The Swope Manor Bed & Breakfast

So much charm, the staff was wonderful .Lots of special details even hot out of oven cookies! Room was cozy and very clean! Will definitely be back!

Hosts were terrific. Building is historic and convenient to everything. Food was great and they had free beer and wine! What's not to love. We hope to go back when it's decorated for Christmas

The staff went above and beyond to help make our stay and our tour of the area memorable! The room was large, clean, and had everything we needed. The only downside (unavoidable due to location) is having to navigate the parking garage and finding your way to the property from there (was particularly difficult for us due to our later in the evening arrival). Would not prevent me from recommending though!

Beautifully appointed in 1863 style. Terrific library. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Staff here very friendly. Breakfast was tasty, plated and sufficient. Coffee and tea available 24/7. Ample and well appointed common areas (library, receiving room and living room). Parking is i public parking garage next door. 12/day.

The home was beautifully restored and immaculately clean. The beds were comfy and the showers worked well. One could walk everywhere, as it’s in the center of town. Very friendly staff, too. They even offered a glass of wine at check-in, which was very appreciated after a long day of travel. I highly recommend this place.

The Swope Manor has a beautiful outdoor patio and garden area. It is very convenient to the uptown stores and restaurants.

We were on top floor, and were denied a move though vacant rooms were available. No assistance available for luggage. In town for a wedding and needed an iron, promised but it did not get delivered and attendant could not be found on property and did not answer or return call. Parking was a block away. Minimal space for checkin-checkout vehicle loading and unloading. Rooms were nice, clean, wine and drinks available, breakfast was delightful. Great location in center of town. Soft music at mealtime would be nice. Historical speaker at breakfast added value. Very nice and maintain property. Overall 4/5

Nice Historical House! Common areas were nice! Breakfast was well thought out and tasted good! The dining setting was great too! Coffee and tea available anytime! Very good experience!

Larger rooms than any other B&B we have stayed at. Modern amenities while keeping the historic feel. Parking garage within 200 yards. Right on main street so close to shopping and dining.

Everything was very good except it would have been helpful to have directions for the tv. The parking was an unexpected charge. Room was lovely and very clean. Enjoyed the sherry and chocolates.

The building itself is old and has a lot of beautiful furniture. Our rooom was clean and inn keeper was friendly when we checked in. The overall experience was disappointing. Our room was in the front of the building and there was traffic noise all night long. The shutters on the windows were old and warped. They were hard to close and did not totally block the light from outside. There were no curtains. There was no closet in the room and only 4 hooks on a wall for use.. Old extension cords held multiple items plugged in and I wondered if they were a fire hazard. There were no side tables next to the chair or love seat in the room, nowhere to put down a drink, etc. Plugging in cell phones,etc. to charge was challenging. A designated charging station would have been appreciated. The televison did not work correctly and there were no instruction on what to push on the remote to get a display. The bathroom was very pretty. The shower head was very nice and we enjoyed the bodyjets. The room was advertised as having a steam shower, it was not working at the time of our stay. The innkeeper never mentioned it. The towels reeked of fabric softener. When they say breakfast is served at 8:30, believe them. I anticpated a longer window of time with breakfast items available. Other B & B’s we have stayed at serve breakfast for at least 1 1/2-2 hour. Be there at 8:30! Along with a small muffin there was a small bowl of fruit. There are no additional continental

We enjoyed our stay in the Miss Dorothy room. It was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious and just the right amount. The staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

When I told the manager the next day he said they were aware it needed to be fixed but had not had time to do it. When we came back to the room later that day the clean up was poor and there were pieces of metal on the floor. The next day we did not receive any room cleaning service at all. It was never disclosed before hand that parking was a good distance from the B and B and that it was $12 a day. I asked for an adjustment in the price of the room and received a $150 credit for a room that cost $259 a night. Also the room was on the street side and there was noisy traffic all night.

The Swope is a lovely bed and breakfast in the heart of Gettysburg within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated; the hosts and staff are welcoming; breakfast was delicious. It is a charming and comfortable place to stay.

Nice place , very good breakfast but could not control the heat or ac in room. Pricey

Our stay at The Swope Manor was magnificent! What’s a COMFORTABLE BED! Have not been that rested, comfortable and slept as late in years! Breakfast was delectable, with fresh fruit, French toast and sausages that left us ready to tackle the day. The property is beautifully maintained, with each room lovingly appointed, and again…THE BED (chefs kiss). We have an EV, so driving down from NY we were a bit concerned with keeping her battery full, but there was a charging station in the public parking garage right behind the property. The very convenient location of the manor made it possible for us to walk to the shops, restaurants and bars; necessitating driving only when touring the battlefields. The proprietors have thought of everything to make guests feel welcome and we would be thrilled to stay there again and again!

I don’t have enough words to describe just how beautiful this gorgeous bed and breakfast manor really is! Our room was elegantly decorated with antiques throughout and yet it was inviting and comfortable! The bathroom had a large jacuzzi tub as well as a shower! There weren’t many other guests so we checked out the other rooms and all were just as amazing! The breakfasts were just brilliant! We felt completely pampered! I look forward to a return visit!

We enjoyed our short stay. Lovely home, excellent breakfast, great location. One issue: the 2 rooms on the first floor are next to the door that all guests are asked to use to come and go. That was very noisy. I would consider staying again but not on the first floor.

The accommodations were beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We have a 10 month old who is just starting to eat solids, so they were kind enough to cut up fruit into very small bites for him, we didn’t even ask them to do that, the staff is just that kind and helpful. Absolutely amazing staff and services, we will definitely be back :)

Also wanted to mention that my gf informed them on our first moning that she didnt ear pork and best believe they had turkey products there the next morning. We're ready making plans to come back. The breakfasts were amazing and our fellow guests were fun to chat with. We had a great experience and would highly recommend this place for your stay in Gettysburg.

Joanne was kind and welcoming as was her husband. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. I don’t eat pork or beef. The inkeeper, Bruce, was reluctant to accommodate my dietary requirements. Ultimately he did but not without an attitude. Also,

Very quaint and special. Our only issue has nothing to do with the property but the town allowing 18 wheelers to go right through the middle of the square. Not only is it a nuisance while walking the town, but noise all night long.

This was our first bed & breakfast stay. It was wonderful. The team was friendly and accommodating. We met interesting folks. Breakfast was incredible. Chef Bruce made me gluten-free morning delights without me asking! We will no longer stay at hotels. We are looking forward to our next visit to Gettysburg. The Swope is our pick.

1860's genre house with absolutely excellent location to Gettysburg shopping and tourist districts. Had breakfasts meals for 3 days and each meal was different, and very good. I highly recommend, and we will stay here on our next Gettysburg adventure
