I stayed with a friend for a weekend away from our young kids, hoping to get great sleep and come home relaxed and recharged. Unfortunately, the beds and pillows at this hotel are atrocious. I’ve had better nights sleep tent camping. Additionally twice when we came back to our room, housekeeping had left the door cracked open! After the first time we were super cautious to make sure it was fully closed when we left and it happened again. The hotel staff were very nice and quick to respond when we had minor issues with our fridge and fireplace. Our spa services were overall good, but the spa itself left something to be desired. The furniture wasn’t comfortable and it just didn’t have a relaxing spa vibe. It didn’t help that it’s attached to the indoor pool area so there were some kids in there. The hotel itself was cute and we loved the European vibe, but neither of us will be coming back and will not be recommending it.

Great Location - Vail Village! The service was terrible in every aspect, waited on bags for over hour when checking in, we stated we can take them on our own but the staff insisted (it felt it was tip related) but we were in a rush. There was no blankets for the murphy bed or main bedroom, called 3x. I inquired to 3 staff members for a towel in mens bathroom near gym they all walked or said someone should refil them soon, the pool was filthy with leaves and not vacuumed, property was dated, and someone walked in our room asking if someone was there for checkout and my significant other was in the shower as I ran to door and no apology. I assume when staying in a "FIVE" star property, the service would align.

Amazing property. First class sauna and spa. We went the week before Memorial Day and Vail was dead. But having the hotel basically to ourselves was really a unique experience. Everything about this place- food, service, rooms and are top flight. Can’t wait to come back!

First stay in vail village. Enjoyed the pool/hottub/fireplace area very much after several ski days. Restaurant with live music was nice in the evening. Ski valet and their shop location only 50 yards from the main gondola was clutch, and probably will have me returning to this hotel in the future.

The spa was clean and perfectly maintained, and every interaction with staff was fantastic. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay special, and exhibited an extraordinary level of service. Perfect location, and the restaurants were excellent. I can't think of any way they could have made our stay better than it was.

One of my favorite hotel in the US. This place has great location access to Vail town. Everything is walking distance. Facility feels like I’m in the Disney Frozen movie. It’s warm, cozy, and comfortable. Their spa, pools, and library lounge are relaxing and well maintained. 10/10 would come back if I’m in the area.

Overall it was a great trip. However, my husband and I got food poisoning. We narrowed it down to either the cookies they give you at turn down service or from the coffee cups meant to be used with the Nespresso machine. We happened to be in our room one morning when maid service came around and she definitely was wearing gloves but used those gloves to clean the toilet and then handle mugs. Really gross when I think about it. Majority of the staff was great, superb. One bell hop may have been having a bad day but totally hit my child with the cart and didn’t even stop to see if they were ok. A lot of highlights but also some worrisome things observed.

Visiting in September allowed us to see the colors begin to change! The Sonnenalp staff goes above & beyond to meet your needs! We had never been the Vail and did have questions about directions, locations, transportation, etc! The concierge was amazing in not only providing guidance but also making arrangements to make our stay so much more enjoyable! We hiked, rode the gondola, shopped, ate at so many of the area restaurants so easily accessible by walking, visited Ford Park, went horseback riding at Vail Stables, and more! So much to do—our 4- night stay was perfect, but we can’t wait to return in the winter. The housekeeping staff was so attentive! Our room always smelled so clean! Honestly, the entire property looked and smelled clean and fresh! The restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner were so good—staff was engaging and great to talk with as well. I must admit, when making our initial decision to book we were deciding between the Sonnenalp & another very high-end, well known property. We consistently said how happy we were that we chose the Sonnenalp!! Can’t wait to return!!!

From "check in" to "check out", every aspect of our stay was exemplary! We were warmly welcomed and ushered to our room. The suite was very spacious and sparkling clean. Complimentary ice, bottled water, and cookies were brought to our room shortly after our "check in". I can't imagine a better place to stay in Vail!

The room they gave me was tiny and felt like I was in an attic. There were very few guests - I would think they would consider giving me a higher category room to show me how nice the hotel is. Instead it was puny and the view was of the roofline. Very disappointing.

