Sands of Kahana Vacation Club

Our vacation was wonderful but beware that there is NO AIR CONDITIONING at this resort. With the placement of our room we did not get any breeze through the windows either. So it made it very hot in our room. We had a hard time sleeping because we couldn’t cool down. Because of this we wouldn’t stay here again. If that doesn’t bother you, than it was wonderful. The beach was beautiful, pool nice and restaurant good. The employees were very friendly. Parking was difficult with a big vehicle but always found a spot. We had a 3 bedrooms and it was very spacious. It was definitely hard to leave the beautiful weather.

Great stay at the Sands of Kahana. The 3 bedroom condo was more than enough space and had a beautiful view. The property was beach front, had a nice pool, and fun activity courts for pickle ball and tennis. My family had a great time here.

Great place, very big condo, great food onsite, great pool everything about it was great

We did not like the cockroaches in the unit and the early garbage disposal pickup below our unit. The people are friendly, nice pool and hot tubs, clean beaches and lots of lounging chairs and space for all renters and owners.

Excellent stay for our family of five including one teenager. We enjoyed the beach, the pool, the restaurant, and the paddle board rental. Best part of our stay was the sunset views along with views of the whales!

Loved the size of the rooms and decor. The only negative were the pools could be better.

Our stay here was great! Right on the beach, can see the ocean from our balcony. Great restaurant on site and walking distance. Super easy parking. Kids loved the pools, beach and tennis court. Rooms and furnishings were clean and well maintaied. Highly recommend!

Loved the large, spacious 2 room unit overlooking the ocean. Easy beach access made for great snorkeling and gorgeous view. Elevator was a little slow and on site restaurant food could be improved. Overall wonderful stay. Lots of amazing restaurants to drive to near by.

Great pool and beautiful beach

The room assigned to us had too many bugs and rouches in all areas which made it a terrible experience for us on first day of a much awaited Maui vacation for us. The management took too much time and could not offer us an equal alternative. We were forced to check out early and I had to book another hotel for rest of the vacation.

Our first impression of the unit was this is beautiful. We had the loft unit which had a fantastic ocean view, sunsets were amazing. The pool and beach area was very nice and the on-site restaurant was a nice option. There is no AC in any of the units but really wasn't an issue because of the beautiful trade wind which blew through the unit to keep it comfortable. There was plenty of room for our whole family and plenty of kitchen utensils, plates and pans to cook meals. Each building had a bank of four grills which was nice option we used twice during our stay. Here is where the problem was, my daughter and husband found a curly hair in there shower on day one inspection. Day two they saw a cockroach in the loft bathroom. Called the desk to report the issue and they did send maintenance up to take a look, not sure what they did, my daughter said they weren't there very long and didn't ask where we saw the pests. Then the day after my 4 year old granddaughter screamed when she saw a cockroach making its way from the laundry area to the kitchen. I went to see what she was yelling about and there it was a inch and a half to two inches long. I dispatch that one and now we are on the lookout for them. Saw a number of small baby ones in the kitchen and then saw a medium sized one in the master soaking tub. Needless to say we all felt our skin crawling just thinking about it. We did mention it at checkout but they didn't apologize for the issue or offer us a discount either

Roach Hotel!!! Roaches in the kitchen and bathroom. Crawled into my toiletry bag. Made sure to pack carefully didn’t want to bring them home with us. Yuck!!

Outdated, no housekeeping when asked, and No AC! Very uncomfortable all week.

The Manager was the only thing that was acceptable and appreciated, we where promised a ocean view room, the only way to see the ocean was got outside to the balcony and looking out to see the ocean, the biggest problem and the worst, COCKROACHES, the room we where given was infested with them, I’m talking around 15 or so within the hour, this was gross and disgusting, Please please be aware, the staff are rude and unprofessional, I can’t believe this place is open for business, there is no AC, the bathrooms don’t have actual doors that lock, But from being from a Island I can’t handle that but a infestation of Giant Roaches no way, the manager was professional enough to agree for a full refund, even though i still don’t have the money yet in my account I got confirmation, we checked out the same night and made reservations elsewhere, the Sands stated the roaches where normal and there is nothing they can do, I’m sorry I have never stayed somewhere where there was a infestation. Please be aware, this place does not have even deserve 1 star. I am surprised the DOH, hasn’t done anything yet about this.

Bed bugs bit everyone. Hallway little bit noisy. Rain leaks from by the windows.

Need to be more clean alot of cockroaches in the kitchen

Property was very old and maintained badly saw few cockroaches crawling. Couldn’t lock the bathroom door. When we called the front desk, they have sent few people to look into it and they couldn’t fix it. The maintenance person said it will be fixed the next day and nobody showed up for the days. Some lights were not working. The fridge was leaking. Couldn’t close the sliding doors in the living room. Overall the property was poorly maintained.

This property is an average resort but comes with full fledged condo units with everything you may need. The big missing element is the AC. I didn’t know they don’t have AC and literally we all had to struggle days and nights since it’s very hot and humid atmosphere. The property itself is very old and may be individual unit owners might have done some kind of upgrades for some units. We were seeing lizards and small cockroaches in the unit as well. Not sure when was they last time they did pest control for those units. Other than the above short-comes, the property is managed by in house property management which has a front desk available 24x7, in house concierge desk who help book some nice excursions, very attentive and caring staff who listen and address any concerns immediately. They provided floor fans to help us fight the heat a bit and repaired everything we reported daily. But certainly being on vacation we shouldn’t be repairing the vacation home units everyday for one or the other reasons. They sure give you a full service hotel like feel by providing you towels linens or anything you need during your stay. There is no housecleaning but you will have everything you need to keep the unit and kitchen clean. Kitchen was really helpful if you can cook atleast once in a while considering the very less options for food around here. They have a decent size beach which was clean and we all could play without driving to other beaches. They have got in-house restaurant too.

