Homewood Suites by Hilton Ottawa Downtown

For a hotel of that size, two elevators is inadequate. Long delays in the morning especially with luggage. Wasted cupboard space in the kitchen because of the position and size of the microwave. Otherwise the 1 bedroom suite was very spacious. Even with lots of kids staying in the hotel, the room was quiet. Would stay again. Easy to exit to the highway or over to Gatineau.

A lovely, clean hotel - only good things to say about our stay, with one important exception- parking. The hotel parking garage can only accommodate vehicles measuring under 5’7”. We had to try and find offsite parking which proved expensive and we worried about the security of the vehicle during our stay.

Parking was easy, We didn’t have a problem getting the EV charging station. Hotel was clean and nice from the lobby to their rooms.

Gereat hotel nice pool and very good gym

The hotel looks great and has friendly service at the front desk. The highlight was definitely the amazing pool for the grandkids and the fitness centre which I used throughout my stay. I definitely plan on coming back to this hotel when I am on Ottawa again! The breakfast was an extra treat as well! Well done!

We always love our stay here. The suites are big and well priced and the breakfast is really good too. They allows pets which is awesome. The pool is big and warm. Kitchen is useful and on site laundry too. Cons: Garage only has clearance for cars 5'9" and under. Beds are a little soft

Amazing walkable location. Pool, gym, free breakfast were great. Parking garage entrance is really low 5’9” so be careful renting a larger vehicle as it might not fit.

We stayed 4 nights as a family. We very much enjoyed our stay, nicely maintained clean hotel with the most friendly staff. Everyone we encountered were very professional and kind. Kids really enjoyed salt water pool (the real pool with actual depth!). Hubby and I enjoyed well equipped exercise room with Peloton! We loved the location as it was close to major attractions including downtown area. We will definitely be back again.

Great pool, clean rooms, great stay with kids! Only issue is 2 elevators for the building so a long wait if you need to bring luggage down during busy times, like in the morning!

The breakfast buffet was nice. No hot tub that I could find. No smart TV in my room. Pillows were squishy. Room was very clean and bed was comfy. The kitchenette was welcomed. Room was very cold and temperature controlled. Lots of eating and drinking options in the area. Within walking distance of many scenic areas

Staff and clean room

For context, I travel for business and pleasure monthly and frequently stay at Hilton hotels. This was a personal trip for 4 nights to visit family and I had my daughter with me. What I liked about the hotel is the large room, soundproofing seemed good, full kitchen (although we did not really use it this trip), exercise facility (large and lots of equipment for strength and cardio), and proximity to attractions and public transport options. The restaurant was pretty good overall, fast, and convenient. Some issues which made me score lower: there was hair in the shower when we arrived, the tissue box was empty and never refilled, and the swimming pool facilities (the pool itself was a good temperature and just long enough to do some reasonable laps - but there were no change rooms (very odd) and no hot tub).

Fresh breakfast and lots of menu items to choose from. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was helpful and friendly! Would stay again.

The service was perfect and the staff so nice. I would definitly come again. The only thing, there was a lot of black curly hair all over the carpet in the living room and on the sofa. So that was a bit of a downer.

Room was not very clean (bed sheets and towels). Breakfast didn’t have many options.

Shampoo and conditioner we empty, you would think for the price you pay the hotel could spring for some 2 ply toilet paper. We went to pull dishes out of the dishwasher and they were still Filthy

The room was lovely with a great location. The shower wasn’t great though. The water was chilly and the shampoo and conditioner were empty. Great room experience, poor bathroom.

Stayed at Homewood Suites Ottawa for Father’s Day weekend. The property is renovated and nice looking. Pool and fitness area are very good. Buffet breakfast was very good with lots of options (and surprisingly great coffee!). Our one bedroom suite was very spacious for my husband, me and our young adult son; however, a couple of things were not ideal: 1) our suite had only one bathroom. 2) the one bathroom was only accessible via the bedroom (!) 3) the sofa bed in living room is in desperate need of a better mattress. When the bed was pulled out, you could feel the metal bedframe easily when you pressed down on the mattress. Maybe ok for little kids. After one terrible night trying to sleep on it, my son ended up making the sofa up as a bed without pulling it open. 4) the weather was perfect but none of the windows open. (Not management’s fault of course) We found the suite stuffy even with HVAC running. Overall a decent hotel with the a few pros and cons to be expected!

