Quality Inn San Diego South - Chula Vista

Nice! Staff was friendly, Pool was clean. It is a budget hotel, we stayed one night, but it was clean, nice, breakfast is included. Toast,bagel, eggs, sausage etc.

This motel offered a decent stay with free parking and felt safe. Staff were friendly and there was a small free breakfast. The motel and rooms were old. There is a pool available on site.

The check in was super easy! The room was nice and clean. The TV has alot of channels which was nice! Not many places have alot available on Cable. The staff was always smiling, which I appreciated. Check out was super simple! Parking was a little tight, but not to bad. I was able to park each night I was there. Over all Good experience .

Enjoyed the stay. Only issue I had was parking area is quite small so, no trailers or large trucks.

Would definitely stay here again. The pool was pretty dirty and the rooms need some maintenance (mainly regarding water damage in the bathrooms). But both rooms were clean, well furnished, and relatively quiet. Location was very convenient for us. We were happy overall, especially with the kind and professional front desk staff.

Great staff and very clean, but very old and with a lot of failing parts. The elevator was broken for one day. The sink was hardly draining. There was no clothing iron in the dedicated space above the ironing board in the room. The room I stayed in had likely been smoked in - the maids were being very generous with the freshener to cover the smoke smell. Overall, it was a good value considering the price, but it is far from a luxurious accommodation.

Limited parking, daily parking fee for additional vehicles, room was not ready on time.

The best part of our stay was the front desk interactions. Both check in and check out were easy, and the staff was pleasant. Our second floor room was easily accessible via stairs or elevator. The most noise we heard was from the housekeeping carts. At first glance our room was well kept. The king size bed is on the smaller side, but it was comfortable and the pillows held up. I had to bring in a blanket from the van our second night because the room got a bit chilly for me. I did try to turn on the heater, but turned it off immediately due to the smell. Our bathroom walls were pretty gross. I, fortunately, brought in disinfecting wipes and gloves from work and made good use of them in the bathroom and on the sink, as well as on the fridge and microwave. Our toilet only flushed properly intermittently, and we had to use the ice bucket to fill the toilet tank with water so we could flush. TV had plenty of channels, but we stuck to watching cooking shows and Law and Order: SVU. Hotel was easy to drive to, and the street it’s on is not too busy. Parking fills up fast, and depending on where you park, the parking stalls can get really tight. I had to let my daughter out first, then park, then I had to climb to the back of the van to exit thru the sliding doors. There’s a Target, Dollar Tree, and Michael’s close by should you need to do any last minute shopping. Overall, our stay was just okay, and if I had the chance to book again I probably would not.

They took my extra clean towels which I didn’t ask for but did not fix the beds the walls in the bathroom need to be cleaned THEY NEED TO DEEP CLEAN ELEVATOR WALLS NEEDS DEEP CLEANING ON DOOR and all walls BUT OVERALL IT WAS A NICE AND I WILL STAY AGAIN FRont DESK CLERK WAS VERY VERY NICE

The hotel is a little old and rundown. My first room reeked of cigarette smoke. In both rooms the bathroom ceiling had been patched horribly and the paint was bubbling along with mold on the caulk above the tub. And the sink would hold water if you ran it for more than 20 seconds. Overall the room wasn’t dirty if you exclude the bathroom. It does smell like cleaning supplies however, which isn’t a good or bad thing I suppose. I did not see any bugs so that’s alway good.

Room was very dirty. My feet were black when walking on the carpet. The room had a stench of urine. The bed made me itch.

Not a good neighborhood around, inside the room floor is dusty and you could hear people walk by all night, water running noises from building TV is not working.

While mostly evrything was god, the ceiling above the showerhead was showing mold and disrepair.

Room seemed nice and clean at first until we seen a German cockroach in our room they even gave us a can of raid or it to spray ourselves.

Staff were nice. Property is very old. The bathroom has a lot of mold, and the bed was very uncomfortable. It made my back hurt. The room was a bit dirty and outdated. Management should improve the appearance of the whole facility.

The office and breakfast area were nice, there was lots of breakfast options. The room was not so clean. The bathroom was full of mold on the ceiling and by the toilet. The bathtub had a hole in it, and the ac unit looked like it was falling out of the wall. The curtains were so long, they hung over the ac, so it cooled the inside of the curtains and not the room itself. There were clothes from the previous tenant. The rest of the property was clean and the staff was very friendly.

Let’s start by me sorting out Hotels on Expedia but this would qualify as a motel. Checking in went easy, good amount of parking. Got the the room and smelled heavily of cleaning agents. Found what looks like blood on the door of the bathroom, I was able to get a napkin and wipe it off There was a stain on the floor that looked like blood too. The ironing board was beyond dirty so I didn’t use it. Broken outlet for the wash room. Killed a roach during my stay. Permit on the elevator was up to date (yes I look for these sorts of things) Breakfast they claimed starts at 5 but that was a lie, also when I did get breakfast it was not hot, barely room temp. The waffles were a hit. Coffee was mostly water. Wi-Fi only worked on the first day Also needed to check out early so I asked the night before what time I could check out, they said anytime and to my surprise (not) I get to the window and all the lights are turned off. Only needs to wait about 2 minutes though. Needless to say I won’t be staying here again.

Room was big and spacious. Basic necessities all fulfilled in a no-frills hotel room. Area is safe and quiet, and there’s a 24 hour laundromat when I needed to do unexpected laundry. Will consider if I need an affordable quiet place for a getaway staycation in future.

