We like it a lot, except for one mayor thing, no elevator, for us Seniors, going up and down stairs is to much. Everything else is great. The night shift concierge very nice en helpful 👌

Casa del la Tía Tere is a gorgeous spot very close to but not in the middle of the main tourist hub of the Oaxaca. The grounds and architecture of the building are beautiful and well-appointed. The rooms are spotless. A delicious and well balanced breakfast is served on a lovely terrace amidst greenery and hummingbirds.

Basic in some ways, yes. Those in search of grand breakfast buffets and luxurious rooms and baths probably should not stay here. But everything is comfortable and clean, the staff could not have been nicer, more professional, or more helpful, and the swimming pool and terrace breakfast area are a pure pleasure. The location is close enough to the center for easy access—but at enough of a distance to avoid the crowds. And the pool area really is an oasis.

El hotel muy limpio ,excelente atención,bien conservada su arquitectura,muy cómodo céntrico solo unas cuadras se encuentra el centro histórico . Engeneral exlente . Perooo lo único que no estuve de acuerdo es que me cobraron 350 pesos por abrirme el estacionamiento alas 6 am por que el horario de apertura del estacionamiento es hasta las 7;00 am así que hay que considerar ese gasto si vas a salir del hotel con tu vehículo antes de las 7:00 am

The pool was especially an especially nice place to relax during the heat of the day. Loved having a dark room with ac and a fan. The breakfast area on the top floor is very nice. Would love to see it as a bar area again. Very handy to have a fridge in the room and to be able to order beers or wine if needed. Very convenient to walk to town and restaurants.

I highly recommend this hotel, the room was not large by US standard but adequate, spotless and the shower water as hot when needed which we very much appreciated. The staff was the best and the breakfast changed everyday with a choice of two dishes with a side plate of fruit and cereal, juice and coffee or tea. Loved the heated pool in the beautiful tropical garden, The hotel was not far from everything, in a safe neighborhood. A Wonderfull hotel for a good price. We would choose this hotel whenever we return.

Lovely property within walking distance to center and neighborhoods. Enjoyed the pool area and the breakfast on the terrace daily. Only negative is the mattresses are hard…like sleeping on the ground hard. They gave me an extra blanket folded in half to go under the sheets and that solved the problem. I felt guilty letting the shower run a few minutes to get hot knowing there is a water shortage. Housekeeping excellent. Would stay again.

El desayuno debería ser más variado puros huevos todos los días y las habitaciones en sí limpias pero como daban a la alberca no sabemos q nos picó x q terminamos con un montón de ronchas a pesar de q cambiaron la ropa de cama deberían de tener más cuidado y fumigar esas habitaciones x lo mismo no descansamos..

The property itself was very nice. The pool needs more attention. It didn't look very clean or well maintained. We had an issue with a front desk staff, Diego. He booked an excursion for us only to forget to tell the excursion company which created a lot of angst for myself and my companion. So much so, that my friend had a severe panic attack due to non communication from Diego. Other than that, the property is very well located. Walking distance to everything.

The room was just like the picture, facing the pool area. What the picture didn't show was the room was and had no window to the outside. In fact its location, right at the beginning of all traffic to the other rooms made privacy difficult without keeping the poolside door closed. All of this after having paid the premium price for a pool side room. Were i to go back, save the money anf get a second floor room overlooking the pool but with windows and little traffic. Only other comment was the breakfast was just ok, not really worth it. All that being said, its a pretty place, excellent location, safe offstreet parking and pleasant staff. With a differemt room, i'd probably come back.

This was our second stay, and we very much liked the property. the staff is very helpful and kind, the building is go and the pool very nice. It would be a four star for the price if.. the beds were more comfortable, the wifi very unpredictable and the lighting (of things) should be looked at. Bare light bulbs, and wooden baskets as lamp shapes just don’t cut it. The breakfast served daily on the terrace is very nice, they do a great job, many choices and cooked to order.

