The Albion Hotel

Room was clean and comfortable, amenities accessible and clean. My only issue is that I have mobility issues, and climbing several flights of stairs was very daunting. Perhaps some mention of this on the website might be helpful for similarly challenged people.

Great location. No fridge in room; no access to accommodation area after 10pm; no shelves in wardrobe area

Bit of noise from the bar music but by 10pm it had been turned down a bit and then disappeared completely so no complaints on that score. Owner very helpful and friendly. Room amenities just a bed, one side table and lamp ( two would be better for a double bed) and some shelves. Plus aircon of course. It would be nice to have say a couple of glasses and some water I feel. But absolutely clean and value for money.

I was attending a function at Souths Leagues Club in Merewether, the distance is walkable, but don't believe Google, plan your own path. It is around 2.75km. It takes around 45 minutes. The property is well maintained and good quality. Parking is fine. The rooms are modern and quite good, but no facilities like a sink, fridge, kettle, tea bags, coffee etc. The amenities are shared ie. toilets and showers. There is a supermarket within 1/2 blocks to buy a sandwich etc. and a few cafes/restaurants close by, including dining options at the Albion.

Stayed here for two nights and had a good experience. It's exactly what you'd expect for the price range. Clean enough. I think the bad reviews come from people not knowing what they're in for when staying above a pub. I recommend reading all the reviews to know exactly what you're in for, then there aren't any surprises (slight tobacco smell, noise from pub, loud old doors, shared bathrooms etc).

Das Zimmer war etwas hellhörig, wodurch Geräusche aus den Nachbarzimmern sowie Musik aus dem Erdgeschoss wahrnehmbar waren. Da das Zimmer zur Hauptstraße ausgerichtet ist, war der Verkehr trotz geschlossener Fenster deutlich zu hören. Das Gemeinschaftsbad der Damen war in einem guten Zustand. Das Gemeinschaftsbad der Herren wies einen muffigen Geruch auf, hier wäre eine Verbesserung der Belüftung wünschenswert. Kostenfreie Parkplätze und kostenfreies WLAN sind erfreuliche Annehmlichkeiten. Die neu gestaltete Promenade des alten Hafenbereichs lädt zu einem etwa 30-minütigen Spaziergang zum Leuchtturm und ins Stadtzentrum ein. Eine direkte Tramverbindung ist fußläufig erreichbar.

The king room was small, no coffee/tea making facilities, shared bathrooms. The hotel only makes one room key available which means a couple cannot go to their bathrooms at the same time given bathrooms are key entry. The room was nicely refurbished as was the accomodation floor,. Music from the pub downstairs was loud. There is no lift, stairs only. We wouldn’t stay there again, it wasn’t for us, we made a mistake.

Comfortable, clean, spacious and tastefully furnished rooms with clean high standard bathrooms. Overall, very well managed. And a great location only a short walk from the Newcastle Interchange station.

This is not a hotel, it is a hostel. The shared washrooms are not clean, the shower stalls are covered in mould above and below. We actually left the hotel because we felt so uncomfortable. The "front desk" is serving staff (not their fault), and it was on a busy Triva night so we were not able to speak to someone. We just wanted to get out. When I contacted TD about the issues they tried to contact the Hotel and they didn't answer it took multiple days to get an answer and the hotel did nothing, no refund. The room was very loud and we could hear multiple strange noises from our AC unit.

The shared bathroom facilities were totally inadequate. The toilet seat was broken and there was only one toilet. The doors are very noisy and hard to open and shut. Luckily the bed was comfortable. The staff were lovely but I would not recommend the Albion for a stay to anyone.

Room towards the street was noisy during the night. Light spilled in through the curtains from the neon sign outside. We had to ask for towels and duvets to the room. Few shared toilets and showers in not great condition.

All new bath rooms and bed rooms, very clean and safe. Thanks team @ the Albion. Also the bottled water in the room was a nice touch.

The men's shared bathroom toilet, of the 2 toilet cubicles both had broken toilet seats.

No tea and coffee and jug.

Nick, Drew and the nightshift bar staff and security were incredibly friendly. Nice to have pokies there. The beds were comfortable and clean. Nice wide screen television in room. You get two towels. No hangars. Big divets in wood floor that was carpeted over. Felt like my foot would go through at times. Could hear bar speakers through floor but was advised beforehand on check in when signing agreement sheet. It was good music. Could hear car noise, but I had earplugs. Some locks on loos and showers were broken but a wood door stop was provided. Soap dispensers in showers and sink area. Toilet brushes in loos were broken. Showers could be cleaner. I''m not used to the pub hotel style accomodations w/ a shared shower and toilet facility, so I don't know what to expect. It was worth the great value.Three other groups of people I met in town were staying there as well as someone from the train I came in on. So convenient to transpo and city. I'd give it another go. Just minor fixes needed and I'm sure they will be working on them. I'm confident in that.

Great location. Walkable into the city centre and Honeysuckle restaurant area. Property is tired. No lock on the window. Noticeable hole 30cm x 20cm under carpet just inside the entry to the room.

I didnt like the light flashing From outside and into The bedroom, it Is annoying and I could not sleep because of the colourful light.

Standard pub room with some recent renovations. Comfortable king bed. Quiet and private room.

clean, renovated rooms and bathrooms. slow check-in, as you need to pass through the pub, the girl said it was not her job so it took some time...but she was very nice and offered us a coke. good offer for its price.

Outright disgraceful being harassed by workers an a very unpleasant stay you have a homeless couple and expect me to cop it i want refunded today

Wasn't a good experience poor and disappointed quality of service

We payed for two queen rooms for three days. It cost us $2500 we were given one queen room and on very tiny double room and the bed in the double room was at shin height broken with a big bow in the entire bed. We spoke to the man who checked us in and he was quite dismissive of us and said its not his problem he dose not own the place. My partner asked if he could please come up stairs and see for himself what we were given. He did so under sufferance. When he got to the room he saw that the bed indeed was broken and not a Queen room at all. So instead of giving us a new room he told us he would move the bed from another room into our room. Honestly this made no sense to us as we were still in a room that was a double and not the queen room we had paid for. Anyway He assured us this would be done by the time we got back. Needless to say this never happened at all. We arrived back to our room ant nothing had changed. We had to sleep on the broken bed which was sunken. In the morning we were chatting to others there who were staying and they stated they always stay there yearly but wont be back either as the place was so dirty and run down. We contacted the hotel Saturday and they assured us they were looking into it and they would get back to us on Monday as we left two days early and found other accomodation. It's Tuesday afternoon and we have not heard a peep from anyone. Absolutely appalling treatment!!!!!!!

Our stay at the hotel was okay, but the shared toilet facility was a letdown. However, the location was perfect and it's a great value for budget travelers.

Had an awful experience during my stay. Its the false advertisement that they have on the website. It says continental breakfast but when I went to the reception to know about it, they told me to help myself with whatever’s in the kitchen. They had a bread in the fridge and few cereals and when I tried to use the microwave, it didn’t work. I informed them about it but no one helped. There was not even a bottle of water to drink. Didn’t expect a $269 room booked for just one night to be like this. Really disappointed. Would not recommend the place to anyone. Couldn’t sleep the whole night due to the loud music downstairs. Very bad experience.

Great staff, the rooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was closed for the Easter weekend, but walking distance to every restaurant in town so was not an issue. Awesome place. Highly recommend staying

So good to be close to the Interchange. Dinner service veery good. Maybe I should have asked, but there didn't seem to be any breakfast??? Just toast and a cuppa would be good.
