Great place to spend a night before our flight home. The host met us at the door when we arrived and was up at 4:30am to see us off. My wife and I walked to several nice restaurants just 8 minutes away. Very close to the airport, very clean and great value! Had A/C and a refrigerator to keep some food cold. Safe, gated parking but definitely not a lot of room. We had a mid sized SUV which fit fine, but anything bigger would be a tight fit. Would definitely stay here again.

Very decent property. My wife and I stayed here for 1 night to catch a very early flight at SJO. The property provides a safe gated overnight parking space. The property owner is truly a nice person. She communicated with me before our stay. When we were at the airport, I thought I left my phone at the property. The owner tried realty hard to look for it at 4 AM!

Check in was smooth and Vicky is lovely. Nice that there’s gated parking. Room also very clean and with nice kitchenette. Many restaurants within walking area.

super nice staff. nice to walk around town for a day. close to airport - reason we stayed. good food nearby. safe parking but have to get gate to be opened and tight fit. in town with one way streets so really needed some form of GPS.

This hotel is fine to stay for a night on flights in and out of SJO. We arrived just after sunset and fortunately the management was still able to receive us and accommodate our parking requirements. A lovely Breakfast was provided the following AM, our 1st experience with CR Rice & Beans. We LOVED it and ordered it every place we went in CR. The hotel is gated. We didn’t feel safe in the city after dark.

Excellent spot to stay after arriving. Gated parking felt safe. They stayed up late for out late arrival, super sweet!

Great location within the city, and the secure parking was really nice. Host Vickie was very personable and helpful. Flew out very early the next morning, and it was a quick 10 minute or so drive to the rental car place.

Only stayed one night, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Excellent breakfast. Secure parking. Very close to SJO airport.

Parking is difficult at this location. It is close to the old downtown area of Alajuela, which was interesting to visit. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Great overnight stay next to an attractive old church. Convenient to the airport and walkable to nice restaurants. Room was large, comfortable and very clean. Very friendly reception and arranged our transportation to the airport for the wee morning hours.

The owner is super helpful - organized 5:30 AM transportation to the airport, had umbrellas ready when it rained, place was very clean, cable TV was a nice plus. Great place to stay near the airport, in a nice safe walkable neighborhood.

Our room was super clean , had everything we needed like towels, blankets and pillows. The staff were very kind and welcoming. They also helped us with ordering our taxi. The breakfast was delicious as well! The property is close to airport, also walking distance to local super markets, pharmacies and food. I definitely recommend staying here.

The room was very clean, comfortable, and had outdoor space overlooking a beautiful garden. The hotel is close to the church and the center of Alajuela. Easy to get around the area.

The location is near airport and the madam was very kind and sensible. But the room was small and the window is much blocked.

Biggest complaint would be the traffic noise. The room was above the street and the windows and balcony door just didn't block much sound at all. Oddly, the beds were also quite noisy when getting in/out or rolling over. Other main complaint would be limited hot water - don't expect more than a quick shower if you want it warm. On the positive side, good location in what seemed a nice neighborhood with plenty of good food options nearby and walkable. Comfortable bedding and decent towels, with handy soap dispensers. Not a fancy hotel by any means, but not a bad bargain.

We stayed here (as many people do) before an early morning flight out of San Jose. Check in was quick and friendly. They arranged our taxi pick up at a great rate to the airport for the morning which was much appreciated. The apartment was large with a nice kitchen, outdoor seating and a large bedroom and bathroom. We had a decent dinner nearby and we slept very well on the comfortable bed. Overall, a very good experience.

I really loved my room here at Bamboo, the owner Vicky is so helpful and accommodating my flight was very late. She is very nice. The room was very nice with a small bedroom, a large bathroom, a very nice little kitchen with refrigerator and tiny balcony. You can't do better in this great price range

It was very safe and comfortable and the owner was so nice we got there like 1 am because of the drive we to to do on the mountain. She very helpful. The breakfast was delicious everything was amazing just the bed a little noisy. I would stay again very nice appartments

Das Zimmer ist sauber und hat eine kleine Küche. Tee und Kaffee Utensilien sind vorhanden. Vom Balkon aus kann man auf die gegenüberliegende Kirche gucken. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und das Frühstück ist sehr lecker. Die Früchte und Gallo Pinto haben uns besonders gefallen. Insgesamt kann ich die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen. Pura Vida Jürgen

I was traveling solo and one of the most important for me was to be in a safe place I felt very safe and service was so good ! The lock door where my bedroom was suppose to be wasn’t working property and they changed me to another room. The only thing was that air conditioner wasn’t very cold but it didn’t bother me ! Overall was a great one night stay They coordinate a taxi to take me to the airport as well

The location is perfect for walking to dining options. My room was very clean with a kitchen and balcony. It got a little noisy from the street noise, but I will definitely return.

For the price an excellent well taken care of Place. Person in charge was in many text conversation because of late arrival. Only down side Perhaps for some no elevators.

The Bamboo was a great apartment hotel for a one night stay in San José. We had airline problems/last minute cancellation with American Airlines and didn't get in until late. The hotel made sure someone was there late and when we needed to go out to meet up with local friends they provided us with the garage gate opener. The breakfast was a great local home made dish.

Nice little property within a quick Uber ride to the airport. Lovely view from the balcony of the beautiful church opposite. We arrived late in the evening and had someone waiting to greet us to check in. I would gladly come back.

We stayed here the first night we arrived in costa rica. This Hotel is very close to the Airport and in close proximity you have everything you need to equip yourself for traveling the country. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfy and all the staff was very nice. We didn‘t want to stay for longer in alajuela, but for our needs this hotel was perfect.

This was a perfect stay for purposes of returning to the airport the next day. The area is very run down and felt unsafe, but inside the gates of the hotel were clean and safe. Plan on bringing noise canceling headphones to be sure you can sleep. There was lots of traffic and noise outside until 10:00 PM or so. This would not have been a problem if not having to get up at 1:30 AM for a very early flight. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. If I were basing my review on the staff alone, it would be 10/10. Great people!

We were not staying in San Jose; good airport hotel. The reception was gracious. She steered us to an enjoyable restaurant. I enjoyed a stroll in the morning to a couple of nearby parks before my flight out. Inexpensive to uber to airport.

Absolutely terrible. We booked this hotel through Expedia because we thought we were getting an apartment. We got a tiny efficiency room that had a super small kitchen that you have to walk through to get to the bathroom and doesn’t look at all. Also, we had paid for breakfast for two and even though we let them know we had an early flight and asked if they could just prepare us an easy breakfast to go like a boiled egg and a banana. They were absolutely unwilling to discuss it or make any accommodations for our 6 AM departure. 6 AM is not that early for international flights and I can’t believe they didn’t make any effort to try to accommodate us for breakfast that we had paid for. I’m so disappointed and when I commented to her that the Room doesn’t look at all like what Expedia has she said it wasn’t her fault (the photos I enclose are screenshots of what Expedia showed me the room I had booked would look like. The video show shows the actual room). I wonder who’s fault it is then who provides Expedia with those photos? I’m sure they don’t just randomly pull them from nowhere. They also make it look like in the photos. There is a garden or places to sit outside. It’s not true. It’s basically just a glorified large house in the city with a parking area and to the side of the parking area. There is a swing chair right next to where the car is parked. No taste at all and for $90 a night you would do much better to stay at the Hampton Inn, closer to the airport and less drama.
