Motel 6-Toms River, NJ

Rooms are very small for the price and internet wasn't working and I couldn't get stuff printed out.

There was no hot water. The floors were broken and I would never stay there again.Especially not when you pay for jacuzzi, and there's no hot water and they don't want to give you a refund when you want to leave right after you check in

Room was moderately clean/smelled like cigarettes/staff was very friendly/parking was easy, but the parking lot was very cluttered and filthy. It was full of trash and abandoned cars.

My husband and I arrived at the property, immediately immediately felt unsafe. The office area was filthy. Not a good sign. The office worker was behind bulletproof glass, red flag. The clerk spoke in a low mumbling voice. We could barely discern what he was saying. We gave him our credit card for the incidental fee. We specifically told him we were paying in cash and only wanted the incidental fee on the card as we had other bills coming out of the account. He chose not to listen, despite telling him several times, he charged our card the full fee for the room. He said he would return it but that obviously doesn’t happen instantly. It takes several days. So we had payments coming out the next day, with no money to cover them. We would be getting overdrafts now. Even with that issue, it was 10pm at that point and we just wanted to go to bed after traveling all day so we accepted the refund and agreed to pay upon checkout in cash after the refund hit our account. We got our key and went to our room. The room was horrifying. Not even close to the pictures online. It was the size of a prison cell. No bedspread or comforter. The wall was painted beige with patched white holes at least 2 feet in haphazard diameter. We practically ran screaming back to the office and told the clerk we would not be staying due to the condition of the room. We were unwilling to pay $120 a night for a nasty room. I managed to snap a few pics before we ran out.

The entire second floor smelled like cigarettes and they kept my security deposit. When I called to ask who checked my room the gave me the run around. I don’t smoke so it made no sense that they said my room smelled. This place is sketchy and they will falsely accuse you in order to steal your money.
