Check in was easy and pleasant. The wonderful lady at the front went a bit over and beyond finding us secure parking in the area as this specific hotel does not have its own parking. All the staff seem to be so friendly.

It worths the price. Very close to market and parlament. I would just be aware that it doesn't have parking, but for 30 or 40 you have a public one just besides to the building, and, unfortunately, between hotel and market, you'll find the street very dirty and with many homeless.

The bed were very uncomfortable, they are definitely not suitable for my husband he is a big muscular man! Also the parking is really bad not sure how safe our car was and we ended up having to pay $51 in parking for two days! There should be some kind of parking deal for people staying here

We always stay in student housing in summer. Friendly staff. Don't expect Hotel level service, for that stay in a Hotel. There is a parking lot next to the residence which has insane parking fees and timings.

Rooms were not as good as shown in the pictures, lights were pretty low, could not adjust the air condition through out the stay. Water was not coming properly from the bathroom basin and was making huge noise. Parking was mentioned at $10 per day but over night parking was much costly , had to pay nearly $50 for the parking for the whole stay.

Continental breakfast included, nice beds, desks , fridge and microwave was great. The property location was pretty close to everything. It has no parking which sucks and the parking lot next to it jas a terrible pricing system. My bf had to wake up at 12am and then 5am to top up the parking or risk getting towed. The property was definitely not in the best state. The sink had some damage and the waterflow due to the faucet was basically gushing. You had to only pull up the faucet handle a little bit. The shower head was not a stream but more like water falling from rocks. Giving globs of water. It still worked though and the bathroom had a wet towels that haven't dried in a few days smell. For what I paid, it was still pretty good.

I would not recommend at all. Staff were not friendly at all and room was not cleaned (empty Starbucks cup on floor). Our Air conditioner leaked so I used one of the towels to mop up the water. This was around 5pm. They sent someone at midnight and despite asking 5 times wouldn’t give me another towel. Finally next day their solution to the leaky air conditioner was to put a recycling bin under it to catch the water. We has service dogs with us and we were harassed about them after each shift change. Keys did not work, and the area is full of unhoused. Stay only if you can’t afford anything else.

The room was prepared in a rush. There were juice stains on the floor from previous guests, and it overall felt not clean. This was confirmed when I saw some cockroaches on the ceiling in the hallway. I had to ask for additional towels, which were handed to me without any real cleanliness protocols. My bathroom was broken in many ways, and several customers were complaining about their water not working in the lobby, with no refund option provided. Several things in my room were broken, smelt bad, and the TV did not work.

The hotel was conveniently located to attractions, shopping and public transit. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem was that the TV set was not working. But because I was staying overnight and was out most of the time, it didn't make a difference. And the continental breakfast was perfect.

Generally I would say it is good, clean and spacious, with basic hotel items. I am just wondering why one of the mattresses is firm, another one is too soft to sleep. And there is no electrical kettle in the room, which is not convenient with us.

First, things first, you have to understand, you get what you paid for. It's a downtown property for a bargain price. Deals don't get much better than this for convenience and price. With that in mind, it's not that bad for the price, considering it's located right in downtown Ottawa with lots of interesting places and endless choice of restaurants in walking distance. There's a parking lot beside the hotel entrance, but it's pay parking. As for the suite itself, it's old and there's wear on many things, though still usable. Never had deal breaking issues, just minor inconveniences. For minimal packers, they provide some tissues, towels, soap, bodywash, shampoo, and conditioner. Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Highly recommend packing slippers instead. Complimentary breakfast was alright too. It's no continental breakfast. There's your usual breakfast pastries, cereal, coffee, fruits, yogurt, juice, and there's practically no limit. I made like 3 trips from the buffet to my room with as much as I can carry and the staff didn't mind. Oops! I accidentally wrote an essay again. Anyways, if you have any issues like your flight or drive arriving past midnight, just call them and let them know, they let me in at like 4am.

The rooms are very basic but clean. The front desk ladies were amazing. Our television didn’t work, and I expressed that my partner would be working and I would be staying most of the time in the room and would need television. She had the technician come and look but couldn’t fix it. She then looked at their other properties and moved us to the property on campus, which was a two bedroom suite. She went above and beyond to accommodate me. Not to mention when we first got there it was 10:30, and she had us come back at 12 pm so we could check in early instead of at 4pm. The staff are amazing at this location and the campus location. Would definitely recommend both locations. The Rideau is right across from a lcbo so yes there are homeless people hanging out but they don’t bother anyone. The campus location was very safe.

