Motel 6-Colby, KS

It would have been nice to have been able to use the elevator. But it was for staff only. Even though i was on the second floor i struggled. They didn't have any on 1st floor. This day was like 106 degrees. So the ac was struggling to cool the room down. I asked if they had a fan I could use. Nope. I had the ac down to 62. Finally kicked in to cool during the night.

Liked had a room with an external door, was on a road trip and this made getting in and out very easy.

PARKING A ONE TON PICKUP WAS A LITTLE TUFF

What I didn’t appreciate were the bugs I encountered in my room and the unreliability of the secure access card operation for entry. It took a great deal of patience and time to unlock and open the door to the room via the outside entrance.

This was an easy on/off for my travel route. I liked that my room had a door direct to the parking lot for ease in unloading my car.

Nice clean room. One of the few motels that still has smokingrooms. Just ask for one when you book a room.

Clean comfortable room and bed. Probably the most comfortable bed i have ever slept on at a motel 6. Friendly staff. Quick check in. Loved being able to park in front of room.

For the price it was decent room. On a previous trip I stayed in an interior room and that was lovely. This time I stayed in an exterior room (110), and while it was convenient for unloading, it was in MUCH rougher shape. My biggest complaint is the shower would only provide freezing cold or scalding hot water and, secondly, the cockroach that lumbered through the weather stripping gap in the door was a little disconcerting. I recommend requesting an interior room and you'll be fine. The rooms are very clean.

Overall it was pretty good. But the girls had no TV to watch. I didn't want to bug the front end again. The outside door didn't lock. It had tape over it so I didn't think that was too safe. The frontend was very nice and efficient.

They were in the process of updating the building. New windows, fresh paint job, so I ended up on 2nd floor with my dog and no elevator. The clerk was gracious to offer help getting my bags up to 2nd floor. For one night in my travels, it worked fine and was a comfortable place to stay. Conveniently close to a WalMart to get a few things I forgot.

Room was the cleanest I have seen for a Motel 6. Nothing too fancy, but was quiet and comfortable.

I really appreciated how clean and well cared for the hotel and room was. There was an obvious pride of ownership!

We aren't terribly choosy--just needed a place to sleep for a night. Check-in was easy, our room was spacious, the hot water was hot, the hostess friendly. A couple of downsides.. the room looked clean overall, but there was a ring around the tub, when we wiped up a small spill, the towel was quite dirty, and we found a small dead roach. None of these prevented us from getting what we needed...a night of sleep.

Conveniently located and friendly staff but the state of the room itself was really lacking. The shower had visibly not been cleaned in a long time and the floor around the bed was sticky and covered in dust and dead bugs. All easily fixed with daily cleaning. That aside it was a nice place to sleep for the night and it was easy to get to and was close to food and gas

Open door to strong smell of Pinesol & human urine. Floors sticky, TV maybe 6 channels. No kleenex Sheets & towels clean. Never again...

Room was clean, bed was very comfortable. It was quiet. The property is older but don’t let that scare you. If you’re looking for a quiet place to get a good night’s sleep and not break the bank, this is your place.

I was pleasantly surprised by this stay. The rooms were very nice for the price and everything was clean and well maintained.

Although it was value priced, I had higher expectations for cleanliness. Specifically, the floor in our hotel room and bathroom felt greasy. You kind of had to slide your way through the room and don’t dare do so without shoes on.

This honestly shouldn’t have been more than a $50 dollar room tops. When we got to our room, we were tired and just wanted to relax and watch some tv. We turned on the tv and it didn’t work, we tried to see what the issue was and couldn’t figure it. So my husband went to the front office to let them know that the tv and cable wasn’t working, they said they’d be right over. 45 minutes later still nobody has come, we were hungry and tired and just wanted to relax. I finally asked my husband if our firestick would work on the tv, he replied; yep! So I ran out into the car and grabbed it. The office never did come to our room to check on the tv. The tub was filthy, and just as we were getting ready to fall asleep, the racket in the room above us was terrible, thought the ceiling was going to come down, and the outside noise was just as bad. The floor under our feet was so dirty and the floor was warped so it wasn’t level. My husband and I travel a lot back and forth from Tennessee to Utah, and we definitely won’t be stopping by this place again! The owners of this motel should be ashamed that they don’t clean or take care of their business any better than this, but I guess when foreigners own it their level of cleanliness and care aren’t the same standards as the people in the U.S. And Motel 6 please spare me the reply; we’re so sorry that we didn’t meet your needs! You all know you’re not meeting the needs of the customers and further more you don’t care.

Actually, it was one of the best Motel 6's we've been to as far as appearance goes but our stay was bad. As soon as we got there, we realized that the tv wasn't working. The front desk was notified immediately and had to come back three times and still didn't get it fixed. The last time they tried it was after 9:00 pm and we just said screw it and we went to bed. At just about midnight we woke up to what sounded like the upstairs guests running from one end of the room to the other over and over and over for hours non-stop. At about 2:00 am, add a beeping fire alarm. I assume it was the low battery alert. Aren't those supposed to be checked periodically? We got very little sleep to start an 8 hour trip the next day. Ugh!!!

My tv wouldn't work and so I asked for a different room (they came twice to "reset" my tv). There were hardly any cars in the parking lot but they told me they were sold out! Complete fabrication!

