Number 8 The Townhouse

Good location to walk to sites. Lots of narrow stairs to get to the rooms so be prepared for that. Breakfast is downstairs. Quite cramped quarters. Room was ok.

The room has a great view of the city wall and is within easy walking distance from the bus station. The room is comfortable, small but not crowded. It would be nice to have a small refrigerator and an iron/iron board or at least access to one. The host isn’t around and access to shared space is limited to breakfast hours.

Nice period accomodation right by Derry city walls. Decent breakfast provided also. Plenty of eating and entertainment options close by, no parking on site but plenty of cheap overnight options near by. Would recommend for a short stay in Derry.

Good place to stay within the city walls. There is limited street parking but we were recommended Bishop Street car park a 5 minute walk away - £7 for 24 hours ( you need to re-ticket each day). The rooms were furnished in a period style but were comfortable and the breakfast was ample - cereals/fruit/ toast/yogurt. There is no reception but we were provided with a code for the door for our arrival.

The place was built in the 1700s so understand that the rooms are NOT sound proof. We could hear luggage being drug over the cobblestone out front. Check out their website for parking options, there are some out front but not a lot and parking hours are 8am-630pm overnight free (we got extremely lucky). The rooms were beautiful, the host was amazing and you couldn’t ask for a better breakfast. We only stayed for a short stay so it worked nicely for us.

We loved how the townhouse is right next to the Derry wall. So easy to walk anywhere in town from there. Kieran we very helpful and responded quickly to our questions. Unfortunate that the main floor lounge is no longer available to customers because of insurance issues.

My only complaint would be the stairs as we were on the top floor and packing up suitcases not so much fun Lot of derelict buildings in our vicinity but that is not the hotels issue Overall was enjoyable and got in some stair master exercises

Clean, well appointed accommodation convenient for town, walking. Kieran, the host was friendly and entertaining.

The location is good for moving around Derry. Our room -5 was fine- just little things- drinking glasses were sitting in a container that wasn’t very clean- the tv remote was filthy- food stuck to it. Overall the room was tired. Good communication around check in. Sitting area downstairs was full of what appeared to be dirty laundry.

This place is wonderful if you just need a cheap place to stay. It is right inside the wall and everything is easily accessible. Very clean room and great breakfast

Wir waren für zwei Nächte zu Gast und hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt. Das Hotel ist bequem mit den Öffis zu erreichen. Vom Bahnhof aus fährt ein kostenfreier Linienbus in die Innenstadt und dann sind es nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß. Wir hatten uns im Voraus über Expedia gemeldet, weil wir Fragen zum Check In hatten und haben umgehend eine Antwort von Kieran, dem Inhaber, erhalten. Am Morgen der Anreise kam zusätzlich noch einmal eine SMS mit dem Tür-Code und Informationen zum WiFi und den Frühstückszeiten. Das Haus selbst ist sehr alt, aber fantastisch gepflegt und super charmant. Zu den Zimmern kommt man über ein relativ enges Treppenhaus, was für uns überhaupt kein Problem war, aber wenn man körperliche Beeinträchtigungen hat, könnte das eine Herausforderung sein. Unser Zimmer war nicht riesig, hatte aber ausreichend Platz um zwei große Koffer zeitgleich öffnen zu können (das hatten wir in Irland auch schon ganz anders erlebt). Das Badezimmer war sehr geräumig und mit einer Badewanne ausgestattet, die eine Glaswand hatte, so dass wir bequem duschen konnten. Das Frühstück ist klein gehalten, was bei fünf Gästezimmern natürlich verständlich ist, aber es gibt neben Kaffee und Tee auch Saft, Müsli, Yoghurt, Brot und diverse Sorten Marmelade und Nutella. Kieran ist ein Gastgeber mit Leidenschaft, unglaublich freundlich, gesprächig aber nicht aufdringlich. Er sorgt auf jeden Fall für einen guten Start in den Tag. Unter'm Strich: Absolute Empfehlung für einen Aufenthalt in Derry!

Bon séjour dans l ensemble. Il est dommage qu'il y ait pas d'accueil à l'arrivée, les clés sont à disposition sur un tableau. La rencontre avec le propriétaire se fait le lendemain matin au petit déjeuner. Chambre très confortable et propre. Petit déjeuner continental. Excellente localisation dans la ville intra muros. Attention beaucoup d'escaliers chambres sur trois étages,ne convient pas aux personnes ayant des difficultés à monter les marches

A really clean apartment in the city centre - would highly recommend staying here to anyone. Kieran is a friendly, personable host with an extraordinary knowledge of the local area and his continental breakfasts are a perfect start to the day!

This was the best of all stays! Fun and funky lodging - top floor clean and spacious, overlooking Derry, inside city wall. Breakfast room gave a jazzy start to the day - and Kieran offered the best of early morning genuine Irish hospitality!

This is a lovely place to stay in the heart of Derry. Entrance into the walls is right out front. Beds are comfy and the room is adorable. My son snagged a photo of his bed when we got to our room. Super quiet. We were at the top of the townhouse which is a bit of a walk, but you need it after eating all the yummy food in Derry.

Our stay was amazing! The location is wonderful, in the heart of the city and right beside the wall. The host is genuinely great and he made our stay very comfortable, always having an amazing breakfast in the mornings. Thank you for making our trip here as beautiful as it was!

We enjoyed our time in Derry very much. Kieran was lovely to chat with and made us feel right at home while we had breakfast in the morning. He recommended we visit Greenan Fort on our way out of town and the views did not disappoint! Beautiful place! We were able to secure overnight parking on the street and checking-in with the code was easy. Thanks again!

Loved my stay here. Will definitely be staying again if I'm in town. Staff were extremely kind and the breakfast was perfect. Great coffee! The shower had great pressure and the towels and blankets were very soft. The beds! So cozy! Perfect place to stay if you're wanting a place right in the center of the city. Highly recommend!!!

Great wee hotel, excellent location facing the city walls easy to get to most points of interest. room was fine was in the small solo room but it was fine. Made to feel very welcome by Kieran. Definitely would stay again

A very convenient place to stay. Looks out onto the city walls and is easy walking to everywhere. If you are travelling by car use the Foyle River car park, it is £4.50 for 24 hours and much safer and cheaper than the multi-storey or shopping centre car parks and easy walking distance from the apartments. Kieran also went out of his way to help us with our luggage which was much appreciated.
