Stayed 5 nights

So my family traveled to New Orleans for our vacation, staying in Harvey because it was close but not in New Orleans. We picked this hotel because it had a pool & the sleeping area was separate from the sitting area, creating a bedroom. The first thing we were told when we arrived was that the pool was closed & the ice maker was broken. I asked when the pool would be available & was told he would ask his manager & let us know. When we reached our floor you could smell paint fumes, there were boxes, furniture, etc piled all around various places on our floor. Room was ok, things were rough, furniture had seen better days & the light fixture on my side of the bed was completely loose from the wall & the electric socket would barely hold a plug, it was too loose inside. Breakfast was ok, we’ve had worse/better. There is only one waffle maker in the kitchen, after many attempts on multiple days we gave up, waffles kept coming out undercooked. They had some hot foods & bread to toast, bagels, or yogurt. We would go out, have some fun, & come back to our room to rest & plan. There were times we could hear hammering, etc as they worked on renovating the hotel. They had a dumpster outside & it was so loud when it was delivered. Cleaning our room was every other day & towels weren’t replaced until the day before we left. We had 1 roll of toilet paper, never replenished. Pool was never available. One day breakfast wasn’t available b/c water had been shut off in the kitchen.

The Overnight Desk Clerk tried to charge me extra money for "taxes" as I checked out of the room , which I found to be extremely unconventional for a hotel such as this one. I have never had to pay extra for fees before and I didn’t then. I love staying at Towne Place Suites, but this has really placed lowered my view of this property. I don't think I will ever stay at this hotel again and I will warn anyone in the future about these so called extra taxes being placed on their check outs when leaving their rooms.

As soon as we parked and got out our vehicle we was greeted with the stench of sewage. Once we got checked in and made it to our floor the hallways had a moldy smell. For a complex that has been newly built it was in rough shape. The carpet was dirty, the light fixtures was broken, the hot water on the sink was turned off for some reason and parts of the carpet by the tv was ripped. The sofa/ couch appeared to be broken. I wouldnt recommend this particular hotel to anyone.
