I had an early flight out of MSP, but I picked this hotel despite it being 20 mins away from the airport because it has a hot tub and had very high ratings (>9). The tub was functional, but it was very dirty. I had to ask the front desk worker because I honestly was not sure what was the accumulated mass at the bottom of the tub. She called the daytime manager and then informed me that it was dirt/sand from peoples shoes. I understand that sometimes this is out of their hands, but it was a Wednesday night and I can tell that the tub itself had not been properly cleaned in some time. Overall, not worth it. I’d try somewhere else first. Also, you need to pay $22 for parking daily.

Nice and clean. Parking might be an issue. They charge extra for it, but I could barely find a spot. Large vehicles were parked in compact spaces. I was lucky a spot opened, but it was a hassle to deal with at night.

Unique set up with Home 2 Suites and Hampton in adjoined property. LOVED the rooftop bar - GREAT view, quiet, relaxing place to just "chill". All of the staff were professional, polite and went above and beyond! I will DEFINITELY stay here again BECAUSE of the customer service and friendly staff.

The hotel is located close to the U of M area, with plenty of restaurants around and 3 minutes away from the train stop. The rooms are big and convenient. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Facilities include a big gym and a nice and cozy pool.

Front desk staff were great, very helpful. Shuttle to the hospital and clinic area is a very nice addition. Only the small parking lot is a negative. That’s understandable in such an urban location but still a drawback, especially in winter.

One of my pillows had a bloody snot on my pillowcase. I have never had this happen at a Hampton Inn. None of the pillowcases smelled fresh and clean. If it wasn’t so late and I didn’t have my daughter with me I would have left. Needless to say I slept with a towel on my pillow. So disappointed, shame on you.

The room had a smell to it like stinky feet. I feel they need to clean the carpets or have them rooms updated to have the flooring in the bathroom be in the whole rooms.

Rooms were super clean and spacious. Overall, the property seemed really well maintained. Parking was convenient. Breakfast was great as well as the lady who served the breakfast. Rates were reasonable. Would definately stay here again.

Everything was clean and modern. Linda who served the breakfast was a delight. The only real problem was the outlets. They were so worn down that plugs wouldn't stay in. I had to shove paper under the one at the nightstand to keep my phone plugged in. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay

It was a decent hotel. We only stayed for one night. I think the only thing that bothered me was the traffic noise at night since the hotel is on a busy street. The staff was great. The rooftop bar was nice too. The hotel room was clean and spacious.

We had a wonderful stay here over a long weekend. Check-in was fast and the room was huge. We had garage parking for our full stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Best of all- the Air Conditioning was fantastic!!!

Room 416 has a view of a concrete wall. The hotel is not full, based on parking lot and garage spaces that are very available so I am not sure why I would be given this less than desirable room when others are available. Other than that, clean comfortable room. Nice staff.

Room was next to the elevator and could hear it going up and down all night!!! No sleep, when told about it the young man at the desk told me he was aware of how the hotel was built but they never had a complaint!! Very rude!!! Also asked for top floor and didn’t get it!!!

Listen, my son barfed in the room at 2:30am. The smell was awful and I was trying to clean it up with a damn box of kleenex and washcloths. I called the front desk to ask if they could send me some up some cleaning supplies. They declined and said they'd take care of it and got me in a room just two doors down for no charge. They could've kept my deposit and charged me for the two rooms. I'm sure there are published policies on how to handle these scenarios but when you're bleary eyed at 2:30am doing everything you can to keep from inhaling the noxious odor of barf stained carpet and blankets and someone throws you a life preserver, you're grateful.

I stay at a lot of hotels, and this one gets it just right. HBO channels on the TV. A little nightlight in the bathroom. A nicely stocked little canteen. And terrific, terrific staff. Don't sleep on Tea House, just down the street. Somehow Minneapolis has Chinese food that is equal to the Chinatowns in NYC and San Fran, and Tea House is probably the best. Sounds generic. Looks generic on the outside. Inside is lovely. Staff is great (speak English well if you need some help). Food is amazing! Super authentic.

I was impressed with how clean and tidy this place was. I really liked the breakfast. The staff were very nice. There was ample parking, but the parking wasn't free, which is understandable. The neighborhood could be better, but the hotel had good security infrastructure. (You need a room key to unlock the doors to the hotel 24/7, instead of just at night.)

Spent the night after the AC/DC concert. Light rail took us from the airport directly to the hotel and then to the concert venue! The staff was terrific, and the room was clean and comfortable. I will stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay. Great job, Hampton Inn & Suites Minneapolis University Area!

Wonderful property, but we couldn't give five stars because the breakfast was truly awful. Gelatinous powdered eggs, cold sausage, watery, lukewarm oatmeal. Even though we're on a budget, we decided to go elsewhere for breakfast after two days.
