The location at the Amstel river facing the Amsterdam houseboats is very cosy and it‘s not too far from the town center either. Adjacent parking garage offers convenient parking options. Nice old building offering all comfort now being tastefully renovated. The staff is exceptionally friendly!

Excellent facilities. Loved the sweets and Prosecco freely available in reception. Room was good size. Bed really comfy. Spa and gym pretty decent for the size and price of hotel. Walked from central Amsterdam in about 35 minutes and very easy to navigate on the tram if needed

Historical building. We had the junior suite overlooking the canal. Spacious clean and comfortable. Pillows were a disappointment. Also floor waant too clean. Otherwise sercixe excellent.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pestana Amsterdam. It was clean with functional rooms were a big plus for us. We would stay again when back in Amsterdam-can't wait to be back. It is a bit far from all the attractions but we did not mind it. Quiet area with some stores and eateries around. Recommendations: have a ramp for suitcases or a porter for arrivals.

I recently stayed at this so-called 5-star hotel, but my experience was far from what I expected. Here are the main issues I encountered: \t1.\tNoisy Air Conditioning: The air conditioner was extremely noisy. When I raised this issue with the staff, they claimed it was normal. La struttura di interesse storico viene sfruttata nel massimo del suo splendore. Gli interni risultano confortevoli e la pulizia è espressa in maniera molto esplicita. Ho usufruito di diversi servizi offerti dalla struttura tra cui il servizio in camera, la palestra e la colazione internazionale. Tutto è stato di mio gradimento. Per finire ho trovato cortesia, gentilezza e molta cordialità in tutto lo staff. Definitely a nice place to stay. They are not big on checking in early. I visited in mid-July. Even when I returned to check in after, I had to wait and was given a room next to the elevator which is not ideal since it gets loud. Room was very clean and comfortable with black out curtains. No view. Same for my friend who stayed on a different floor - same room, different side, no view but nice room. Staff were on and off. Some friendly, some awkward. I really liked the location. I don’t like to stay in central areas. I prefer off center in clean and less touristy but nice more local neighborhoods. Lovely neighborhood. Ubers and taxis did take a while the 3x I tried during the weekend.

The property is fine, however I would not stay there again. No USB in the rooms and rooms quite basic. They had us on the ground floor 3 feet from the road, we had to upgrade and pay more.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. Our room was very comfortable and spacious for 2 adults and 2 big kids. It was quiet and we all slept well after long days of sightseeing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.

Had two nights at Pestana and even though the staff was very nice and kind, the room neat and somewhat large and at a prime location the stay was rather awful. I was “stored” at the ground floor behind the restaurant, meaning I had to pass through the breakfast buffet in morning and dining guests in the evening. Adding to this the room was extremely noisy. It was located under a staircase of some kind, and whenever someone was walking on this, the room was more or less shaking and scrambling. This, together with a rock hard bed meant less than zero sleep. I’m normally not picky and usually noisy environments doesn’t affect my sleep, but this was at another level. At check out I could understand on the receptionist that they normally don’t use the ground floor level rooms unless everything else is occupied. Would have been nice with this disclaimer up front. Definitely suggest you flag this when booking at this place; don’t settle for ground level rooms - let alone room 1008.

The rooms in the new section are spacious and modern, but the lighting is inadequate, and there is little surface space (such as desk or counter), just a small coffee table. Also, a bit off the beaten path for tourism, although there were some good restaurants nearby. Highly recommend Riviera Restaurant.

Upon checking my bank visa statement It appears charges are accurately done first . However, there were two unknown charges in my bank statement that can’t be reconciled with the receipt they printed out for me. A week after we are back from our cruise I wrote to the guest services to enquire about the extra charges, looks like they are in no hurry to answer my questions? Until now, I still have not received good explanation from them to resolve this issue, that I am charged over C$ 500.00! For two mysterious charges In my 4 days still stay. This is not an average hotel, for 4 days two superior rooms cost me over C$5000.00. Although I like the hotel, Pestana cannot randomly charge my visa like this. I am not happy about it! If they don’t give me a good explanation of that, I would say —beware of your visa bill. Don’t leave the front desk until they explain everything to you. Otherwise, a nice surprise will be followed later…just be careful! Keep all your receipts ! Now depending how they handle my situation that will determine if I would recommend or use this hotel in the future!! Thank you!

They did not have the booked room available at time of checkin, even hours after normal checkin time. Had to switch rooms. Room service food had things included specifically asked to exclude. They gave late checkout as ”compensation” but various employees kept calling to say I was staying after normal check-out time. At check out they had already charged me city tax etc on card from checkin without asking and without possibility to change the card. What a disappointment. The room had a great view over river Amstel from my room, but that was one of few positives. Choose a different hotel…

being in house 3 you need to leave the main building there is no description how to get there the elevator did not work, hence we were brought through the kitchen upon arrival at check out, the desk did not know where our luggage was, and I had to follow them in a youth hostel, why not but all in all very pleasant

We enjoyed Pekelhaaring.

The room was quiet and they were able to check us in early. However, it was raining when we arrived and there are stairs to the reception area and no one came to help us. Also, the restaurant did not open until 3 and had a very limited and expensive menu. This was the only option for food at the hotel.

Warm welcoming. Nice and cheerful staff. Ready to help reception desk. Clean room. Premium bed linen and towels. Breakfast could be better considering its price. Location is challenging. It is quite and peaceful area but not close to city center. 7 stops by tram (line4). Tram stop is 200m to hotel whereas metro stop is on the other side of the river and around 10 min away by walk. I would recommend Pestana Riverside Amsterdam hotel to everyone especially the ones who do not have time concern.

On the edge of DePijp but easy walk to trains and trams. Lots of food options close by. Safe, clean, lovely rooms has a pool. Nice walking along the river across the street Service was excellent. Really good size rooms for Amsterdam.

The hotel was beautiful and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was appalling and not worth the money, it was extremely expensive for what it was. Avoid the mini bar - its i s chargeable and hefty prices! There is only one carton of water each on arrival which doesn't get replenished during your stay. I asked for milk for the coffee at reception and was told they had none. For a 5 star hotel, it was not great and very expensive for a two night stay on the outskirts of Amsterdam

The hotel was not 5* quality as advertised. We stayed in one of the studios which is located in a different building, the studio was comfortable but needed more lighting in the sitting area. The glasses and crockery were mismatched. The breakfast was cold although there was plenty to choose from.