Room clean and spacious. Good amenities. Decent breakfast 🍳 Good table to work on for laptop. Good staff. Nice 👍 people. Will be back.

Overall a nice stay. Room is big with kitchenette even though we didn’t use it. Staff is great. Daily room service. Breakfast is basic but adequate. Only one thing is not great that only one elevator works which creates chaos for checkout.

Average stay. Clean and comfortable room. You have to pay for wifi.

2 night stay for work Excellent location. Spacious suite with everything you need. Definitely will stay again *Only downside - television do not offer streaming options or even casting options which makes for a poor evening entertainment.

Rooms are big

The room was fine but far from inviting and comfortable. I was disappointed with the room location because I had asked for a quiet room away from elevators. That was my only request, not a high floor or river view or anything else. At check in, I was assured that the room was consistent with my request. While it was not the first room across from the elevator, it was the very next one. When I went in, I found the dresser drawers open and quickly surmised that this was their natural state. The AC was very loud and, as seems to be usual, the gust from the vent was aimed largely at the bed. This time the air flow was so forceful as to blow papers off of the desk. There is no counter space in the vanity area. The tv faces the bed and there is not enough room to pivot so that you can watch from the sofa. The kitchen didn't have a kettle or measuring cup so I made tea by boiling water in a pot. A pitcher for the fridge would have been nice as no cold water came out of the kitchen tap. There was little gluten free at the breakfast - just whole apples/oranges and yogurt cups. After some awkward inquiries, I was offered gluten free toast. I don't like the policy of not being able to take food to the room (unlike most other hotels) as I like to catch up on work in the mornings and it is a pain to have to set up with my laptop in the breakfast room.

We loved our stay, we checked in through an app. So we didn’t have to go to the front desk except when we got our parking pass to allow us to come in and out. The Lobby was beautiful. When we got to our room, we were impressed with the layout. They truly get families! We appreciated the kitchenette! A full fridge, microwave and stove top helped us save on food costs and any inconvenience of going out to find food. Our only thing we did not enjoy: 1. Waiting for the elevators. It could be up to 15 min wait each time. 2. The pull out couch bed was worn out and not comfortable. 3. The parking was a huge disappointment. There was no warning about the height of the pipes. So when I reversed into a spot, the pipes damaged the top of my vehicle. Also as the pipes were low, I had to pull out to open the back doors to take out luggage. Other than that, we highly recommend!

The daily breakfast that was included was excellent and a wonderful way to start each day. During our stay, my wife became very ill after eating dinner at a different establishment. The staff at Homewood Suites went above and beyond, helping me identify an emergency department that could properly treat her. Their care, concern, and quick assistance made a stressful situation far easier to manage. This team surpassed all of our expectations. Their professionalism and kindness made a lasting impression, and we are deeply grateful for the experience we had here. We would not hesitate to stay again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ottawa.

Rooms are not sound-proof

I didn’t get the wake up call I requested. When I requested something, it took 2 hours. They need more staff.

The rooms are nicely renovated. The staff was less than average.

The Hotel is very well located! There's a supermarket in the other side of the street, and some restaurants very nearby. The Service was also great, since the Check in till the cleaning staff, everyone very gentle and ready to help! I highlight Miss Jhennifer, from the front desk, she was extremely kind with us and helped several times during our stay!

The property is clean and staff are friendly and breakfast is good but with limited time frame. However, we requested for room cleaning for the 2nd day, the receptionist mentioned will send somebody upstairs to clean the room, but when we are back nobody cleaned the room. We called again at the evening time same day for exchange the bedsheet , and bring two towls, the receptionist agreed, but nobody brought anything for us. I never had this experiences in any hotel so far.

Wonderful staff - very accommodating and kind, as always. This is my preferred hotel in Ottawa. I will be back!

Unfortunately, our stay was ruined by a fire alarm that sounded due to a technical error by the maintenance staff of the hotel at 1:30 AM. Having to evacuate a toddler at 1:30 in the morning was not pleasant. Afterwards the staff had difficulty stopping the alarm, so we had alarms flashing and sounding for over half an hour in our rooms so we could not sleep. The lack of sleep affected our actvities for the day, and made the drive home afterwards dangerous due to lack of sleep. Unfortunately they refused to refund the stay. In my opinion when booking a hotel you are paying for a comfortable stay and a good night's sleep, and in this case the service was not rendered. So I am unsatisfied with my stay and would not return.

