Great pub accommodation. Rooms are quiet and clean. Staff are always wonderful. The pub is safe and great standard of patrons. Bonus for the atrium restaurant. Wonderful.

Hotel has a fabulous vibe! Rooms are well equipped and very comfortable . Take the lift down to a great bar and restaurant! Awesome cocktails. Not our first stay and won’t be the last!

Beautifully maintained old pub with modern, clean, comfortable rooms. Has a lift, bonus, and some rooms have a view of the inner courtyard restaurant which is lovely and whimsical. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff good food and clean tidy rooms. Parking a bit of a problen due to no onsite parking.

Had a great overnight stay with two toddlers, in town for a knights game. It was a fair way from the stadium but very close to awesome coffee & breakfast spots. Able to nab some free parking out the front, especially great with the torrential downpour when we arrived! The lift was a godsend, & the double glazing in the room kept any venue noises to a minimum. Our room had a sofa bed that we had to get fresh bedding for, it hadn’t been changed since the last user. We had to request an extra two towels for the babes as well, but the staff were very quick to rectify & even offered to make the bed for us.

Great place to stay, excellent bar & food. Staff were wonderful & room quiet & comfortable. The only problem was I couldn’t work out the air conditioning which would go off during the night (probably some economy setting that was too techno for my brain! ). All in all a great stay.

the room itself was clean and nice, the internal area outside the window was pretty grim and needs a good power wash or something.

Stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The room was very clean and newly renovated. Very friendly staff, great location! One thing to note.. the room I was staying in was facing the main road so there were traffic/tram noises throughout the day and night.. however the noise isn’t as loud once the balcony door is shut.

we are return guests. check in was terrific friendly and efficient. hotel was again very pleasant to return to. downside toilet seat was broken - cleaners clearly not choosing to have it repaired. We let reception guy know when we checked out. Stains/marks on the desk chair.

Travelled with Family - Booked queen room with sofa bed - as pictures of room on website at time of booking appears larger. Room quite small for family of 4 honestly. Although hotel very clean, comfortable, colourful, great location and staff really lovely.

All clean and nice food

Shower head barley works also drain blocked in shower. Needs a bit of attention and repair. Live music on weekend nights nd does creep into room a little but not super bad. Room is nicely fitted out and comfortable not a bad stay but needs some work

We had a balcony room on the 2nd floor, which overlooked the outdoor seating area. We knew the location was an entertainment area, so expected noisy evenings. However, there was no issue with noise because the room was very well soundproofed. We could hear muffled noise from outside but nothing from the very active nightlife in the downstairs courtyard, bar and restaurants. Being able to open the door onto the big balcony, for fresh air, was a plus (the reason we opted for a balcony room). Very private. The bedroom was small. Very comfortable queen bed. No seating, rail for hanging clothing (no wardrobe). Modern, small bathroom. All of this was perfect for our 2-night stay. We liked the energy-saving keycard activation/deactivation of power to the room, the bulk shampoo/conditioner/bodywash in the showers instead of the wasteful individual supplies, the bar fridge with milk & bottled water supplied, tea (T2) and coffee sachets. Love the funky decor in the public areas - reception, lifts, internal courtyard area (that's what attracted me to the hotel). Didn't disappoint. The hotel is right opposite the Crown St light rail stop. We had no issue with any noise (we were on the side, not facing the line). We did not have a car. We liked the convenient location to transport, walk or rail to beach, plenty restaurant/cafe options. Supermarket only a block away. We didn't have much interaction with staff, but everyone we dealt with was very pleasant and helpful.

Surprisingly a wonderful renovated chic hotel room. With double glazed windows, you wouldn't know you were above a funky pub. Amazing front desk service that gave us a 10% voucher to breakfast at an Amazing cafe called Neighbours. Will definitely stay there again whenever in Newcastle!

What a cute hotel! Everything from the old school suitcases at the reception desk to the flamingos and leaves in the elevator. The room was smaller than I anticipated but the bathroom was a good size. The balcony was also extremely small. The bed, well that was the problem. The one side sagged so badly that when I sat on it, I was almost sitting on the floor. Lying on it I felt like I was going to roll off. I also felt that I was laying in a V with my head and legs where they probably should have been and my body sagging. Should I have gone done and asked someone if we could change rooms? Yes but I don’t want to be an inconvenience. Also the curtains did nothing to block out the light since they were a good inch or two from the top of the ceiling.