At check in they assigned me the wrong room, but they were able to correct it once I went back to office to ask. The pillows were terrible - way too thick and firm, ended up with a majorly sore neck and headache. The doors don’t seal tight so light leaks in all around the edges. Water pressure in the shower was very good, better than most places.

Room was good.. Bed pretty broke down.. Very loud due to traffic and people continuing to go in and out of rooms slamming doors. No plug for bath tub. Had to use only wash cloth provided to plug drain.

Overall good place with decent food around it, however had pretty bad WiFi.

Person at the counter was nice but the air conditioner/heater didn’t work and to me it’s a big deal because I have issues sleeping if not in the right temperature when brought to the attention to the attendant he quickly and without even checking or trying said there was nothing we could do about it, I asked for another room and he said no instantly, he offered to cancel my room and give me a refund but at that point I had nowhere else to stay, I understand maintenance can take a few days but if you have a room prepared everything should be ready and working, not only that the tv wasn’t connecting to any service and the coffee maker was missing a piece. There was also almost mold by the shower which I could provide picture. I don’t expect a full refund because I stayed but at least a partial one.

The AC/heater did not work properly

Damp, no wifi in the room, front desk said he will talk to the manager but no info after that. After room service, bed sheets are damp, asked for new sheets, front seat kept questioning why bed sheet are damp. Then told me to come back in 10 minute to get a clean sheet. The other front desk is good. Stay away from this place.

Nice budget hotel. The interior is much nicer than the outside. The walls are thin and you can hear other guests. Overall good stay for the price. Would stay again.

We were charged for an additional night when we clearly checked out after one day (we got our deposit back) I called to ask if they could please look into it. The manager who claims his name is Jose ( which I know he is lying) gives the worst service, won’t listen to you, speaks over you, then hangs up on you. I called back and he hung up on me again. He has no intention of helping out or even offered to look into it. We are disputing the charge with our bank, leaving this beautiful review for you all to be aware and reporting it to the BBB for their unethical practices.

It was not a great experience to begin with. I was told that only three channels on the TV were working and there was no rooms they could switch me to the rest of the weekend then on my checkout day, I requested a late check out and all morning someone was banging on my door trying to do room service, so I was not able to get any rest even though I paid extra to stay a little bit later, so that defeated the purpose housekeeping, kept banging on my door and then you had the office desk calling my room as well

I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. They went over and above, making sure we had everything we needed always was asking if there wad anything they could do to make our stay better. The breakfast was AMAZING again going out of their way to make sure our breakfast was just right. I would stay again there price was AMAZING. Thank to the whole staff. Our plane was delayed do to the whole fights were delayed or canceled. They called to nake sure we were ok and still coming.10 out of 10 more properties need to follow their lead.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, however the property was not in a very nice area from what we could tell and there was a homeless woman camped outside the lobby when we arrived late… there were also cigarette butts and smell… besides that the rooms were clean and comfortable.

I stay here every time I visit the area and the location is perfect. Not too far from the interstate. The location is very convenient and has a variety of dining options nearby. The staff have been friendly every single stay and check in is a breeze.

The surrounding area was kind of sketchy, as well as some guests, but it was overall fine.

The check in was easy, the staff was polite. The Hotel is close to many stores, restaurants and the chula vista mall. We, were 20 minutes from the Tijuana border. The breakfast was decent. Coffe, waffles, yogurt, breads, eggs, coffe, juice, cereals. The rooms were remodel recently. I would stay there again

I liked that the continental breakfast included scrambled eggs and sausage links every day. Its location is perfect. There is a Mexican restaurant across the parking lot and a 7-Eleven a few doors down. Within a 5 minute drive, there are places to eat (Chinese restaurant, Denny's) and places to refuel and get supplies (Costco, Walmart). I will definitely keep this location in mind the next time I attend the San Diego Comic Con.

Clean, tidy, easy parking, good internet service. I really liked the breakfast, I was surprised that it wasn't just bread and cereal, it was really good to start the day.

The hotel itself is well maintained, up to date and cleanliess is great. The front desk staff is courteous and friendly. Our disappointment came the morning of November 10 during the 6 am to 9 am included breakfast. Our family went to the buffet at 7:55 am and found the sausage tray empty. When I asked the assigned lady if more sausage would be coming out, he said, "no more." Surprised, I asked, there is no more sausage? And she said, "no." Also, the orange juice dispenser was nearly empty and our little girl got the last cup. No effort by the lady to refill. Same for the apple juice dispenser that was nearly empty. The lady who was assigned to the buffet spent most of her time in the prep/supply room adjacent to the breakfast area, and she chatted with friends who came at various times instead of tending to the buffet. I have stayed at many hotels across the US where breakfast is included, and never have I experienced the food and beverages running out with no effort to refill. We went to the buffet with over an hour left in the 3-hour schedule, so there is no excuse to let the food run out. The rest of the stay was excellent but the breakfast experience and lack of service was a black mark on the property.

The hotel was close to the hospital for visiting. It was also close to the beach and highway system for site seeing. The breakfast items kept running out, slow to be refilled.

Dining area was too small and crowded. mot big enough for guest of this size hotel, needs to be bigger, my kids didn't have a place to eat.

We were attending a conference about a mile away. Hotels.com has very few properties in Chula Vista. This was the closest to the conference site. I thought it was a 2.5 star property but when we arrived, it clearly is only a 2 star. No worries. The breakfast eggs are beyond imagination. I don’t know how they're created, but it clearly is not on the premises. The yolks are all flattened into the egg whites. The egges haven't changed since the last time we stayed at a Quality Inn some 9 years ago.
