Awesome hotel and great location right on the Bay. The restaurants in the hotel were great and I highly recommend the rooftop restaurant, Seneca. The gym was larger than most hotel gyms and had a great cardio area with a small dumbbell area that went up to 50lbs. The only downside was that the pool was really small. I’ll definitely be staying again the next time we come down to SD!

Intercontinental (and it is the same for others of this brand), do the spectacular well, but let themselves down with some basics that travellers want. In this case the pool is small and nothing more than a dipping pool, the location and type of internet connection points are away from the beds, not c connectors and cannot all be used at same time. Room cleaning came early and more often kept leaving notes that unable to enter room. Restaurant options are good but expensive, even for breakfast. Business centre printer was not working. On the positive, the staff were fantastic and could not help more on what were probably mundane requests. A special mention to Maria, who went out of her way to assist. The hotel itself is excellent location and has fantastic views of San Diego. When you take all these factors into account and consider the price and value for money it is difficult to move the dial beyond a 3/5.

We recently stayed for a week at the property. The staff were very nice, full marks on their friendly service. If I had to share one thing that bothered me is the usage of the pool. In the room on the tv, the hotel info states "24 hours". We figured it was an error because we had never seen that before. By the pool I believe there was a sign that stated it was open until 10pm. But the fact was it closed at 6pm. Now, this hotel has a HIGH resort fee at close to $50 extra per night. We expected to be able to explore the city during the day and have a cool dip at the end of our day. Now, right across the way at the Springhill Suites, they have the pool open until 10pm and it was a big downer looking across and seeing their guests enjoy the evening and we were out of luck. Servers, bar open, I think they were even playing some sort of trivia game with their guests. We felt a bit jealous. I can't believe we were the only ones disappointed or even annoyed by this.

Great location, beautiful hotel, awesome gym. I just wish they did not charge high fees and give “credits”. Seemed a bit of a marketing ploy to upsell their services, e.g. up to $60 credit only for the buffet breakfast. It did not cover the whole tab. Please just bundle it in to your total nightly package cost & simplify the process. Otherwise great experience! Thank you!

For this fancy of a hotel, I expected the rooms to be cleaner and not have a damp smell. I did ask for a different room, and they gave us a different room on the same floor, unfortunately the smell was the same. My brother was staying at the same hotel and his room didn't have any weird odor (different floor). The bartenders at Vistal are so kind and friendly. The room had a lot of dust in the bathroom and old candy wrappers and dust in the closet. Other than that, rooms are great, view is nice, and the location is awesome.

Experience was going well until the last night when we came back from all day out. We left the room in the morning with the housekeeping service light on to come back and find the room at 9pm dirty. We call front desk for the service that did not come, after 20 minutes we went to the front desk the encounter MICHAEL the most careless unapologetic clerk that did not care for our situation. When I asked him to talk to the manager he said he was the manager and that he just got in , that he did not know what was going on and that he was the one that took my call earlier. When I told him “no explanation nor apology he said that if they did skip the room he would get back to us. Total BS ! The problem was not that they did not clean the room , these can happen in any hotel, but the attitude, poor service and no manners nor apology from the improvise rudimentary (at most) manager was what made the whole experience a bad one.

This is a noisy hotel. You get aircraft noise all the time. Also the plumbing or perhaps the heating system screeches all day and night. The e-car chargers in the garage didn’t work all the time we were there and hotel staff said they couldn’t do anything about it. We had to pay $40 to park in a building a few blocks away, plus the charging fee, on top of the parking fee at the Intercontinental.

Spent 5 days and 4 nights at the Intercontinental. The location is great, but the quality of the rooms not so much. My room was incredibly humid every day - to the point that the box of legos became soft overnight. Would not stay at this hotel again. Disappointing to say the least.

The harbor view was not as promised by room description and check in staff. I looked out at another building/brick wall. If I stood at the window and craned my neck I could see the water but view from anywhere else in room was a brick wall. It was a disappointment.

Room, property and staff are excellent however the sofa bed was a joke. We stayed in a suite which was over 1k a night. It stated sleeps 4. There were 3 of us. One king bed for 2 of us. The third had to sleep on the sofa bed. It was terrible. Could feel the spring poking in your back all night. Ive stayed at many hotels with sofa beds. This is by far the worst. Wont stay again if need to use a sofa bed. Disappointing for such a nice property.

The property was very clean and conveniently located. The gentleman at check in was very nice. I paid for parking when I booked the room. They charged me for it again when I checked in.(they did remove once I explained I had already paid it) At breakfast, our server went on her 30 minute break, no one else served us. We had to ask a busser for more coffee. Then we got a dirty look when we asked for our check from the person that was covering for our server. At checkout, they charged us for parking again and then when I said the resort fee was incorrect, the manager made me pull up my receipt to prove the price was incorrect. It was a $3 difference. I wouldn’t normally make a big deal, but at this point, everything else was stacking up.