Checking in was hard, I couldn't understand the parking and the desk lady was rude and never ended up telling me how to use the parking pass properly, the parking gentleman did, once I was locked out with my kids. Three of the breakfast staff was so ignorant, one lady snapped at this poor little girl when she ask, 'when you get a sec, there is no cereal left, please '. The lady response was, don't you see how busy we are, your going to have to wait, I can't do it all Unfortunately the best part about our stay was the room and other guests helped us more than most staff. The best staff was the evening staff, so friendly. The morning staff....horrible!

Location downtown was perfect to be in walking distance for main sites such as Parliament Hill and the ByWard Market. Access to the hotel would have been easy had it not been for unexpected road closures due to Canada Day celebrations. A small note either on the hotel site or pre-booking email advising you to simply speak with a police officer showing your reservation would have saved a couple loops around the block. Even with that, the stay was very pleasant and would definitely recommend to anyone planning to visit downtown Ottawa.

Great location

Clean room, very friendly/ helpful staff, warm and clean pool, comfy lounge area in pool, grocery store right across the road was VERY handy for snacks and a cheaper dinner.

The disadvantage is that there are not many places to eat around.

Great stay! We really enjoyed our time at Homewood Suites by Hilton in Ottawa. The place was super clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast had a nice variety of food, and the location was perfect—walking distance to lots of restaurants and stores. Would definitely stay here again!

Close to Parliament and other historical/ tourist attractions, my family and I enjoyed every moment in Canada. The amenities at this location are perfect for a family / couple stay, and the proximities of the stores and banks make it quite convenient too.

Good value but not a lot in the area, the sidewalk closure on Lyon makes it seem even more cut off. Long wait times for elevators. Breakfast was very good, staff are friendly and all the little extras (hot chocolate in the lobby etc) are a nice touch.

All services are excellent, except for their Breakfast buffet menu. We stayed two nights, and all food items are same breakfast for two days. Expecting that few menu should be different everyday.

Cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast.. food selection was limited and cold. Underground parking was not conducive to our vehicle and most likely a majority of SUV’s and trucks vehicles.

The breakfast buffet is the same every single day of the week - and is weak in terms of gluten-free (including mislabeled items - flour tortillas are not gluten free / little effort to avoid cross contamination. Otherwise, great option. Good size rooms.

Overall very good, breakfast is excellent for a free hotel breakfast, though if I was paying the $21 some guests were I might feel it’s overpriced. Location is good. Would stay again

Hotel was clean and comfortable. The "buffet breakfast" was not as seen in photos. The foot traffic around the area made it a uncomfortable feeling of being over crowded. The condiments were very slow to be replenished and food choices were not great. On Sunday a gentleman got down at 9:55 and the food was gone and doors were shut. It was served 7-10 but they did not offer him even a muffin or coffee. The food was being taken away at 9:45 which I thought was horrible service. I felt bad for him. I would stay here again because of being so convenient to downtown area. Hopefully next time the food will be better.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean. The building is located in a great area in downtown Ottawa. The bar/restaurant closing early, so be prepared to have food or grab something before arriving if you check in late. I had to do UberEat. Will be nice if breakfast had more choices of fruits, and more quality choices of food. Overall i recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed our two night stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette had everything we needed. The breakfast on both days was great and plenty of seating even when it was busy. We ordered dinner from the on-site restaurant and brought it back to the room. It was prepared quickly and the food was delicious. The only thing I would say about the restaurant is if you want a coffee to go, make it in your room. We should have asked the hotel for an extra coffee pod. We were charged the price of Starbucks and it was a super small coffee. We will start bringing a few K-cup pods with us going forward.

Breakfast was disappointing. Coffee was self-serve which was ok once you figured that out BUT it was weak AND bitter and mugs small that were meant for saucers with no saucers. Cream in those little capsules that spilled everywhere - lots was needed to dilute the bitter coffee. Scrambled eggs were unappetizing, and sausage was a big slice of wiener. Fruit limited to whole apple orange or banana. Long lines for making toast or waffles - especially on thanksgiving Monday - staff were attentive and did their best.
