I was genuinely surprised by this holiday inn. It was so clean and inviting. Property well maintained, a Starbucks in the lobby, well situated in the city centre! Will stay again!

A lovely clean hotel with just a couple of minus points. The breakfast was very mediocre, hard overcooked eggs, dry overcooked bacon and cheap sausages. No parking, but there is a multi story nearby that cost £18.80 for the night. That to me is expensive.

The room was really hot, it was a sunny day but the windows didn't open and no fans, no way of cooling the room down. There was black scuff marks of considerable size on one wall, everything else was clean. Also the TV didn't work, buffering and turning off intermittently, I rang reception about this and was told to turn off , wait 10mins then turn on which didn't work. Also at breakfast there was no sausage, bacon or eggs , they were refilled later but

Enjoyed the breakfast and staff service. Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Unfortunately the room was very hot and the air con would not stay on. I felt poorly due to the heat during the night - it was 23 degrees

We were looking forward to our 2 night stay but it was ruined as we were not informed that directly under our room there was a night club with live bands and music playing all night until 2am it was that loud they may as well of been playing in our bedroom I think we should of been told this when booking

Second time staying at this hotel. I love how quiet it is in the room. The cooked breakfast was fab with a great selection. The lobby area is huge & comfortable if waiting for someone. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again as excellent value for the quality.

The Sunderland Holiday Inn staff were wonderful. I had a bad fall at the theatre and when I got back they couldn’t have been more kind and helpful, especially Kieran. He offered to take me to A&E but I did not want to go. He bathed my wound and found a plaster for it. I cannot remember the name of the other receptionist but she was equally as kind and helpful. If there one downside, it was that the bedroom was very cold and had limited refreshments. Apart from that the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay immensely.

Great stay room warm and clean breakfast tasty and good choice. One slight criticism at 230 pm go to check in and told your room is ready but will have to pay ten pound early check inn fee challenged this and then told well if you join Holliday inn rewards I could check into my room which was ready for no fee obviously reception have been instructed to implement this 10 pound charge but why get somebody’s back up when checking in for the sake of ten pound poor.

The staff were exceptional. Noticing my birthday they gave me a little bottle of Prosecco. They advised us on how to get around, spoke to us about the area and what to see and do.

Everyone I met was always friendly, professional, and helpful. Chef Alan prepared wonderful meals and made adjustments per our personal tastes. He remembered all of our previous preferences. Alan is a talented and witty chef.

I was woken up at 8.30am by workmen in the next room. Nobody at reception when i checked out, so i couldn't leave my feedback. The cooked breakfast is woeful and its such a shame, as its a new hotel.

Clean, modern hotel with decent size room and good amenities. Staff were all helpful and friendly and the restaurant food was good. It's really well located, near to the metro and bus stations (we stayed for the great north run and it was easy to get to and from the start and finish). It's a shame it doesn't have its own car park but the one they use is only a few minutes walk and works okay.

Place is nice, staff are friendly. Food is terrible though. I had dinner in the restaurant and couldn’t eat my main (it was a salad, not sure how you get that wrong) and the starter was so over cooked the chicken wings were black and dry as a duvet. Breakfast is similar, overcooked eggs and fresh tomatoes that look like they’ve been dried out for preserving

Beautiful hotel, spacious room with huge shower. Lovely friendly staff. Lost a star for a poor breakfast unfortunately. Orange juice was definitely off - tasted sour. The of the cold juice canisters looked very dirty inside I think maybe the orange juice is topped up with fresh and the older juice still in is going off and sour as it was a cloudy colour too. I asked for some fried eggs with the yolk well done and they were inedible - all crispy mush. The bacon and sausages were not very well done and things just weren’t replenished quickly enough so that you could have everything together hot. The hotel and staff are fabulous though
