Friendly staff. Room seemed newly decorated, not overly big but king size comfortable bed, nice bright bathroom. Only downside was ill fitting curtains which caused sunlight to enter bedroom a bit earlier than necessary! Not a major complaint - maybe blinds would work better. Parking could be a problem, spaces for around 10-12 cars, first come first served. On a busy main road through Pitlochry so only half hour parking available there. We did find a side street a short walk away where we parked safely overnight. Breakfast had plenty choices, served to your table by friendly staff.

McKays is not so much a hotel as a pub complex with rooms. Our room was excellent, quite newly decorated with a great bed and a good TV. It did overlook the compressors for the pub equipment in the yard so if it's warm and you want the window open it's a bit loud. Otherwise the room was great, bathroom and shower were excellent. There is a very small car park so don't rely on getting your car in, and on-street parking nearby is difficult. There are public car parks nearby which are free from 6pm to 8am. Location is really excellent, right in the centre of Pitlochry. Staff didn't seem terribly happy. There is a residents entrance which gets you out towards the back of the place and the car park but there's some sort of drain which means you're always stepping over a trickle of foul-looking liquid as you enter or leave. A rubber link mat might sort that. McKays is a complex of bar/restaurant, ice cream stand, fish and chip shop and there's a townhouse across the road, so it's not quite a small family run business. The above sounds overly negative but to summarise, our room was excellent, some issues were sorted very quickly, and the central location is hard to beat. Car parking would be the only deal breaker in terms of our returning.

The room was amazing, lovely big comfy super king bed and huge bathroom. The imcluded breakfast was also great. Only drawbacks are the live music at the weekend is extremely noisy and goes on till around midnight. The street noise can also be an issue with the window open which you will want as the room can get quite hot. Overall, very nice place but the lively surroundings bring it down a notch.

The room I was assigned to was in a property across the street from the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, but was on the third floor with no elevator. Luckily, the gentleman that checked me in helped me get my luggage up the stairs, unfortunately, I was on my own when checking out. As a single, 64 year old woman, this was a struggle. Breakfast was included and was excellent, as was the staff serving in the dining room. McKays is conveniently located near the train station and bus stops, mega shopping and dining options as well as the Pitlochry Festival Theater.

great place in the middle of the town Decent food if a bit ordinary, but OK. Great staff This place tends to be open when others are not so worth remembering for a room. They also have a fish and chip restaurant next door which i think i should have tried instead. do look around the town - Drink Monger is well worth a visit.....

First time in this Hotel, super welcome from a new receptionist with the most lovely smile. Room was very modern, clean and spacious. Breakfast.... A great variety of options. We would certainly stay there again and would thoroughly recommend.

After looking at the site, the hotel looked clean, fresh and the rooms looked well decorated ansld comfortable. However, on arrival, we were told on check in that the room we had booked was off-site, across the road in what was clearly an old restaurant. This was apparent with the door mat, decor and disused kitchen that was unlocked. Nowhere on the Hotels.com site did it state this room was offsite, just described as the Sozia room which we took as the room name... not the other building. The room was dirty, damp, the chipwood wallpaper around the cery small window was coming away from the wall, and the wardrobe wasn't anchored to the wall, resulting it tipping forwardn when weight was added. The bathroom was unsafe with the towel radiator right next to the toilet, so you would scold your leg on it if you needed the bathroom. Very dissapointed, and after a 9hour drive, was not expecting this, especially given the images on the website. We were booked in for 2 night, but left after 1. The bed had no headboard, so the pillows kept falling behind the bed. The receptionist tried to offer us an alternate room for the 2nd night, but the whole experience left us quite upset and we moved hotel.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Pitlochry. Easy check in and the room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. The bar/restaurant was popular and the food and service were excellent. We didn't book but I would advise booking during the busy season to ensure that you get a table. The breakfast was also very good with a wide selection available.

Incredibly disappointed and upset with the quality of our room. We were sent to the townhouse across the street which was easy to find. The room itself needs MAJOR upgrading. The carpets look like they haven’t been cleaned, the bathrooms are tiny and need cleaning as well, there was only a tiny bed sheet separating us and the stained mattress. Not to mention we booked this room (1 bed and 1 bunk bed) so we could have more than 1 bed but since the bunk bed was shaking on the way up (and we are 2 young girls - not very big) we had to share the 1 bed. The mattress was also firm so we both got a few hours of sleep at best. Limited plugs as well.

A very lovely hotel close to the train station, only took us 2 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. First impressions were great, food was good in the restaurant, then we got checked in, room was lovely. We stayed in room 207. Although the noise from the fans outside did keep us awake at night.That was with the window closed as well. The room did become quite warm as we could not sleep with the window open because of the noise outside. I wonder if there was any way that these fans could be covered? So that the noise is not affecting the sleep of customers. Apart from that could not fault our stay.

Booked this property at the last minute. The rooms were very spacious. The bed was comfortable. Our room overlooked the Main Street which was really cute. Parking was a little problem, but we worked it out. Breakfast was a great deal! There was a lot of noise from the bar below, but we used earplugs and it ended about 11pm. Would stay here again.

Room was nice and clean, a little difficult to plug in phones and such. Not a big deal. Accommodations were fine overall. Very unique hotel as we had to go up different flights of stairs and through NINE doors to get into our room. Became a bit of a game. The staff was very nice. The only negative (which did not cause an issue) was that the TV was not connected to a Wi-Fi network (tried unsuccessfully to connect) so could not get into Netflix. No way to call the front desk as there are no phones in the room and my cellular doesn’t like UK numbers. I didn’t want to trek through the maze to reception either. Probably for the best as we decided to read instead. That said, I do recommend this hotel.