This was ostensibly a great place! Dipping in the pool during the hottest part of the day was a nice way to have a siesta… The bed was super soft - not in a good way. While we were there they were dealing with some issues with their AC. Of the two nights we stayed we only had working AC for one. They made no offer to make up for the technical failure… Suffice it to say, we didn’t sleep well that night. But, staff was super communicative and helpful. So, if the AC is working - decent place!

Not one to usually write a bad review but the bed meant both my wife and I had a terrible nights sleep every night, it was so bouncy that any movement from either of us woke the other. The air con was very noisy as well. The 5-10 mins for water to heat feels like a waste of water and ended up having cold shower anyway. We came back one evening and asked whether a drink was available, they insisted on having the money in cash that evening and wouldn’t put it to the room, as we didn’t have cash at the time we had to just leave it. Overall it’s a cute hotel, which is well located but can’t stand having a bad sleep.

Lovely pool area and terrace for breakfast. Nice breakfast but hot drinks could be better. The rooms were comfortable and lots of hot water and good ac. Fridge in the room very useful. Quiet location and helpful staff. The rooms in the inner courtyard did not have enough natural light and were a bit gloomy. The hotel manager was rather grumpy and there were not enough umbrellas around the pool area for shade. Lots of steps so not suitable for people with mobility restrictions.

We had an incredible stay, we love the proximity to the center of the city, front staff was amazing!!! the two men there are extremely helpful. One thing I would like to mention is the breakfast staff always gave me the feeling like we were not welcomed or we were like an inconvenience to them, definitely made out breakfast suck. But other than that the hotel in general was amazing!! Can't wait to return, but have my breakfast at the mercado or somewhere else... lol!!

Lovely hotel, room large and had all we needed but a little dark. Breakfast was okay, not tons of choice but enough and everyday the cooked options changed. Very nice area, easy walk to shops and Zocola. The staff were okay but hard to find as seems just 1 giy on duty to do everything. Overall would stay again.

Arriving at the hotel is a giant door, push the button to enter. Check in was simple. The property was nice and well kept. There are no elevators and some of the stairs were a bit steep. Both men at reception we dealt with were very polite, helpful and informative. The housekeeper was sweet and attentive. The breakfast was a variety of two eggs and beans every morning, nothing too exciting. My only complaint of the place is the kitchen staff openly talking about hotel guest. A younger gentleman especially… he would talk about people’s outfits and make fun of their accents and mock/ mimick them. It was very unprofessional and rude. Other than the unpleasant kitchen staff, everyone else was great.

This place was extremely helpful with early arrivals and arrangements for transportation. The pool is very clean and peaceful , definitely a highlight of the property. I will most definitely be coming back to stay on my next visit to Oaxaca.

The property itself was very nice. The pool needs more attention. It didn't look very clean or well maintained. We had an issue with a front desk staff, Diego. He booked an excursion for us only to forget to tell the excursion company which created a lot of angst for myself and my companion. So much so, that my friend had a severe panic attack due to non communication from Diego. Other than that, the property is very well located. Walking distance to everything.

I was visiting Oaxaca for a conference and really appreciated having breakfast starting at 7:30 so I could get to the conference on time. Breakfast was freshly prepared and yummy. The central location of Casa Tía Tere was fantastic. It was within easy walking distance of pretty much anything you would want to do and the staff was very helpful. When I return to Oaxaca, I'll stay there again.

The front desk employee from 700 am is very rude and unprofessional. He hung up the phone on me twice, he was not in a good mood that morning. Employee stated that he runs the place and that no one can tell him anything. I didn’t like the area or the property. In pictures it looks nice but not in reality.

Great hotel if you don't mind a short walk from the heart of the city. Pool and garden terraces are really beautiful and a lovely way to refresh in the hot afternoon (and pool is cleaned daily). Great breakfast with rotating menu (both local and standard food plus always fresh fruit) served on upper open garden terrace. Staff friendly and helpful. Does have easy parking lot if you need it. Quiet, safe, and clean. Good wifi. Coffee/tea/water 24hr self-serve station is a nice touch.

