable to town but also a bit set back on a quieter street). Breakfast in the morning was lovely and the room and house itself was beautiful. We will be back many times!

Great location with beautiful common areas and updated bathrooms. Bedroom as sufficient and comfortable, but 'historic' to be sure (some worn edges, peeling paint, etc.). Great location to do all things Kennebunkport by foot, plus easy drive to surrounding towns

Loved this hotel! Very cute New England colonial feel. Very close to downtown Kennebunkport. We drove to downtown because it was a bit cold but it’s an 8 min walk. Overall great place, staff was helpful and place was clean and updated! Would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful stay in the Deluxe Queen on the first floor of the Jefferd's House. The room was bright, cheery, updated and clean. The fireplace was a real bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend this property and definitely plan to stay there again.

Great old mansion. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly. Very convenient to downtown area and numerous restaurants. Room itself had wallpaper coming off the walls and bed was very creaky.

This hotel was wonderful start to finish- despite a rainy weekend. The property is beautiful and unique with renovated traditional, New England style houses made into hotel rooms. Our room was immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast provided was fresh and delish. We will absolutely be coming back.

Staying in the off season is great if you want quiet and a more relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was amazing, the room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable. I will say that the room can get pretty hot and there was no option to blow cooler air.

We had a very enjoyable 4 night stay here. We stayed in the Nathanial Lord Mansion and our room was clean, stylish and very comfortable. Breakfast was served each morning in our mansion and was very nice with a different hot option every day. The inn is located within very easy walking distance of everything Kennebunkport has to offer - shops, cafes and restaurants. All in all an excellent stay and highly recommended!

Just to say this was our 26th visit to this property 25 of which was when it was Captain Lord Mansion, so we are qualified to make a good judgement.The heart and soul have been ripped out of this property since Lark Hotels took over. Our room (27) former Callander Room, had peeling wallpaper everywhere, the shower heads were full of scale and leaking so didn’t work properly and the cleanliness was not up to previous standards. The landing carpet had a huge bleach stain on it, the paint in general was chipped throughout and worn furnishings. For the price we paid £900 for 2 nights stay was quite frankly unacceptable. Won’t be staying here again, sadly.

We liked the preserved historic buildings. The service and breakfast was good. However, the mattress was awful. It was too soft and after the first night I was in pain, since it aggravated shoulder problems. I would not stay there again, especially for the price of the room.

Stayed in Room 11 of the Jefferds House. The building itself has a surprising yet stylish modern decor, unexpected in an antique home. Nicely done, though. My favorite space out of all the common areas is the breakfast room, a sunny space decorated in shades of green. Just lovely. We enjoyed our room on the third floor - a cozy and sunny nook that overlooks the park and has a glimpse of the ocean off in the distance. The only thing I hope they consider fixing is the bed in room 11. The frame is so creaky you can’t move muscle without it creaking loudly. I’m not exaggerating either. Any type of shifting or turning during the night was a sound event. I wanted to love it but that did affect sleep quality. The bathroom is a bit tight because there is a gorgeous and spacious tiled glassed-in shower - very nice. We checked in over at another home across the park which is part of the same hospitality group. We planned on going back over there to check out the common areas and gift shop in that building but never got a chance to before we left to go home. We would, however, love to go back at some point and perhaps try staying in that building (Nathaniel Lord) since we are fairly local.

Beautiful hotel and location. Very convenient for walking around Kennebunkport. The room we stayed in (Jefferds House, Room 14) was up a exterior flight of stairs with multiple floor levels within the room itself - so if mobility is an issue for anyone in your party, it would be good to speak with the staff about which rooms would be best for your needs. There is very little sound insulation in this particular building - could clearly hear conversations in adjoining rooms. Breakfast buffet was nice. Grounds are beautiful in summer!

This boutique property was amazing! Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was huge. The location was perfect also. The staff was very warm and friendly and quick to answer any questions we had. They even shared their cookie recipe with us!

We stayed in one of the older / darker rooms. It had charm but in hindsight, I would have preferred the brighter rooms which were pictured on the website. A hot breakfast is included with one hot dish each morning as well as fruits and yogurt. One of our egg dishes was undercooked and the yogurt offered was underwhelming- most likely from store bought containers. It is a great location, walking distance to all of the restaurants, bars and shopping. We had our car so we were able to drive to other popular sites including the beach.

