When I went to check in, I noticed how run down the property was. In fact several cabins looked to be uninhabitable. When the owner came out he told me he only had one cabin and that was rented and that Expedia had booked him people before when he was not renting. This property is OFF THE MARKET FOR RENTING, and I had to quickly find another place 20 miles away for 4+ times the price.

This felt like going back in time. I realized the day of the trip that I had not gotten any message about check in. I tried to contact the property to let them know when we would arrive and confirm that was OK, but did not hear anything back. However, we arrived a little after 10 getting off the evening ferry, and a gentleman was there to check us in. He said they had been without internet and phone service in the office for a while, so he had no way to receive messages or respond. They did not have internet for guests, either. There was no air conditioning. He warned us it might be hot, but we opened the windows (mostly without screens) and turned on the fans, and it cooled off. The fridge did not really work (we were in unit 3), so I worried about the food the next morning. Everything in the unit was old, and maybe a but musty, but seemed clean in general. We had mostly been camping the previous 10 days, so it was definitely a step up from that. The price and location were great. As long as you know what to expect, you'll be OK.

Only in town for 1 evening. There are six units but only 1 was working and I felt lucky to be able to snag a place to put my head for a quiet rest. Using the online booking system was easy but I like to phone the establishment and follow up to ensure they actually received my confirmation. They have zero online email or phone number presence to communicate with them prior to arriving. I arrived late and William was thankfully up and waiting for me with Fred, the cat, regally supervising the entrance. Opened the door to my unit, unloaded my stuff and hit the hay. It was very nice and peaceful having slept for 9 hours of uninterrupted rejuvenation time. Woke up refreshed. The place is very clean and the kitchen supplied with utensils, paper towels [yeah!!], towels, fridge was cold and freezer had 2 ice containers that I forgot to refill for the next guest, oops!! Have gained some weight since C19 and found the toilet to be very small for my jumbo size making it uncomfortably difficult to toilet myself. Didn't shower but it was clean and also very tiny but seemed manageable. Awoke, made some fresh coffee [grounds provided & popcorn for those inclined] and ate leftovers from previous nights meal from the local 123thai place and some delicious breakfast item from the Chimicum farmstand market. Everything was clean, hope I can snag another couple of nights here over the coming months and that they get a phone or email so I can confirm prior to arriving. Thanks

The stay was amazing. For the price you simply can’t beat it. The hosts were very kind and easy to get a hold of. The kitchen and bathroom were clean and there was plenty of space for dining, playing card games, and for lounging. The deck was covered and very cozy. The bed sheets are a bit outdated, the road is a little loud nearby and the toilet was really close to the wall but otherwise it was a very clean and comfortable environment and we would definitely stay here again if we are in town.