Location was in the centre of town so it was close to shops, food and other amenities/attractions. Hotel was clean and modern and fit our needs well. However, the lighting was quite dim in the room and the walls are thin so you can sometimes hear next door guests if they are loud.

I wasn't sure about how quiet the room would be given this is pub accommodation and from previous experience, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Although the music was incredibly loud and you could hear in the halls of the accommodation, the room was well insulated from the noise with minimal sound of music coming in. The air conditioning worked well, however, the only downside for me if not being able to access fresh air. All in all, it was great accommodation in a great location, would definitely stay here again.

Perfectly located for a weekend visit. Hotel is located in the entertainment zone so there is some weekend noise, but wasn’t that noticeable in the room. Room had all we needed, a little on the small side but the balcony was a nice little extra

Clean room, modern, great air con

i called at 10.30 am to say my plane was going to be 5 hours late from Brisbane , they forgot to advise me of any after hours check in and lucky for me the young was just locking up and leaving as i arrived,so i got to check in (5 mins later i would have been on the street )then promised my bags would to taken to my room so i went elsewhere for dinner got back to my room at 1 pm. NO BAGS in my room and no after hours contact finally got a cleaner at 6 am to gain access to the front office and get the bags..But every thing else was excellent and i would stay again.

Staff and location was excellent

The custimer services was great and friendly. Was very dissapointed with a cleaner, she knocked the door once and straight opened the door to check if there were customers in the room and were looking for her access card. She didn't even apologies and left.

Clean room. Staff were helpful and professional. Great bar with great vibes. Cute Balcony to relax with a morning coffee. Towels, toiletries and hair dryer in room. Iron and ironing board in cupboard in corridor. Close to all shops, bars, restaurants and the walk along the wharf

Great location, room is a bit small. Overall is good for 1 night stay.

Room was completely fine but the central heating unit was broken and the room was an absolute sauna. A small portable air con was in the room but it was beyond useless. When I got help to see if anything can be done, I was advised that the hotel was fully booked and unfortunately nothing could be changed. Understanding this was the case, I was told that the hotel would contact me first thing the morning after to discuss remuneration in some capacity but as you can tell from this review, I am still yet to hear anything from them. While I understood not much could be done about changing rooms given the full hotel, the lack of communication afterwards has turned me off here moving forward. Lucky no more.

Amazing, friendly staff and very accommodating. The front desk even let my daughter charge her phone there. Nice, easy check in and great location. Gorgeous bathroom products too. Highly recommend.

Excellent service, brilliant restaurant with a broad menu that accounted for different diets- super delicious food! The staff were so helpful and offered their help all the time. Large, spotless and comfortable rooms with luxe amenities. Great spot close to transport, the beach and shops. An excellent base. I was there during the early week and it wasn’t loud. I had a great, uninterrupted sleep. Thanks for the excellent service and great boutique hotel. If you love food, this is a top quality restaurant and bar!

Room was very impressive and clean. However the service at the bar during Happy Hour I was charged full price due to not being asked if I had registered, which I did. My entree and main meal was served together which was very odd again. The next morning there was no water in the shower or basin. No one at reception after 9am to validate my parking ticket which costed me $42 instead of $20. Shame because everything was great.

Fabulous place to stay in Newcastle. Clean, quirky, friendly staff, great food, fantastic location. Light rail stop is right outside the hotel, lots of restaurants nearby and Civic Theatre is a 10min walk down the road. We’ve stayed here a few times and love it.

Quiet room in a very good location.

Quirky and charming place to stay right in the heart of the action. Very comfortable, and even despite the warnings about noise, it was very quiet once I retired for the evening. Easily accessible by public transport.

Noisy Pub vibe, music stopped around 1am started again 930am. Shower is open, water streamed out all over the floor. Great location, parking is $20

The Lucky Hotel is easy to find and in an excellent location in the heart of the old Newcastle CBD. The staff are friendly and happy.

A basic but comfortable pub hotel. Rooms are modern and the hotel is conveniently located opposite the tram stop but also noisy with sound travelling into the rooms from the busy street. Downstairs restaurant is very convenient and well presented but Food was well below average.

One night stay, good value, accom comfortable and close to great pubs and restaurants. Lucky hotel (pub) has a great atmosphere and nice courtyard, food was great too! Will definitely stay again.

I loved the room with balcony which was lovely for sitting out - especially with a morning cup of tea. The bar was lovely for a drink and some food in the evening.