On the surface, lovely hotel and bar. Our room was really nice - we paid for a bigger room and it was spacious. Everything is in a very good state of repair and really clean. However, it was directly above the bar, and so I only got about 5 hours sleep between the end service at the bar and the 5am restocking of the cellar. There is no advance warning of this! So, ask for a room away from the pub and you will be fine. Breakfast was ok, plenty of it, nothing special. Staff varied from nice to pretty grumpy. Central location was good too. On balance, i would stay here again, just request a quieter room.

I’ve stayed in rooms at the main McKay’s several times. Beware the fine print; this property now utilises the annex across the street, which is more akin to a marginal youth hostel. I arrived exhausted after 18 hours of travel only to find my room was the size of a walk in closet with a child-sized bed. My university dorm was twice the size. I reported my dissatisfaction with management who assigned me a larger room (that didn’t overlook rubbish bins) for the same price. The manager was very nice, other staff members (including restaurant) not as much. I hope things improve here as I visit Pitlochry every year and hope to stay at McKay’s again.

Check in was easy, carpark small so we had to park elsewhere. The room was tiny, we booked a small double, not expecting it to be as small as it was especially for the price for 1 night. Only 2 channels worked on the tv,it was also tiny, about the size of a laptop screen. Room quite noisy, heard music about 10pm and alot if banging. Food in restaurant really good, breakfast also nice. Would not book a small double again if we came back. Staff all really nice.

Nice hotel. Newly renovated. Ceilings are very low - if you over 6 feet, you may be uncomfortable. Shower is C- for UK. Very low water pressure. Arrived late so restaurant was closed.

Waited a long time to be checked in, staff weren't overly friendly (when I asked if someone was going to check me in I got no acknowledgement, the girl just shouted to someone else to help me). Room was nice enough but I think it was overpriced for what it is, I guess that's just the premium you pay for being right on the main street. Good location, very small car park so ended up parking a few streets away (parking in Pitlochry in general seems to be a bit of a mare). Not sure I'd be in a hurry to come back.
Waited a long time to be checked in, staff weren't overly friendly (when I asked if someone was going to check me in I got no acknowledgement, the girl just shouted to someone else to help me). Room was nice enough but I think it was overpriced for what it is, I guess that's just the premium you pay for being right on the main street. The hotel in itself is great, amazing rooms with excellent decor throughout. The bar is very pricey and the biggest dampener in our night there was interacting with the chap on reception at check in and check out. He was so lethargic and lackadaisical it was unreal. Took way too long to be checked in or out and asked multiple times for payment when it had already been paid through Hotels.com. Was very awkward and uncomfortable trying to explain this repeatedly with other customers within earshot.

Not as expected attick room which was at the end of what could only be described as a Rabbit warren. A new concept to me is they do not make up the room unless you ask no hot water or heating on second night Staff on the bar were very good not so sure about reception. Would not stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was lovely and good menu for dinner. Hotel very close to shops, transport etc. Great walks locally. Staff were excellent. Very friendly. Tall waiter was excellent (sorry didn't get his name) as was the receptionist. Have stayed there before and will stay there again.

The hotel doesn’t have an elevator. I stayed on the first floor. Actually, there is a corridor between the first floor and the carpark with a few steps only. However, the receptionist didn’t told me about that. She simply told me to carry the luggages through the normal entrance and go up one floor “ONLY” . No help had been offered and she clearly knew I got a car. Nowadays, it is not usual asking the lady customers to carry the luggages going upstairs

A very lovely hotel close to the train station, only took us 2 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. First impressions were great, food was good in the restaurant, then we got checked in, room was lovely. We stayed in room 207. Although the noise from the fans outside did keep us awake at night.That was with the window closed as well. The room did become quite warm as we could not sleep with the window open because of the noise outside. I wonder if there was any way that these fans could be covered? So that the noise is not affecting the sleep of customers. Apart from that could not fault our stay.

The accommodations were great, however there was a lot of noise from the street and the windows didn’t seal properly. Not a big issue, but could be better. Staff and food in the restaurant was excellent. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

McKays is situated right in the centre of Pitlochry, which means you can park your car and walk everywhere. The hotel overall is very well equipped, the rooms and restaurant are excellent, our rooms were very modern and really nice and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again 10/10.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Pitlochry. Easy check in and the room was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. The bar/restaurant was popular and the food and service were excellent. We didn't book but I would advise booking during the busy season to ensure that you get a table. The breakfast was also very good with a wide selection available.

Everything was great. The room was excellent. The food was amazing. With nice big plate fulls 😊 Staff were on top of all our needs. Only one complaint. Cashless. I'm not a fan of cashless businesses. Apart from that. The McKays Hotel and Restaurant was well worth it. Highly recommend 👌

We stayed for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. We stayed in the town house across from the main hotel. The room was large and comfortable. I think it had just been updated. The bathroom was small but servicable. The bed was large and comfortable. The breakfast had a huge selection and was cooked to order and therefore fresh and plentiful. We had dinner in the restaurant on the second night and it was well presented and tasty. The staff were were professional , friendly and helpful.

Fabulous gem in the centre of Pitlochry. We had the small double which was fine for the one night. My parents had the larger double & huge bed. Lovely Highland Soap toiletries in the toilets. The staff were really lovely and attentive. Fantastic breakfast the following morning. It would have been good to have the option of fresh fruit.

Very nice Inn on the main road through Pitlochry. You are right in the center of everything. Charming, with a labyrint of stars and Hallvarsson. Nice spacy rooms. Good food.