Sonnenalp is a great family owned hotel. It does have what seems like very low ceilings, so it makes it feel less luxurious, but it is still a wonderful property with kind staff. The room was very warm & would not cool down without opening the windows, and that was frustrating, but overall was a very nice experience.

Probably the best hotel in Vail. Perfect location, great amenities, great food at Bully Ranch, and their Cafe has huge, delicious croissants - some of the best I’ve ever eaten. We stayed in a Juniper Suite with 2 queens, balcony overlooking the pool and creekside. Bathroom was huge. Everything was just perfect. I would stay here again.

Sonnenalp is as good as it gets in Vail. The management and staff are so friendly. They always make you feel like a valued customer. The property is gorgeous and the spa/pools offer the perfect environment to relax while enjoying beautiful nature. We can’t wait to come back.

We have been loyal to the Sonnenalp for years. And I have to say, was a little disappointed this trip. The front desk gal had attitude, our room was not ready at 4 pm, which is absolutely unacceptable. So yes, our overall stay was fine, but we did not receive the above average service we normally get.

We always enjoy our stays at the Sonnenalp. The bell service was particularly good, especially Jacob from Alabama and the other guy from Minnesota. We normally love eating at the Bully Ranch but our server had to leave midway through our meal and the person who took over did absolutely nothing. We had to track him down just to get our check. And the service in the hotel was particularly slow this time around. These things, while normally just minor frustrations, are compounded because we have a medically complex child and having to wait or go without because no one is following up can be very challenging. Given the cost of the hotel and its location, we do expect fantastic service. We were disappointed this time around, and may try another hotel next time as a result.

Property is beautiful. Enjoyed our room. Only issue was the AC was broken the first night, and it was pretty sweltering in our room. However, the night manager did come up to our room at midnight and attempt to solve the issue, and then they comped us that night's rate, so I can't really ding them for that. I found the staff to be so helpful and accommodating during our stay. I think we'll return, and I'd recommend it for others.

Great location, very friendly staff. Lodgpole room’s balcony was over the vail village walkway, which had great views of the main street and mountains. Pillows are feather down which was not great for us. Upon checkout, we learned they have a foam one that you could request. Treff and Bully Ranch were onsite and good.

Probably the best hotel in Vail. Perfect location, great amenities, great food at Bully Ranch, and their Cafe has huge, delicious croissants - some of the best I’ve ever eaten. One of my favorite resorts that I have traveled to! Their customer service is the best! Accommodating and friendly. Breakfast buffet is pricey but delicious. Enjoyed the room and pool. We will most definitely return.

The TV had very few options besides on demand, I tried to pay for 1 night at the property but the price was way higher than on Expedia, The breakfast at Ludwig (on the property) was extremely expensive (240 for 3 people) and low quality, The dinner at Bully Ranch (on the property) was very expensive and not great, more like a low level burger place and the burger for 37usd does not come with fries so overall for high price property I would call it average to low

Great stay, Michael the car valet was superior! Desk was also very helpful. We enjoyed the restaurants associated with the property. Breakfast was a bit overpriced for what it was compared to others we have had that were similar, however, it was good as was the service. We only had it once as it just wasn’t worth it with other options around. Rooms were clean as was property grounds. Overall a wonderful stay and would come back to Sonnenalp.

Fantastic stay at the Sonnenalp. Loved the location in Vail Village. Walk to everything. Restaurants at the hotel were very good. Ate at Bully Ranch 3 times, twice at Swiss Chalet and 2 mornings at Ludwigs for breakfast. The schnitzel at Swiss Chalet was perfection. The hotel is very authentic German, loved feeling like we were in Europe. Very romantic and great for couples. Probably wouldn't be my choice to bring younger children. An older crowd for sure which made for a lovely quiet stay.

The hotel is very boutique and the rooms are amazing. I was disappointed with Ludwigs breakfast as they offered no a la carte option so I end up paying $60 for an omelette. We also left some items in a drawer in the room and upon calling the hotel to retrieve the items when we got home, they had mysteriously disappeared. I would not expect this for a hotel of this calibre so I would reconsider staying here again.
