Loved this hotel, excellent location, walking distance to many restaurants and attractions, free bottle water and snacks in our room every day. The staff was great, always pleasant and trying to help. The hotel has a good restaurant and bar. Highly recommend!

Easy walk to main area of Valletta and the ferry to the other side. Bus station is about a 10 minute walk. The street is closed to cars, so an uber or taxi will have to drop/pick-up at the bottom of the hill. Our room was large and the bed comfortable. Not a noisy area, so sleeping was easy. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door and was a choice of menu items. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel has lots of pros and lots of cons - it depends on what matters to you in a hotel. CONS: - The hotel wasn’t what we expected based on the reviews: much more worn than expected and not what 4star hotels usually are. - You have to drag your luggage up a steep pedestrian only street to access the hotel. Those with mobility problems need to be aware of this. - It was noisy at night as we were on the street side. It did get quieter around 11pm (later on Saturdays) and as it is close to St John’s Co-Cathedral there are church bells every 15mins all day and night. PROS: - Room was big - Staff were excellent - Breakfast was great: generous portions & a wide range of options (is menu based, not a buffet). - Hotel restaurant, Grana, is really good for dinner too. - Located very close (waking distance) to many main sites in Valletta. -Roof terrace was a good place to see the fireworks that took place when we were there. So our review is 3-stars as there were some really good things and some not so good things about this hotel.

We had an excellent stay at the Cumberland Hotel and found it offered high standards in all areas, including reception, room cleanliness and facilities, and a varied and delicious breakfast. We found all the staff to be extremely welcoming and friendly and were highly impressed by the speed in which a problem with a loose tap in our bathroom was dealt with. The hotel is located in a very central location in the beautiful city of Valletta and we really miss hearing the bells of St John's Cathedral close by. Our only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of sun parasols for seating on the roof terrace as the high temperatures prevented any possibility of relaxing there for more than a few minutes. An all round most enjoyable stay though.

Lovely stay for my partners birthday. The rooftop jacuzzi was a nice touch. Breakfast options were good. Quite noisy overnight from within the hotel itself. Room was a street facing room, but most of the noise came from things being moved around in the stairwell.

Noise could be heard in the room late evening and early morning which impeded a good night's sleep. The room needed some tlc - the deadlock on the room door didn't work, being misaligned with the frame. There was some cosmetic damage to the internal walls which looked bad but would have been relatively easy to repair. Also, found ants on the floor on several occasions. Overall the hotel was sold as 5 star but felt 4 star at best.

Let me start with a 'la carte breakfast: the selection and quality was very good. The hotel is clean and our room was fair size. The location is excellent - steps from the famous St. John's cathedral. You will have to take a few steps from the nearby street but it is very close. The hotel offers 24 hour front desk so we had no issue checking out in the middle of the night to catch our early flight. Someone mentioned mosquitos - indeed we had some in our room.

I bought the hotel through expedia. They gave us the worst room in the hotel. The room smelled very strong due to humidity, the walls and the bed were soaked due to humidity. Even though I told the reception that I couldn't breathe at night, they told me that there were no rooms with the same status and although they knew the condition of the room, there were only rooms in the upper category and that I could change by paying the difference and directed me to the same room.

The staff was one of the friendliest/most welcoming I’ve encountered. They were all so helpful and kind. My Maltese balcony was a dream, and the location was right in the heart of the hustle and bustle, which was mostly good — and any negative of that had absolutely nothing to do with the property. I would definitely recommend.

This property is on a walking street. It's super cute and super convenient to all that Valletta has to offer. That said, I booked a room with two beds. Because the hotel did not get the reservation correct, I was not able to check in for an additional hour--highly annoying.