The pool area was pleasant looking, but my bed was too hard for me. Very, very noisy early in the morning. After two sleepless nights I changed hotels. 20 minute walk from where most tour groups pick you up, the location was not very convenient, or close to the areas I was interested in. No reception after 11:00. The area surrounding the hotel probably looks more unsafe than it is, I did walk alone at night to find something to eat. Room was clean, but the windows were dirty. Rather depressing. Unpleasant exchange with the staff over my request to change rooms for a softer bed. Preferred to lose my money and check out rather than have the hard bed and the unpleasant staff ruin my entire vacation.

Great accommodation within 10 minutes walk of the centre of the old section of Oaxaca. Its own little paradise with a lovely pool and hearty breakfast. Kitchen available to make tea and coffee. Small market only 3 blocks away. 1 block to a street filled with street art.

Well maintained and vey clean property. Loved the crisp white sheets. Walkable to Zocalo and San Domingo. Pool was on the small size and a bit warm for my liking but very pretty setting. Breakfast staff were lovely but not a lot of variety in food. Also we did not find much in the immediate area for restaurants. Suggest having some snack and drinks available on site. Our check in was a little rough as we didn’t know how to access the property and it took a while till another guest came and let us in. We were standing the street in the dark for about 15 mins knocking on windows and doors to get attention.

We loved our stay at Casa de La Tia Tere!! It was beautiful especially the gardens and pool area. Pool was heated, a bonus when the evenings are a bit chilly. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was large and well appointed. The location is a bit out of the main centre but definitely within walking distance to downtown for anyone that can walk a few blocks. We will definitely return on our next trip to beautiful Oaxaca!!

The hotel was a gem. The pool area is absolutely gorgeous and a wonderful place to relax after a hot day exploring Oaxaca. Close enough to walk to the main attractions but on a very quiet street away from the chaos. Clean rooms, helpful service. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved location 10 minute walk to downtown, hotel is quiet and clean and spacious rooms. Did not like the beds the mattress was very firm to sleep for 7 nights ended up with soar/tender hips from such a hard mattress . The breakfast that was included was very bad staying at a state that is known for its food the hotel failed to show this. You could tell that canned salsa was used for the chilaquiles and the French toast used basic sandwich bread and were very tiny for an adult only two no bacon. Overall breakfast was very limited. Staff was polite but seems that owners focus on cost saving rather than guest experience. Won’t be returning to this hotel.

I highly recommend this hotel, the room was not large by US standard but adequate, spotless and the shower water as hot when needed which we very much appreciated. The staff was the best and the breakfast changed everyday with a choice of two dishes with a side plate of fruit and cereal, juice and coffee or tea. Loved the heated pool in the beautiful tropical garden, The hotel was not far from everything, in a safe neighborhood. A Wonderfull hotel for a good price. We would choose this hotel whenever we return.

Nice hotel, good location and good value. The pool is great for a sunbathe and cool down. Breakfast made to order is included which is great, it’s just a bit strange they make you clear away your own plates when you’ve finished. If you don’t they will let you know!

This place is great! The pool is so beautiful and green and the breakfast is great and it changes up each day. Giving 4 out of 5 stars because twice after room cleaning, the door was not locked. We told the staff both times.

A great choice in the Centro district of Oaxaca. The hotel is beautiful, and the grounds are very nicely kept. The pool and pool area were especially wonderful after spending the day out walking around the city. The breakfasts were excellent. The breakfast area is also really nice -- it sits on a terrace that looks over the pool and the verdant grounds; it's really pleasant. My particular room was small and tidy and pretty clean. All the staff I interacted with were very welcoming and helpful. I would stay here again, and I likely will the next time I am in Oaxaca.