The students manning the reception were excellent and very knowledgeable and client friendly. Room was in much better shape than I expected based on the reviews I read before I booked . Overall good experience for a budget concious client. May the city council should do a better job finding shelter space for the homeless around the residence.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days, and they only cleaned our room for the first time on the fourth day. That’s unacceptable for any hotel. There was no communication, no explanation — just bad service. I would not stay here again.

The first room we got was not good had a bad smell and A/C was not working, but the people were very nice and they made sure to change us to a new room which was a lot better, clean and AC working their customer service was very good overall a good place to stay downtown

I was woken by the hotel staff more than 4 times during the night starting at 1246 in the night. I couldn’t sleep during the night. There was water leaking and they kept on coming to take pictures of the room and look at the leakage. I should be refunded my stay as it was very disturbing.

The property is in a very bad area. There was open drug use on the sidewalk and people unconscious everywhere. The building seemed secure but it was inconvenient to get in after 10 pm because of the security measures. Housekeeping visited my floor everyday for the week I stayed but I don't think they entered my room. Fortunately it was just me and the room didn't require daily attention. The room was fine but very austere. The main issue was the area which was very sketchy.

Housekeeping visited my floor everyday for the week I stayed but I don't think they entered my room. Fortunately it was just me and the room didn't require daily attention. The room was fine but very austere. The main issue was the area which was very sketchy.

Property was fine. Staff helpful and the room was clean. The area around the hotel was dirty, lots of homeless people and drug use. It did not feel safe, even during the day.

It worths the price. Very close to market and parlament. I would just be aware that it doesn't have parking, but for 30 or 40 you have a public one just besides to the building, and, unfortunately, between hotel and market, you'll find the street very dirty and with many homeless.

Hotel très bien situé et propre. Petit déjeuné simple mais suffisant et pratique. Mais attention, c est bruyant, on entend beaucoup les bruits de l extérieur, matelas pas terrible et beaucoup de drogués/zombies autour de l hôtel. Prix correct pour un hotel de centre ville, personnel très sympathique.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Rideau Residence. The location is right downtown, the room was very clean and comfortable. It was great to have a fridge, private washroom and air conditioning. On the down side, the noise from the street is loud. I suggest keeping the AC on at night to mask the noise. It's also noisy when other guests are coming in late at night. There is ZERO sound proofing from neighboring rooms or the hallway. I would absolutely stay at the Rideau Residence again but I will never park my car in the sketchy lot next door. My car was broken into (window smashed) and belongs stolen. The residence is great but do yourself a favour and find some indoor parking elsewhere.

The location was excellent, very close to many downtown attractions, but the parking lot right next door had garbage strewn about and there were vagrants hanging about with their shopping carts. Even right outside the door to the hotel there were groups hanging about sitting or laying on the ground.

Everything was very basic as it is a dorm room. You can ask for a hair dryer. A lamp in the room would have been nice as the only light is when you come in. The room was quiet. Breakfast is very simple. The location is the best part. Walkable to many tourist places. Transportation from here was not great. There are food options close. Staff was friendly. For the price I would stay again.

The rooms were okay, if planning a budget trip it was a great place to stay. But bathrooms smelled a lot without using. And breakfast was all frozen stuff de frosted.

The hotel was conveniently located to attractions, shopping and public transit. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem was that the TV set was not working. But because I was staying overnight and was out most of the time, it didn't make a difference. And the continental breakfast was perfect.

My husband and I had a very good time staying for three nights at Rideau Hotel. The customer service was very good and the staff were very friendly. We really loved the breakfast and the nice and clean eating area. We really recommend it.

The hotel was nice and the location was convenient, but the breakfast was disappointing. The options were limited and the quality wasn’t as good as expected. Everything else about the stay was fine, but the breakfast definitely needs improvement.

Excellent location—within walking distance to Parliament Hill, ByWard Market, and the surrounding areas. The room was clean, and the staff were courteous and helpful. However, the breakfast had very limited options—only bread, cereal, muffins, and yogurt—and it was so crowded that we couldn't find a place to sit and eat.