The house and property were well taken care of. Our room on the third floor was quite small for the price.

I absolutely loved the suite and all of its amenities. My husband was not as thrilled, but he is a man, so I don't think he fully appreciated the beauty of the rooms, the attention to detail, and the things that women like. Breakfast was delicious and just enough to get us going on our way without filling us up too much. We did walk the property quite a bit, and its location close to downtown was a real bonus, as we had never been to Kennebunkport before, so we loved it. I personally loved the mix of the original details with the modern ones throughout the property, and it was an absolute delight to stay in. If we could have stayed another night on our journey north to Bar Harbor, I would have done it. I slept like a log on the extremely comfortable mattress. I would definitely stay here again!

I would have given this hotel a perfect score except for the problem with the noise insulation in these 200 year old homes. You can hear everything in the other rooms and in the commons areas. The first night, there was about 8 people having normal conversation and we could hear everything. Luckily they call it a night at 10:30

The property is lovely. We had a room upstairs, which made it difficult to navigate. The other change we would have liked is a thorough tour of the property and amenities. We found out from other guests about options to put over site food in small quantities in the refrigerator. Overall this is a lovely place. The on site management is lacking. Guests have to find the manager of the day to ask for needs. The concierge service was not offered as stated. However, after an 8 day stay, we figured things out. A booklet explaining services offered and the daily routine would be nice.

The Nathaniel Lord house is an impressive federal period home from the outside. It is very original inside thanks to the previous owners of 40 years. One cool detail is a separate spiral stair that leads to the octagon rooftop lookout. We’ve stayed at dozens of inns in the northeast and this is not a good inn. The interior is poorly furnished. The upper hallways are strangely empty where you would expect a secretary, lamps, clock, something. There is only one public all purpose room to sit in. It’s crowded & inadequate at best since the house has 16 bedrooms! They should eliminate the odd boutique store and have a few other lounge spaces & a dining area. A quality inn such as the 14 room Jackson House in Woodstock has 6 relaxing lounge areas dining. Each room has unique furnishings & period stuff in the mix. The furnishings in the parlor here are ugly & inappropriate. They must be the result of some misguided interior decorator. The bedrooms have a nice working fireplace & the 4 poster bed was comfortable. The only artwork over the fireplace looks like it was picked up at a yard sale. We paid $850 for 2 nights off season. The website & nosebleed prices here suggest they are in the premium hospitality biz. However our only human contact was a brief summary at check in. No innkeeper, nowhere to relax, limited breakfast with cold mini quiche, big empty building with a lot of closed doors, a few text message updates. This is the cold corporate $ mentality at its worst.

The property was very tastefully decorated and we loved the period feel Room was small and lack of space was the main thing we would have changed Reception closing at 7pm seemed early and made our late arrival more fraught than we would have liked- when they were there they were very helpful- we loved the location and the town so overall was a great to stop for 4 nights

The Captain Jefferd\'s is an old sea captains mansion. I have stayed here several times in the past before C19. It was always cozy and full of New England charm. Unfortunately the new owners, Larkin, have "modernized" the interior and in my opinion it does not reflect the New England charm it used to. No one is there to greet you when you arrive (as in former times). Had to track down a guest and ask where to check in & that was in another house across the street! While they did upgrade the atrium where breakfast is set out and it is nice, I miss the old charm of the sit down plated delicous morning breakfast at the very long dining table in front of the fireplace with the other guests. Now there is one hot item, quiche mostly, which unfortunately was cold.....have to heat it in microwave, some nice fresh made yogurt with fixings, some hard boiled eggs and usually a pastry. There is a keurig coffee maker, and a kettle to make your own coffee/tea. The oj was very good. There was milk and cream. In the afternoon they had some delicious cookies set out. The one STANDOUT employee there...the employee that went out of their way to make us feel welcome was DONNA. I give her a BIG SHOUT OUT....she was warm, gracious and full of information and we enjoyed talking with her. Our room, unfortunately, was not inside the Inn, but was an outer room that we had to go outside to get into the main house for breakfast. Just not quite as convenient. It was musty smelling.

The room was spacious and grande in a 19th century way. Check in was quick and painless. I was a bit put out that they ran out of coffee in the morning and that check in is not until 4pm…
