Parking/entry was confusing.. they should have a hotel guest sign at the entry of the parking garage explaining where to go/park. They only had one elevator working and it was long, long, long waits!!! Room size was huge, but smelled of pot and could have used a deep cleaning (stickers left on ceiling, dirty baseboards, handles). Public Jacuzzi was disgusting!! Foamy and dirty slime ring along top. Breakfast was ok, the workers working breakfast really did do a good job. Lobby was pretty. If I came downtown, I would probably pick another hotel next time if none of these issues are addressed.

Ample parking garage spaces but configured to cause a bit of confusion. The exit/entrance gates were haywire the time of my stay so it caused a huge lineup where one car took 10 minutes. There is a daily parking fee. But a great quality place to stay of nearby the hospital system and campus. Convenient.

Customer service at this property is great, very friendly and accommodating. There was a maintenence problem with the suite that we booked and we were provided two rooms next to each other. Only issue we ran into - YOU CAN ONLY ACCESS TGE LOBBY FOR CHECK IN THROUGH THE ELEVATOR IN THE GARAGE. It was very busy when we arrived for check in, 1 of 2 side by side elevators were not working. We tried to access the lobby from stairwells, which we discovered the ONLY way to get to the lobby to check in is to wait for a few full elevators from the one that was working. Once we were able to check in, it was great. Clean rooms, clean pool area, refilled pool towels. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Wish they had a sign up by elevators to let guests know the only way into lobby is through the elevator(s) or a heads up in email you receive for confirmation prior to check in.

The pool was down all weekend so my children were unable to swim also only one elevator working so the wait time for an elevator took forever unless you decided to take the stairs. Breakfast had a lot of options and free all day coffee bar was great!

for a quick overnight stay, it was fine. Pros: nice indoor pool and hot tub, open late(11pm); VERY friendly/helpful staff (the hair dryer in our room was sparking, when it was on High, and they were quick to send a replacement); breakfast was included; Clean Cons: the only way into the hotel is through the parking garage (as far as we could tell) - just made it awkward, circling and trying to find the entrance; only one of two elevators was working during our stay, making for extended wait times (we were on the 6th floor, so not taking stairs with all of our bags); could hear through walls quite easily; BIGGEST CON: The curtains don’t cover the entire window! there is a sheer, covering the middle section, but the heavy curtains are on short tracks that stop and leave about three feet that are just sheers. What that means is that you get LOADS of sunlight coming in, beginning around 6am…so guess what time we started waking up, after a late night. We attempted to stretch the curtains and try to secure them, using a chair, but quickly realized that it would then block the air conditioning. Thank goodness we were on the west side of the hotel, and didn’t get the direct morning sunlight…I would’ve been furious! For this reason, alone, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The walkable areas for dining was great! However, the room wasn’t clean. There were wash clothes with makeup on them left by the sink. No hand soap. Gum left on the night stand. We went to the front desk and all she did was come and grab the items left out and said “Sorry the cleaning people must have left early”

We checked into our room and the bathroom had been used. There were dirty towels all over the floor. When I went down to complain the front desk clerk stated they were out of towels. She finally offered to give us pool towels. We actually wouldn't have stayed but we were exhausted from being on the road. I had to double check the bed because i wasn't sure if the sheets had been changed. It wasn't a great stay. I felt very uncomfortable . Wouldn't stay again ever.

BED BUGS!!!! My mother and I stayed at the property for one night as a girls night. When I woke up in the morning I saw a little bug on my pillow and quickly confirmed that it was a bed bug. The manager came up quickly and also confirmed without hesitation that it was a bed bug. I saw 3 on the bed, but I didn’t look much further than that. I have about 10 bites all over my body and they are awful. The manager promptly issued us a full refund for our stay, which was nice, but it didn’t make up for how disgusting the situation was. Management did ensure us that they were going to clean the room and the adjacent room. Also the pool/hot tub was not available during our stay, which was a big reason we picked this location. Overall it was NOT a good experience. The only good thing about the hotel was it’s location to the down town area.

From the first time we walked into our room til the last time we left it we kept finding long black hairs in the bathroom, on the bottom of our shoes, on the couch etc. and no one in my family has black hair. Either the housekeeping person was shedding the entire time they were cleaning our room or it wasn’t properly cleaned the first time around.

This is probably the cleanest Hampton Inn I have ever stayed in (and one of the cleanest hotels in general). The property is spotless and conveniently located with easy parking and walkable areas. Would definitely stay here again next time!

Not great. I wouldn’t stay here again. Two elevators and only one was working. We had a reservation for 6 and the bathroom was only stocked with enough towels for four. Called the front desk three times and there was never an answer. The sink in the bathroom was strange, the water coming out of it smelled like sewage, so we all used the kitchenette sink. The tub did not drain well which was a slipping hazard for kids. General cleanliness was lacking, dust accumulation on all pictures baseboards and doors, dirt build up in all corners of bathrooms. Beds were terrible, super hard and one of them squeaked from the springs so loudly anytime you moved on it. Breakfast and coffee was good which is why I give it two stars.

