The property, especially the exterior, is in a state of disrepair. There is a request in the lobby to make a donation to help repair and maintain the property. The check-in process was poor. We were told someone would greet us. We arrived at the 4:00 check-in to find ourselves and the others guests locked out and no one present. We called the provided phone. Although there were numbered lockboxes, neither couple was given a code to a lockbox. The individual on the phone initially blamed Expedia for not sharing our contact info with them and then claimed that it was our fault since neither couple allegedly responded to the hosts request for information (inconsistent with the first claim and false). After gaining accees to the house, I read the person the email I got the prior day from the host. The person literally hung up on me rather than respond. The only person I met was the woman who put out a mediocre breakfast and only because I went down early. Although it says breakfast is served 8 - 10am, a more accurate description is that it is set out on the table table at 8. The house is unoccupied and is not particularly clean (cob webs, dusty, musty smell). We ended up leaving a day early but there wasn't anyone to tell. Never met the Heidi who is referenced by others nor offerred any info about the history of the property. Overall a poor hospitality experience.

We had such a lovely stay. Many thanks to Heidi, who was there to greet us, answer questions, and cook the most delicious breakfast! We’ll be back!

It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful, historic old mansion. I have known of the Starrett House since the 1980’s, but getting to spend three nights there was a treat. The breakfasts each morning were great, and the hostesses are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

This facility needs management. There were no staff on site except for a breakfast person. The stairs leading to the rooms are very steep and totally unacceptable for seniors or out of shape people. We would never stay there again.
