I would never stay here again. This is not a five star hotel. The rooms are beautiful but very small. There are no drawers or shelves so you have to live out of your suitcase. There is room for one carry on, another is simply in the way. Unlike other 5 star Japanese hotels who always have at least one English speaker on staff, they do not and communication is difficult. We endured the added insult of returning from 8 hours out of the hotel to our room undergoing cleaning. We wanted to wait in the lovely lobby and were told that we couldn’t and were escorted to the”guest lounge” which seemed to be a converted luggage area with room for 10 people and without even water available. They also offer a shuttle to the train station which is convenient because GO cabs cannot pick up at the hotel and other cabs take a while. We asked about reserving a set and were told it was first come, first serve and to show up 30 minutes ahead of time. This is not 5 star service. Again, there are much better hotels in Kyoto.
