Surf Club Oceanfront Hotel

Small but perfect room, all the conveniences we needed for a three day stay (in early October). Beach front view was terrific, the place was quiet, with very few people on the beach at this time. We enjoyed hearing the ocean all night with no other noise. The Surf Club does not have an elevator, but they do have a dumb waiter that can be used to get heavy luggage up the 2-4 flights of stairs to the rooms. Staff were excellent! And this place is only a short, easy drive to Rehobeth when we wanted more shopping or people activities.

The hotel was very clean. The staff constantly was out working . Really was super close to the ocean. They had a nice pool. The parking is a bit of pain especially the 4th of July. It did get better after the 4th. The no elevator is not fun but they do a dumb waiter for luggage.

Staff was very nice. They allowed my daughters and I to park there before we could get our rooms and allowed us to park there a few hours after check out. The rooms were clean. The pool was very nice. They had vending machines. And it was right on the beach. The only negative was there was no elevator and the dumb waiter did not work but other than that…it was a great stay!!!!!

Very nice Hotel. Loved the Oceanfront efficiency. Clean room and facility, including pool and front office. Satisfsctory parking. While not a disqualifier for future stays, the lack.of an elevator was challenging and will require a first floor Oceanfront room for our next stay.

Very helpful front desk, clean and tidy accommodations. The full size fridge and electric range were also very nice to have. Bed was ok in terms of comfortable. The pull-out couch bed was not comfortable at all. Room service was good. Water pressure in the shower wasnt great but the temperatures control was. The swimming pool was very clean and kept up with daily. The vicinity to the beach was perfect. The only downside was really the fact that all the close restaurants were very sub-par and expensive for what they offered.

Beachfront hotel with a safe and clean swimming area and snack area. Laundry facilities on site, vending machines and restrooms by the pool. Very family friendly. Rooms are spacious and clean. Kitchen area with large fridge, microwave, cook top, toaster and basic kitchen ware. Staff are very kind and accommodating- always close by to help. Will definitely stay again!

The property is older but extremely well kept. Best of all it's directly on the beach. Downside, rooms do not have individual balconies. This would have been preferred, especially in the oceanfront room we had. Facility does not have sufficient parking spaces for each room to have one auto per room however they did supply a city parking pass for use while a guest and this could be used anywhere in town so it came in handy when driving around town. Rooms have a small stove and a full sized refrigerator with dinnerware, cutlery and cooking utensils. Housekeeping will only service rooms if requested by 11am. Used towels can be left outside the room daily by 11am and fresh ones will be left in a bag. I would go back in the future.

The Surf Club does not have elevators! The first floor is equal to a second floor. It is not handicap accessible. There is a dumb waiter to take your luggage to the floor but you must walk up to the floor. The kitchen is nice. Refrigerator, microwave, 2 burner stove, dishes, silverware, and utensils. Just wish it had a balcony. Short walk to the beach and a nice pool on the premises. Parking is tight.

This property is very convenient to the beach and staff is kind and attentive. The room is spacious with a very decent kitchenette. This is an older property with narrow balconies and exterior steps and challenging parking. Future guests should be aware that there are three levels over a ground level parking garage and no elevator, though a dumb waiter is extremely useful to get luggage and other heavy items up to and down from guest rooms. The room itself is quite large but the bathroom is tiny. All furniture is comfortable but well worn.

I’d give this room a 10 and the bathroom a 2. The room is huge with a great view, comfortable bed, full kitchen, plenty of space for our family of three. The bathroom was clean, but tiny with no storage for all the stuff that goes on a bathroom vanity. The biggest problem, and the easiest to fix, was the towels. These were the most threadbare towels with loose threads and actual holes in them, you would turn them into rags at your own house. Surely buying new towels would not be much of an expense and would vastly improve the guest experience. The shower was clean but small, cheaply made and not enough water pressure to get sand out of my thick hair. This is not the hotel’s fault but it had not occurred to me there wouldn’t be an elevator, or to ask for a room on a low floor because of no elevator and three flights of steep steps. So be aware of steps are not your friend. The parking situation was a little confusing but we could always find a spot in the overflow parking a short way up the street.

Room could have been cleaner. Noticed the bedside table, lamp and phone looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a while-dusty/dirty. And while the room was a nice size, the bathroom was rather pitiful. SO small it hardly is adequate for even one person. Having to go to the front desk for everything you needed every day was a bit irritating-coffee, towels, pool towels. There must be a better way to do this.

We liked the location of the property to the beach and places to dine, the size of the room and the pool. We did not like that 1/3 of our “ocean view” was a window with so much moisture in it, you couldn’t see through it (happened to be the center window). Cleanliness was just okay because of cobwebs in the ceiling light fixtures, small flies and an overall stickiness to the furniture.

