Stayed 1 night

The beds are not sturdy at all, I was anxious sleeping on the top bunk. A lot of the outlets in the room did not work and keep in mind there is no AC inside of the room so I would not suggest booking this when it gets hot. If you are on a budget this is not bad for the price. It does smell like smoke in there because they allow it by the cafe so if you have small children I do not recommend.

Stayed 2 nights

I used a private room. Good size, had a wardrobe and comfortable bed. Air conditioning worked fine. Sheets and towels were clean. Staff was very friendly. I didn’t use the kitchen except to look for a bottle opener, didn’t see utensils. Shower etc was fine. Place looks quite used/run down, could use a refresh. Also, the wardrobe had a bag of towels from the prior guest? Walls were pretty thin and you could hear people in the halls quite easily, but other guests generally respected quiet hours. For the price, it was good. Great location with conbini and restaurants on the other side of the tracks.

2nd time staying in a hostel so comparing it to the past and mostly because of cleanliness. It’s a basic hostel. It wasn’t dirty, but definitely the room needed a sweeping and checking linens for left over hairs from previous guests. They seemed clean, just needs maybe a lint roll. It worked for one night.

Polite and helpful staff. Somewhat limited facilities but fine for how much you pay. The open floor plan of the first floor is pretty cold in the winter, so be sure to use your heating while you're in your room.