For what I expected to be a very high end property this place is disappointingly average. The customer service was actually poor. The front desk staff was unprofessional (horseplay behind the counter between agents while I was waiting) AND then not really good at getting through the checking in process. The agent did not explain the hidden fees and completely messed up my email address. While they were very pleasant their capabilities seemed like a lack of proper training issue. The room is nice, but nothing more than nice. The room is a bit bare…I have stayed at much lower rated places that were much nicer.

We reserved 2 night with free breakfast for 2 through Expedia. However, after returning home, we were surprised to find a few charges on my credit card. When called your hotel, we were told that one charges are all for breakfast: - you charged full cost of breakfast for one day - for the other day, you charged the difference between the full cost of breakfast and $60 / room credit. Outside of being wrongfully charged for one breakfast, we were not told that our free breakfast reservation was actually only $60/room credit at either check-in, in the restaurant, or checkout. Although the you refunded the charge for one day at the call (we still had to pay for the difference for the other day), we do not expect the lack of transparency at a hotel of your reputation. The fact that the breakfast buffet costs way higher than the $60 credit make me feel that we were tricked.

My second time staying at an Intercintinental IHG property and I must give high praise to all staff from the valet, the bellman, the Manager, Bar staff, and others that just smiled and went on about their business of taking care of other guests. Right across from the USS Midway, a stone's throw from Little Italy, overlooking the water. Also only a short drive from the airport but without being in the flight path. Inside the building it's everything you want/expect from a 4-star hotel as well.

Room service took fofever to come but did a good job once they came. Gym is excellent. The resturant was OK but very pricey. It would be nice to use the daily credit for room service vs having to go to the dining area. All areas were clean, room was really dusty! Wish the pool wss bigger but its Ok!

We arrived a few hours before the check-in and they wanted to charge us a fee. I told them I would leave the bags at reception until we could check in and finally they gave us the room without charging us (thank you). You have to take 2 elevators to get to your room from the parking lot. Room very clean and comfortable. Even if the breakfast is included, they actually give you a certain amount of dollars to spend in the menu ($30) and you must pay the difference (with one drink and one food plate you are going to pay a difference). Food is good and they give you options in case of food allergies. They charge you at the hotel an amenity fee (50 more dollars per day). I asked why they charge you this but never received an answer. The parking costs 46 dollars per night.

Great stay, excellent hotel, beautiful location--15 min walk to convention center. The resort fee seemed excessive. $50 a day for... internet? They did return $22 a day if we spent more than that at the hotel bar, but still. Also, our room came with breakfast (up to $60), but then they charged $6 for coffee, $8 for juice, and we tipped on the $60 credit, but they still billed $10 to the room for the tip?

The hotel is newer, clean, and boutique style. The staff upon check-in was not exactly welcoming or friendly, but overall went smoothly. The standard rooms do not come with a fridge, so it needs to be requested for a fee. Additionally, their parking garage in the building is an extra fee at nearly $50/day, which is one of the priciest in the area. We did eat at the restaurants, and their claim to fame is the rooftop restaurant, Seneca Trattoria. Of course, it is not included as one of the restaurants where you can use your daily credit from the additional and required "amenity fee," and you absolutely need a reservation to get in. It was beautiful dining at the top and the food was good, but not the best Italian food I've had. Finally, I requested twice for our toiletry items such as shampoo and body wash be refilled, because for some reason, they were low when we checked in. I requested it on the second-to-last night of our stay, and the front desk assured me it would be filled while we were out to eat. Upon arrival that evening, it was not done. The next day, I saw housekeeping and requested a refill, which they said they would do, and did not. We did not have enough body wash or lotion for our final shower. I found it odd, since this is a luxury hotel. The hotel is right by the public transportation train station, so that is convenient. Overall, it was a nice experience, but after touring the area, I believe there are equal value options with more "bang for your buck."

It is a clean, modern hotel directly on the waterfront. Close to ferries and the USS Midway Museum. Spacious room and the bathroom was great. The negatives: Breakfast was either hot buffet for $46 per person or cold continental for $29 per person. These are outrageously high prices. A la carte was not an option. Breakfast for two people costs about $115 with gratuity. Also, the room fridge is fully stocked with items for pay, leaving no room in the fridge to put your own water bottles. I was afraid to touch any of the items for fear I would be charged. Lastly, the bed comforter kept us too warm for San Diego summer nights, no matter how much I turned up the AC. A lighter blanket makes more sense.

We upgraded to corner room with wrap around view. It was great. The buffet breakfast was not worth the money charged. No cereal selection, no fat free milk, and no omelettes.

Had a bad experience with the food service department within the hotel felt like the Server or food advisor named David was not very kind nor very accommodating. We ended up spending a lot of money on the upper top floor restaurant and that was amazing, but as we went to the third level floor, we just felt like the quality of the service felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable. That ruined the main experience of the day or else everything would’ve been amazing. This is also the first time I ever stayed at intercontinental and visited the USA.