Property and room were very clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The view from the room was beautiful. The pool was clean and refreshing. Beach and pool towels provided. Washer and dryer available. Will be back!

Older property- our room smelled musty, the floor felt sandy, the toilet seat was worn bare and the bed smelled like a child pee’d on the mattress. The extra blankets in the closet for use on the pull out bed had many long hairs on them- clearly hadn’t been laundered.

The room was dirty, sticky table floors. Rotton floors and walls in our room 203. Mildew smell. Not the best. Pool area clean. Wouldn't stay there again.

Building itself looks like rundown, Air conditioning unit leaked all night, bathroom door is impossible to close. Staff was nice though. Overpriced. Overall disappointed. Not enough parking at the building, the night I stayed was pouring down. Hard to find parking near by.

Spacious room, Deluxe Ocean View. Be aware that, while the windows are hugh, they do accumulate salt spray, and therefore, don't offer a clear view of the water. It's more like a salt haze. But there is one small window that opens, and it's lovely to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the surf. Loved the window seat for lounging, and the kitchen is adequate. The bathroom, at least in our unit, could use some updating, but it was clean and again, while not huge, was adequate. Pool area is very nice, and the luggage dumb waiter is a nice touch, as there is no elevator. The best thing is the walkability to the main drag, as there is minimal public parking there.

Great location. Room definitely needs updating, though its obvious some improvements have been done (shower, air conditioner, bedding). Bed was comfortable. Floor was very dirty, had to keep shoes on at all times. Great refrigerator, kept our beverages very cold! Overall, we think we will find somewhere else to stay on our next visit to Dewey Beach.

Great room—huge, with nearly a full kitchen and a sitting area. Great view of the ocean. The only thing it is missing is a balcony.

Easy walk to the beach , liked the kitchen . No water pressure for the shower. Parking is very limited. No balconies .

Pros: Oceanfront view was spectacular. Cons: No balcony?! Major miss there. The large picture windows didn’t open. One tiny side window opened. Insufficient. The floors began sloping drastically the closer you got to the windows (and the view). As if the slope wasn’t bad enough, the floors also had multiple soft spots throughout the room, including one in the bathroom shower. The floor literally creaked whenever I used it. Due to those issues I was not really able to enjoy the view (albeit closed) from the room because the area by the windows felt very unsafe to walk on. Pros: Relatively nice furniture and decor. A few pieces need to be upgraded but overall the design of the room is light and airy. Good water pressure in the shower. Bed was relatively comfortable. The room had been cleaned relatively well. Cons: Walls by the window are buckling. AC unit is over a very nice bench/reading nook. Unfortunately the AC unit leaks directly onto the bench/cushions. Bathroom toilet seat had been scrubbed so many times the paint had worn off. The toilet itself also emitted a weird chemical smell. Shower head could not be adjusted. The telephone in the room was missing so many buttons you could see the motherboard. The view and proximity to the beach are probably why I paid as much as I did. However I highly expect the room to be in solid condition if I’m paying almost $400 a night. I enjoyed my visit to the beach, but I will not be returning to this hotel in the future.

I loved the tradition beach hotel feel with upgrades of the finishes in the room. We stayed in an Ocean front room and the laminate flooring, comfy bed, and eating area were wonderful. The view was breathtaking. The convenience of the kitchenette was awesome and we'll appointed. We will definitely be back.

Room was great clean. The room was spacious liked the apartment sized refrigerator and the kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and we had a great view of the ocean from our room.

Great stay, cozy, quiet and peaceful. Front desk reception, she was very nice and helpful.

We were late to check in but manager left out key in locker and mailed us the code to open it. We were able to get in to the room even if it was too late. Didn't expect that kind of service. So check in possible any time, just be sure to check the email inbox.

The sparse parking and stairs (no elevator, room on 3rd floor) were the only thing I did not love about this hotel. They do have a dumbwaiter that you can use, but I couldn't get it to work. (Likely user error, lol) Regardless, the rooms were spacious, clean and beautiful. The front desk staff was so helpful and knowledgeable about what to do or see in the area. Overall our stay was great!

Surf Club Oceanfront Hotel had great customer service, particularly from Doc at the front desk; the rooms were clean and we had a stunning view of the beach. The outside is a little dated and the parking underneath the hotel is tight, but they have access to an overflow lot across the street, and the inside of the hotels are fully renovated and clean. If possible, I highly recommend a room with an ocean view. The windows are floor to ceiling, and waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean make for an amazing start to the day.