The bathroom did not seem super clean - shower had visible soap scum, there was a toothpaste spot and hair in the sink. There was also someone’s yogurt left in the fridge. It seemed like one of the blankets on the bed did not have a cover on it (just an uncovered quilted duvet). The breakfast was okay but all paper plates and cups and clearly microwaved food. The staff were friendly!

Our room was clean, but the bed was very hard, the pillows were thin, and the air was dry making our night's sleep uncomfortable and not very restful. The glass shower sliding door needed some maintenance as the handles and even the wheels holding the sliding door were loose and close to falling off.

I was surprised to learn that rooms are not automatically cleaned each day. I have never had this experience before and will say I was disappointed. I was told I needed to request that the room be done. For the price being paid, it seems like it is a reasonable service to be provided.

The front desk staff did not look welcoming and were efficient but not friendly or informative at check-in (no explanation given about breakfast or facilities whatsoever, just handed me a card). Also there were no towels available in the pool area, and the front desk staff was not friendly about request to stock them and never delivered them as promised despite about 12 people using pool area from multiple rooms. The rooms were clean but the beds were very hard and the AC would not run to setpoint or with fan on all the time per requested setting. Great location in middle of town, nice lobby/bfast area, although bfast itself was just standard free bfast food, the parking garage and pool/hot tub were nice. Breakfast staff was kind enough to pour me a cup of milk an hour before breakfast started so that my 80-yr old dad could have it with his pills before an early flight. Elevators were slow.

I booked our stay at Hampton Inn and Garden Suites downtown Grand Rapids thru Hotels.com. Upon arrival, I presented my Hotels.com reservation confirmation and ID. The clerk could NOT find my reservation anywhere in their system. They KNEW I'd booked a room and had my confirmation but it was not showing up in their system. My family had to wait ~30min in the lobby for the hotel staff to contact Hotels.com and try to figure things out. Unfortunately, they were not able to. In the meantime, Hotels.com kept trying to call me to book us at a different hotel room. That was NOT the answer for my family. We'd just driven 4 hours and had our time planned out so we could arrive at the event on time that we were going to attend. However, the staff at Hampton Inn Grand Rapids was TREMENDOUS and they juggled other reservations around to fit us in. They were phenomenal. A+++ service. They were 110% patient and understanding and showed tremendous empathy for the situation we were in. Our numerous THANK YOUs were nowhere near enough.

The location is very convenient. The check-in was OK but start off a little unwelcoming, at first the desk clerk seemed annoyed we interrupted her day. But she calmed down and was efficient and thorough doing the check-in and mostly pleasant. Our stay was good, we had a King bed room, it was clean and roomy, the bed was comfortable. The large chaise arm chair seemed out of place, it occupied a lot of space; a chair and ottoman would work better as the ottoman could be moved to the side allow to allow better use of the floor space. We used it to hold a suitcase. The breakfast was OK, same as most hotel offer except there we not breakfast pastries. For the price point the towels were skimpy, and some very thin and well past their retirement date. The walk in shower was surprisingly large, unfortunately the shower control valve was so tight it almost required a wrench to turn....big miss on the part of maintenance. Another unexpected surprise was the $18/day parking fee; I saw no mention of this when booking the room. Over all, good facility, I do recommend it.

Everything about this property was great except for the customer service. My room hadn't been serviced for 3 days and I asked to have it serviced via text and the front desk 3 times on the same day. No one came so I took out my own trash and got my own towels. Very frustrating especially since I stayed for 8 nights. Other than that, room and facilities were great!

Staff was very helpful and friendly. They overbooked and did not have the original room I booked but gave us a room that actually worked out better for how many people we had staying there. They paid for our parking, and gave us snacks as a thank you for being understanding! Very clean room, breakfast was great, and very walkable area. All around great place to stay!

Great location for access to the hospital (Corewell) and also a great Italian restaurant just a short walk away. Appreciated the attached parking ramp. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. The only complaint was on our day of check out, which was at noon, the cleaning people pounded on the door and attempted to enter the room at 8:45am. The Do Not Disturb sign was on the door. When I yelled through the door that i wasn't interested, they left, but pounded on the door again at 10 am. This was unacceptable to me especially since check out wasn't until noon.

Room and hotel were perfect! Super comfortable and clean. Great accommodations. We loved our stay. Just note that it’s about a mile away from downtown so if you plan on spending time down there, it’s a bit of a hike.

We stayed here for a music festival about 1.5 miles away. The property was very clean and the service was great. It was busy when we checked in, but the gentleman up front didnt stress out or rush us. The included breakfast was a standard continental breakfast and there was at least 1 staff member making sure everything was stocked and ready. The beds were definitely comfortable too! I am picky and have back issues, but this was a great stay.