We had an excellent stay at the Cumberland Hotel and found it offered high standards in all areas, including reception, room cleanliness and facilities, and a varied and delicious breakfast. We found all the staff to be extremely welcoming and friendly and were highly impressed by the speed in which a problem with a loose tap in our bathroom was dealt with. The hotel is located in a very central location in the beautiful city of Valletta and we really miss hearing the bells of St John's Cathedral close by. Very nice hotel, centrally located, big rooms, comfortable beds, big bathroom (and towels…) Stuff need to be more professional: the guy working at the evening didn’t know that there is a Christmas market, where it is and what are his opening hours (Valleta is not that big), we ordered breakfast to go (left the hotel early), was asked about what we want, when we checked out they told us they are sorry but they forgot to prepare the breakfast and there is no one there yet…

Easy walk to main area of Valletta and the ferry to the other side. Bus station is about a 10 minute walk. The street is closed to cars, so an uber or taxi will have to drop/pick-up at the bottom of the hill. Our room was large and the bed comfortable. Not a noisy area, so sleeping was easy. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door and was a choice of menu items. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel has lots of pros and lots of cons - it depends on what matters to you in a hotel. CONS: - The hotel wasn’t what we expected based on the reviews: much more worn than expected and not what 4star hotels usually are. - You have to drag your luggage up a steep pedestrian only street to access the hotel. Those with mobility problems need to be aware of this. - It was noisy at night as we were on the street side. It did get quieter around 11pm (later on Saturdays) and as it is close to St John’s Co-Cathedral there are church bells every 15mins all day and night. PROS: - Room was big - Staff were excellent - Breakfast was great: generous portions & a wide range of options (is menu based, not a buffet). - Hotel restaurant, Grana, is really good for dinner too. - Located very close (waking distance) to many main sites in Valletta. -Roof terrace was a good place to see the fireworks that took place when we were there. Let me start with a 'la carte breakfast: the selection and quality was very good. The hotel is clean and our room was fair size. The location is excellent - steps from the famous St. John's cathedral. You will have to take a few steps from the nearby street but it is very close. The hotel offers 24 hour front desk so we had no issue checking out in the middle of the night to catch our early flight. Someone mentioned mosquitos - indeed we had some in our room.

This property is on a walking street. It's super cute and super convenient to all that Valletta has to offer. That said, I booked a room with two beds. Because the hotel did not get the reservation correct, I was not able to check in for an additional hour--highly annoying.

The location of the Cumberland was really amazing. Right in the middle of the action of Valletta with close access to many restaurants, attractions like St.John’s Cathedral, Upper Barrakka Gardens, the famous St.Lucia street for alfresco dining, the waterfront & museums. SPAR the grocery store was just down the same street - which enabled us to get snacks, water, etc. We enjoyed staying in our suite with an upper loft portion. The main bus terminal is also a doable walk of about 10 minutes for bus access to Mdina. Both ferry terminals to Sliema & the 3 Cities were also within reasonable walking distance. We definitely would recommend a stay here if you are looking for a boutique style hotel centrally located.

Hotel staff are very friendly, especially manager Cole who gave us many good restaurant recommendations. Our junior suite is well appointed and very quiet. The hotel has a very good restaurant too and portions are ample. Breakfast comes with many tasty choices but service pace is a bit slow. If you are in a hurry in the morning,stick with simple baking goods.

Loved this hotel, excellent location, walking distance to many restaurants and attractions, free bottle water and snacks in our room every day. The staff was great, always pleasant and trying to help. The hotel has a good restaurant and bar. Highly recommend!

The hotel is close to Valletta centre, ferries and bus station. It’s a decent hotel but our room had an internal view so it was dark and the hotel flooring transmits sound very efficiently. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was bountiful but varied in quality.

Really enjoyed my stay here for three nights. Very well located within a couple of minutes of the Co-Cathedral. Staff all very friendly. Room was spacious with a great shower. Breakfast choices were good and tasty! Would stay again if back in Malta 😊

Perfect location for sightseeing, it was close to transportation (Ferries etc.) and a lot of great dining options. I found the staff welcoming and very helpful from arrival to departure. Also, the breakfast which is served at the attached restaurant was excellent with an array of options. I would definately stay at this hotel again.

Great location to explore Valletta. However, I had a terrible first night stay in room 101, ground floor. Bizarrely, the windows have shutters which do not open fully as there is a TV on the wall covering them? Also, even if you could open them to enjoy the courtyard view, there are no net curtains so everyone can see in. Therefore you have no choice but to be in unnatural light with no view at all. I was able to switch rooms for my remaining short stay. If you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you. Despite signs everywhere requesting quiet between 9pm and 8am, this hotel is very noisy with doors banging constantly. The Molton Brown hand wash and hand cream dispensers in the toilet do not contain Molton Brown products?