Very clean and met my needs for one night. The window air conditioner was extremely loud!

the A/C didn't work. he tried to convince me that it did. when i refused to stay in that room with no A/C he said that he would refund my money for the reservation. He was so shady i doubt that he did.

Bath tub was slippery.

we did not end up staying as the TV service was out.

Bathtub needs a bath mat to keep from falling, VERY slippery ! !

Our king room was huge with great vinyl plank flooring, a fresh paint job done carefully with straight lines and corners showing the hotel values a job well done. Bed and pillows comfortable and there was a leather couch for tv viewing. Great value and would definitely stay there again

Expedia says they are pet friendly and no fees. Standard for Motel 6. They asked me if I had any pets, and when I said I had a cat, they said no cats. They cancelled my reservation. They need to change their amenity info that they provide to Expedia if it's dogs only or room specific.

I love stoping here on road trips with my family and pets. The staff has always been wonderful to us!

Paid for this room in advance through Expedia, since we were running late and checked in after midnight they told us we would have to pay again. I explained the money had already been taken out of my account but they insisted they would have to refund that amount and issue a new charge. Needless to say, it was a mess and I was double charged.

We were over charged for an extra guest. $10 instead of the posted difference on our room door of $6 and the Motel 6 website difference of $5. We spoke with the manager who promised to contact us when he got in that afternoon. It is 36 hours after we spoke to him and we have not heard from him. The desk clerk who checked us in spoke in a very condescending way simply because I had not checked the 2 guests button when making the reservation. I have no issue paying extra for my mistake in booking but it seems he just chose a random amount of $10 and charges my credit card. Taking advantage of tired guests who have been driving for 10 hours obviously that is why we checked in after 1AM is unacceptable. It is not about the $ amount but the disrespect from the desk clerk and lack of response from Mr. Patel (the manager).

When we first arrived there, I told the man behind the counter that I had made reservations for two-night stay. The man told me that I was not in the system. I showed him my reservation and he still told me there was nothing is the system. He finally had to call a manager to come down and see what was going on the manager pulled my reservation with no problem. i wasted about 45 minutes to an hour with this mess. Let's just say it did not start my stay well.

I brought a dog to a pet friendly Motel. I was told upon check-in I would have to put down a deposit. I was given a pet friendly room with no carpet. I never leave my dog unattended. We were there for 3 nights. Never asking for room service or bothered staff in anyway. We took out our own trash and our room was left in perfect condition. They didn't credit back my "deposit". RIDICULOUS!! We stay here every year.... no more!!

I had booked this motel a week in advance and the moment they saw me they turned me away for having a service animal. I reminded him I was federally protected he told me he had no pet rooms available. I reminded him it was not a "pet" it was a service animal and he refused me service and acted like he was doing me a favor by canceling me for free. He then lied to hotels.com/Expedia telling them it was due to maintenance. I will never stay here, and honestly should press charges. Horrible horrible horrible. Mr. Patel was the one who turned me away and lied to the booking website.

Horrific. Room has an interior door and an unexpected exterior door. Safety was a concern, but desk clerk refused to move us w/o a $30 upcharge. Exterior door deadbolt didn't work, and the door burst open during the night but was stopped by the swing bar door guard. We were startled and tried to call the front desk ... only to find the in-room phone was dead. We walked to the front desk begging for a room change or a refund so we could find another property ... but the desk staff denied everything and refused to help us. Police were called because of our break-in concern. After much haggling, another desk staff member (who appeared to be an owner) gave us the refund and we moved to a much better and safer property.

Very friendly. Check in went very smoothly . The room was clean and comfortable. I always stay at this hotel when I am traveling to visit family.

I booked and paid for a room for my son who is driving to Missouri, he got a call from the Motel while he was driving on I-70. The Motel said they no longer had a room for him and if he agreed to upgrade to a nicer room and pay more money they would have a room for him. That kind of behavior I see as shady and dishonest, so he told them to cancel the room. I travel this route frequently so Motel 6 in Colby will be avoided, I use Orbitz frequently and never had this happen before. Hopefully at least they will refund the room I paid for but they said they didn't have.

The motel was old and ran down. The clientele seem to be a little bit on the rough side. We did not feel safe

close to fuel station and food and walmart!

Sheets and bed spread were stained, curtains were filthy. Staff were not friendly. Some of the lights were not working. Felt unsafe

Typical Model 6 facility, pretty basic but did have a little table with two chairs, nice for eating. Very clean, friendly staff. Good coffee in lobby. Had someone clumping around on 2nd floor above us at 5:30 AM. But all in all, a place we would stay at again. Good value.

It was a very baisc room. But, for a pet-friendly hotel that accepted cats at this price point, I get that. The motel looked like it was in the process of rennovations. We could hear our neighbor's television loud and clear. The volume was loud and we believed they left the room until very late at night with it still on. It was stressful enough for our kitten to be in a strange place. We had to go to the lobby for coffee, which we thought would have been in the room. The staff was very nice and let me borrow a broom to sweep up an excessive amount of litter that got spilled.

Amazing for a Motel 6. Easily as good as most Quality Inns...no breakfast

Charge for extra pillows,no hairdryers, no coffee makers in the room. You get what you pay for I guess...

Average quick stop interstate hotel with no frills. We had to cross a busy street to walk to get milk and snacks. Front desk was nice enough. It wasn’t a run down dive, it’s was average all around. Good for a one night stop on a longer trip.