Location amenities and view were good. Rodents eating some of our bread and fruit was an unpleasant surprise. Dishwasher didn't work initially but they promptly fixed it.

The room is super BIG with kitchen, living room and two bathrooms. Perfect for 2+ people.

The property needs some updating, but for the space location, and price point, it’s great. We were a party of 8 adults in the three bedroom and thought the large space and beautiful views well outweighed any cons (some updates needed). The hall closet stocked with extra towels and toiletries as well as the washer and dryer made our stay so much easier. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed as well. Would return!!!!

The pictures on Hotels.com do NOT do it justice. Our unit was at least 1000sq.ft with full kitchen, dining, three bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 porches. Ocean view. My family cannot wait to stay here again! I cannot say enough great things about it. The living room was huge and our view was fantastic.

We had 2 units, 1 group of 7 and a group of 6…the units were way bigger than we pictured & had all the amenities you could want! Would highly recommend for families and larger groups! Two bathrooms, laundry in the unit, dishwasher, coffee maker, fridge, blender, toaster, the list goes on

The staff was nice. Captain jacks was really good. Rooms were extremely hot. No A/C. Some of the fans didn’t work. Property was clean but rooms were very very dated. Emma, the concierge, was AMAZING!

I liked the size of our dwelling and the ocean view is phenomenal!!

We stayed here 20 years ago & again this year. We stayed 3 weeks. It’s great having 3 bedrooms. No air conditioning was a bit of a concern, but plenty of fans were provided & we were comfortable. The unit was a bit dated, but well maintained. The unit supplies were ample. The beach furniture could use some updating, but we were still comfortable. The restaurant is good. And we weren’t bothered by staff like some places do. Overall it was a good stay.

Rooms are very spacious and have great view.

Fantastic stay. The place was much bigger than we thought it was going to be, which was a plus. Came with full amenities. The only down side was - we knew the place didn't have AC - so it did get a little stuffy during the day, but at night it was totally fine.

Very friendly staff members and very beautiful property

Property is outdated. The beach side is a very small area. Was verbally promised and noted to have an ocean view room for honeymoon and did not receive that because they were unavailable when I checked in. Ended up leaving earlier than reserved for.

instructed the front desk to contact a manager as I wished to speak to them twice when a random guest was able to open our locked down with the key card. Still waiting to speak to a manager after 3 days. Would NEVER stay here again.

The unit is spacious, and full kitchen helps with a family of five. Issues we did have were resolved immediately, and staff was amazing!

This is a great place for a quiet get away. The beach being right out side was a great extension to the property. The staff were exceptionally helpful with any inquiries that we had and helping us book outside excursions. Definitely a place we will go back to one day very soon.

One word, RAT, we stayed here and woke up on our first morning to a RAT on the kitchen counter (and not a small one) this sucker was at least a foot in length-it flew across the counter towards my daughter and dived under our dishwasher. The service at that time was terrible- no one did anything for at least two to three hours until management arrived at 8/8:30…also no air conditioning- I was so stressed for my children as rats carry siseasss and worried the entire trip. They covered some of our grocery costs and a sands to come here with our family and to find a rat was truly stressful and disgusting I feel like more could’ve and should’ve been done to help us feel comfortable. meal at the restaurant, in all honesty we spent thou

Our family enjoyed our stay at sands of Kahana. I was pleasantly surprised that our room was equipped with all the necessities. I would highly recommend staying here. Staff were courteous and friendly.

Nice 3 nights stay, very close to the beach. convenient store nearby also short drive for more selection of snacks. Condo is clean, and nicely decorated, full kitchen access but we didn’t use much, we’re mostly outdoors exploring anyways. We liked the pool and beach access are just opposite. Many beaches connected to Sands of Kahana beach shore. Some renovations going on but not bothersome. Washer and dryer in the unit is a plus.! Would have stayed longer but needed to explore the south side of Maui island.

Very close to beach and clean. Kitchen had everything I needed. Safeway grocery store is about 10 minutes drive. Location is a bit remote to travel and see the other half of the island.

I enjoyed the stay and the fact that the kitchen was fully equipped and I enjoyed the activities like pickleball etc. The rooms were beautiful and had a great view and liked having a kind of sectioned-off portion to the beach so it didn't feel crazy crowded. The only thing that kind of bothered us was the fact that there was no A/C-only fans. Once we opened the windows/doors and cut on the fans the heat wasn't as bad. Overall a beautiful place and would stay again.

We loved the ocean access and the beach! Rooms were clean. We wish they had air conditioning though! We also wish the Beach House had colder beer at happy hour!

Water in shower / bath smelled of too much chlorine. Water at Beach Club grill tastes of too much chlorine , could not drink it. Lunch , Monte Cristo was absolutely terrible. Our view from our Maui Paradise room was a cement parking lot. Management was non responsive to any of my personal requests. Very disappointed with Sands of Kahana :(

Friendly hotel staff. Loved having the Beachhouse restaurant and bar be part of the property. Everyone was incredibly hospitable and loved the relaxed vibe!
