Stayed 3 nights

Small stay with a good location. If you want a cheap stay in Kyoto, this might be a good option. Do note that it didn't feel that traditional + there wasn't much comfort, you basicaly slept on a thick blanket. If you don't mind sleeping on hard surfaces, this might be ok for you. The houseowner was constantly keeping an eye out & watched what you were doing all the time once you got in the common rooms, which felt a bit uncomfortable.

Safe, quiet, clean, homely. Good enough for me. One thing to know is that there’s no elevator, so beware for those with big luggages.

Room was clean but a little smelly? If you're a medium-large to large human, the bathroom and shower are gonna be cramped. The stairs to the second floor are incredibly steep and shallow and scary when carrying a suitcase.

Stayed 1 night

Absolutely perfect. I needed a quick one night stay, walking distance from Kyoto Station and it had everything I needed. The room is small but no bigger than it needs to be when you just want a bed to fall asleep on after a long journey. The owner met me at the door, welcomed me in, gave me a tour and was generally very helpful and friendly. I'd definitely stay again.
