Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Wheeling at The Highlands

Lovely hotel, excellent and helpful check in staff, superb breakfast, fast internet, free onsite parking, spacious room though our bathroom fan was a bit loud.

Loved every bit of it. Staff was very friendly the moment we stepped inside. We Could use the laundry equipment for free & the gym was best one I’ve seen in a hotel. The room was fantastic & very spacious. Definitely would Recommend & return to it when I travel again.

Quiet and comfy. Enjoyed the back outside seating for late evening cocktails.

The property was very clean and the staff were very welcoming. It is a pet friendly hotel and the staff were so kind to our dog Sally. The breakfast was great. The kitchenette in the room was very convenient with the full size refrigerator, stove top and microwave for meals.

Great location! Not to far from West Liberty University . The staff was nice and welcoming. Room and facility looks newer. Snacks are available 24/7 as a courtesy at no extra cost. My family and I had a great experience.

Not enough parking and tight spaces

I had stopped over on a long drive during a bad rain storm and was a bit frazzled when I arrived. The front desk evening shift person was so warm and welcoming and even helped me find parking when the lot was full. It made a big difference to have someone friendly. When I got to the room, it was large and the bed was very comfortable and had a kitchenette. It was a great stay and I highly recommend it.

Great stay. Had king suite, large refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. Good breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits. Outside sitting area with fireplace. Will stay here again and only 15 minutes to Oglebay. Try Moss Farm Winery, best wine I’ve ever had and they make excellent moonshine also.

Room had some stains on the counters that weren’t cleaned. Easily wipe able so didn’t feel like the room was very clean as it was the first thing we saw walking in. Lots of black dirt from the pipeline workers everywhere.

The check in was easy. The breakfast was served until 10am and they had drinks all day. We came down during the day and they had cookies and fruit out! It was a great snack. They rooms were very clean and the staff was amazing!! We will be back! It is a great location for us with our daughter there in school.

I stayed here for one night on vacation and really wish I hadn’t. The hotel looked nothing like the pictures online. There were about six men smoking right outside the entrance the entire time I was there, which made me uncomfortable walking in and out with my service dog. The room seemed clean at first, but later I noticed long black dog hairs all over the bathroom floor – definitely not from my dog. Overall cleanliness was bad. Garbage cans were overflowing, and the outdoor seating area was covered in cigarette butts and ashes. Even the benches out front were filthy. Breakfast was gross and the coffee was undrinkable. Staff were just okay – not rude but not welcoming either. I got such a bad vibe that I went out to buy bug spray for peace of mind. I would not recommend this hotel and will never stay here again.

We have stayed at this hotel at least ten times over the past several years while occasionally visiting the other hotels in the area. There is no comparison. The rooms are alot larger with a kitchen. Full size fridge that you don't have to crawl on the floor to use like all the other hotels have. Their breakfast is also better than all the other hotels in the area that we have stayed at. For what they give you, you just can not beat the price.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Wheeling at the Highlands is a great place to stay. Very clean property, friendly and helpful staff. The room was very comfortable and was fully equipped to meet our needs. Whenever we're in town, Hawthorn Suites at Wheeling, will definitely be our preferred choice.

Room was nice and great to have the larger fridge and cooktop. Beds were comfortable and blackout blinds were excellent. Shower had lots of hot water, lots of space in the room. Breakfast was always good, loved the fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. When we arrived they even had lasagna out. Kitchen area was always clean and hallways were always clean. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. Lots of great shopping really close and only a few minutes to Wheeling.

We have stayed at the Hawthorne several times over the past few years due to its cleanliness,price and quietness. This time was different. We stayed in room 404. I don't think it was ever cleaned from the last guests. Desk chair looked like someone had an accident on it,discussing. Desk top was dusty & the floor below it had an M&M,fruitloop & other various pieces of garbage on it. There were no sheets,blanket or pillows for the sofa bed, wife had to go down to the desk to get some. In the tub I found in the one corner to the left of center of long back wall blood & tissue that appeared to be a small scab. Towels were folded but hastily thrown under the sink,& one had an earwig in it that was dead.Soap & condiments were almost non existent.Refrigerator door side looked like it has never ever been wiped down since it was new.Table top had something smeared on it we had to wipe down before we could use it.We usually use the microwave light underneath for a night light BUT it didn't work.Light on night stand had bad receptacle,we had to replace it with another one in the room as I need it for my Bi-Pap.We never used any of their dishes as they were all water marked & as dirty as the rest of the place was who knows what else was on them.We can't take pictures and send them or we would have.Don't know if mangement doesn't give them enough time to clean or if they are just lazy.My bet is on mangement.We usually let 5.00 each night we stay,this time they should have payed me.

Was not super impressed. Smudges and stuck food on the fridge door and handles. Bathroom was not very clean. Coffee maker in the room was disgusting. Pink and black mold in the shower. The shower door leaked. Had to put towels on the floor so we didn’t slip from all the water. I would not stay here again.

Needs update and cleaning, filty bathroom,dirty bed sheets, etc

Very comfortable beds, walls are too thin could hear the teenagers in the next room who were laughing, etc until 2 am.

The hotel is in a great location and the gentleman that checked us in was fabulous. He was so friendly and caring and helpful. The room was beautiful, nice and clean very spacious and the bathroom was just luxurious. I had a great stay.

There are no usb outlets in the room which is almost unheard of these days. There was some damage in the room. A dented microwave and plumbing issue under sink.

Stay was very nice they only downfall their tubs don't drain so we had to wait a while before each one of us could get a shower

there was really bad sweat smell in our room, we had booked 2 rooms and one of the room smelled terrible of sweat. we didnt contact front desk for the smell since we were staying for one night and kids had already settled in the beds. staff was really good and friendly.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The plumbing could use a clean out, tub drains slow, but certainly works.

The room had a bad smell, i couldn't stand it.

Great place to stay while in town. Only thing wrong was not very many tv channels worth watching. Other than that great place

Warm cookies greeted us along with friendly staff, clean well equipped room, comfortable mattress, quiet rooms, decent breakfast! When I got home I realized I had left my luxury brand pillow in the room, a few hours later I received an email with an offer to ship it to me (before I even thought to call and ask if it was there) would definitely stay here again.

The front desk receptionist was just absolutely the sweetest. We had a great day.

Terrible customer service. Booked queen suite with 2 queen and a sofa bed for my family. Bathroom door was broken. Asked for the other room, receptionist was reluctant to help, asked for a manager's contact but refused to give saying manager out of town. They downgraded and gave 2 queens without sofa which was not sufficient, one of the family members had to sleep on the floor on blanket.

Close proximity to where I was going, plenty of food options and perfect room size for my family!

Our experience was great. The only thing that was not great were the eggs, they were inedible. They were cooked too long and they were too hard.

The staff at front desk was very friendly and the all night coffee and cookie bar was a great feature. Breakfast was best option we've had at any places we've stayed previously. Thank you Hawthorn for a very pleasant place to stay, we highly recommend and will stay again.

This was a clean, friendly place to stay. Nice blanket in closet for cool nights. Fully stocked kitchen for your cooking needs. Variety breakfast included bacon, eggs, two types of potatoes, muffins, pancakes and anything else you could want! Only suggestion for you is to request extra shampoo, conditioner, and body wash as what you are given only covers a single person. Overall a quiet, comfy, nice place

Very nice hotel. The room was very clean. Really liked the bed - comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Loved the amenities and that there was free food out at all times in addition to the snack bar! Lovely.