Staff were very friendly, rooms were clean. You can tell the owners and staff take great pride in what they do. Will stay there again and recommend to anyone. We had a direct oceanfront room.

We come here every year in February when it’s quiet and the rate is low. The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating and gave us two choices for a room under our reservation. We chose the room with two windows. We also used a DVD player which did not work so someone came quickly to check and found it was broken and replaced it with a good one.

Hotel was great. We normally stay closer to Rehoboth boardwalk but this place was great. It’s a little quieter with great access to restaurants and the beach. The man at the desk was super friendly and accommodating. The beach is right beside the hotel door and they often have movie and bonfire nights. The Rehoboth boardwalk is only a 5 min. Drive away. Great location and great staff. Very big rooms and very clean.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. Everything was closed and convenient. The price was excellent for an oceanfront room. Note, there is no balcony but there is a small sliding window so you could hear the ocean at night while you’re sleeping if you want. Unless you call for maid service, you don’t get any. However if you leave dirty towels outside your door, they will put clean ones out there in a plastic bag. We ran low on toilet paper and had to go down to the office to get some. A lot of places are like this since Covid. All employees were very friendly and helpful though. The pool is nice, on the small side, but there weren’t many people in it when we were there. It was cool and refreshing. I would definitely return.

The room and bedding were clean. The hotel was quiet, staff was pleasant. Our oceanfront room had an amazing view. Head’s up that there is no elevator and if your room is on the 3rd floor like ours was, you will be doing many, many steps during your trip. If you can’t do steps, ask for a room on a lower floor.

Beach access, walkable to dining, comfortable

Surf Club is in a nice location with great views of the beach. We could walk to many restaurants. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay.

We loved this condo. It was beachfront, right next to the jolly trolley stop, lots of great little restaurants, and had a great pool. Perfect for a long weekend anniversary getaway!

Great location right on the ocean. Can walk everywhere in Dewey. Parked car and didn't get back into it until we were leaving. Upkeep is exemplary. Great staff too :)

We usually stay in Bed and Breakfast or National chain hotels. We just wanted a 1 night stay with beach facing room. The room didnt have a balcony, which my husband likes but because there was no balcony there were floor to ceiling plate glass windows with a gorgeous view not obstructed by balcony railing! There was a small window on one side to open for the waves to be heard. It was soooo clean, sooo, bright and spacious. It is an older hotel but redone recently and very nicely. Top notch, update, small kitchen, couch, dining table by the large windows, beautifully done bathroom. If I was the owner, I would be very proud if being independently owned and well kept. The staff were genuinely friendly, happy, kind, personable and helpful.

The view from the room was fantastic overlooking the beach. Room was clean and spacious. Quiet building Places to eat in walking distance. Close to Rahoboth for shopping , dining and entertainment. Definitely will come back.

Nice stay. Room had a nice little kitchen area with a decent size fridge. And little dining room area. Pool was very clean. Direct access to the beach. And lots of restaurants within walking distance. All of the staff was nice. Would definitely book again.

We LOVED our stay here! The staff was so kind, the location was unbeatable, and the room was so nice. We stayed in a king suite with a pull out couch — we really wanted this room for the partial ocean view and the kitchenette (was a lifesaver to make food to save money at times). We stayed for four days and it was perfect. Parking is accessible, a bit tight, but not an issue. There’s a dumb waiter to send your luggage upstairs. We could hear the ocean from our room every night and it was the perfect way to fall asleep. We borrowed DVDs from the office to watch at night which were so fun to pick out. We can’t wait to come back!!!

An incredible location with superb views of the ocean. The pool area, whilst small, is well maintained. The rooms are a good size with fridge/ freezer and both microwave and a hob for cooking. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. The staff are super friendly and helpful. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here.

I liked the access to the b arch and shops and cafes. Food is poor.

The staff was very nice, from check in staff, maintenance staff and housekeeping staff. The area where the hotel is located was very clean and well maintained. The room was spacious and surface areas were clean. The room was stocked with extra pillows, towels, blankets, tissues and to. There were glasses and plates as well as utensils and small appliances available for use making this an ideal place for a few days stay. The only negatives were that while there is onsite parking, some of the parking is very tight and not very easily accessible as we had to put our vehicle in 4 wheel drive to get up and awkward turn. The other issue was the cleanliness of the floor- I walked barefoot for maybe 5 minutes while getting ready for the beach and my feet were very dirty. Overall we would definitely stay here again, as it’s clean, good location and friendly staff.

From the check in to check out the stay was great. Room was very clean. A plus was the cooktop stove full refrigerator, microwave. Sitting area table and chairs very comfortable will return.
