The location is good and directly across from the main train station. Unfortunately, the hotel staff doesn’t speak English well, and trying to use them for anything was difficult. Likewise, the hotel was not flexible in the way a top hotel should be. Finally, the hotel has no public space other than the lobby - no lounge or sitting area or business center. I needed to do a work call at 1030 pm and ended up in my room, despite my wife being asleep.

Convenient location and room is clean and spacious. Gym unfortunately is below par. I expect better gym facilities than this. To be fair, I only used the treadmill. The spotlight is right on top of each treadmill, making it really hot and too bright for anyone’s comfort. No one manning the gym even though I was there at 630pm. So I couldn’t turn up the air conditioning. The treadmills were also all in japanaese, making it less tourist friendly. Other than that, it is an excellent hotel at a superb location. Staff are friendly and speak decent English.

A fabulous hotel newly refurbished. Very comfortable beds and rooms, superb service and very good quality food. Extremely convenient to Kyoto station (about 3-5 mins walk) dependent on your exit. Great gym and spa. Recommend allowing a little extra time for your breakfast as hotel is always full and consequently busy.

Next to train station but felt a million miles away. Luxurious. We had spa treatments which were sophisticated and excellent. Breakfast was a step above - beautifully arranged, we ordered avocado toast and it was presented beaufifully. Remaining foods were also upscale.

Very close to Kyoto Station so very central. Excellent gym. The design makes the hotel enclosed with no natural light. There is no proper lobby area. There is no business facility to help with printing and scanning a document. Only 2 restaurants which were mostly unavailable without a reservation.

Solid hotel with ups and downs. Beautiful lobby area. Corner room had excellent features (e.g. remote, automatic window coverings) but wasted walkway space. Generally nice decor with some blemishes (e.g. worn hallway carpeting). Close to busy train station, but otherwise just OK location. Unaware of amenities and little interaction with staff. Overall positive stay but will seek better value on next trip to Kyoto.

The pillows and bedding smelled like it had been sweat all the way through by multiple people. It was foul. They need to wash the bedding more often and get more breathable fabrics. It was close to impossible to eat at this hotel. The restaurants were supposedly booked with reservations while there were multiple tables open. Even the bar didn’t serve food into the dinner hours. Reservations can only be made 2-3 days in advance. We ended up ordering a cheese plate via room service that consisted of essentially 3 tiny lumps of possibly expired cheese. It was the most pathetic cheese plate as cheese lovers we have ever seen. Heavily over priced with terrible cheese and no bread or crackers. We ended up not even wanting to eat the cheese it was so disgusting. Luckily, we ended up finding many wonderful cheeses all over Japan after this terrible experience. Finally, it is worth knowing that this hotel overlooks a graveyard that is next door.

This hotel is well-located both for transportation and dining near Kyoto Station. The common areas are elegant and artistic and the rooms comfortable and quiet. It had one of the best shower areas I’ve ever experienced. The AC temperature was a bit challenging to control and the lighting is, as in most of Japan, complicated. There were dirt marks on the walls. The staff, though welcoming and polite, could be a little better informed (front desk receptionist gave us inaccurate information regarding our package and room maids seem confused about dirty v clean glasses and wash clothes ). Still, I’d stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful. Room was spacious, clean, modern. Staff from the front desk to the coffee bar, every single one who we interacted to were kind, polite and helpful. Hotel location is just few steps to Kyoto station. It is a truthly 5 stars hotel. We strongly recommend it to our extended family and friends. This will be our hotel every time we are in Kyoto.

What a spectacular property. Not what you would expect literally next to the train station. Beautiful lobby and rooms, the latter spacious and high-tech. Most comfortable bed in Japan. Was definitely worth the splurge!

Stunning design, beautiful and subtle use of color. The lobby art makes an immediate impression. Rooms were very beautiful. Service was prompt and attentive - there were always plenty of staff at the front desk, they were able to help with travel planning amongst other things. 2 restaurants, Japanese or American - I chose Japanese for breakfast and was treated to a formal dining experience. A great way to stay at a high-end hotel while feeling you were in a real Japanese environment. Also - incredibly convenient to Kyoto station (2 minute walk), with all the food options / travel coordination that brings, but was not noisy at all on the 17th floor. Heads up that since this not an international chain, some amenities / US standards that I took for granted were not there - very limited TV & cable channels, gym was not 24 hour, breakfast not until 7. Spa was pretty. Neither the spa or the gym have windows (gym in basement), minor detail.

We stayed at Thousand Kyoto hotel which is conveniently located near Kyoto station. It’s easy to transport your luggage to train station. The staff members are all quite young and have limited proficiency English. Unfortunately, we were assigned to a room on the 9th floor. We struggled to get a good night sleep due to the train noise, as there were no soundproofing in the room. The train noise persisted into morning hours until the trains stopped at 12:15am.

My family stayed here for five days. Location is extremely convenient as it's a block away from Kyoto station. We arrived on the shinkansen from Tokyo and it was an easy five minute walk from the exit of the station. Rooms were large by japanese standards. We had two beds and a little couch for a sitting area. Service was also excellent. Everything from checking in, welcoming you back every day, receiving and sending luggage transferres were all done seamlessly. Would definitely stay again when in Kyoto again.

My family and I are extremely unhappy with our stay at the hotel for the following reasons (from most to least serious): 1. The hotel provide a baby crib for my son, which broke in the middle of the night. My son was very scared, cried for 1.5 hours after keeping the rest of us up for hours and we were all shattered for our touring the next day. Thankfully, my son was not injured. A replacement crib was provided further to our request. 2. The hotel booked a car for us to Osaka, which required the booking of a baby car seat for a 1-year old in accordance with Japanese law. No car seat was provided with the car and instead of being apologetic for the mistake, the manager on duty said we needed to pay more for a car seat, did not want to appreciate the seriousness of breaching Japanese law, wasted 1 hour of our time, did not apologize or provide us with an appropriate discount for the mess. He just didn’t seem to care or want to be helpful. No car seat was provided in the end. My family and I are extremely aggrieved by all of this. 3. The bellboy asked for our help to handle our own luggage, and didn’t have the power to handle it. We had to get involved on a basic hotel service. 4. The closet drawers were misaligned and didn’t open or close properly. The staff fixed this upon request. 5. Requesting a late checkout was a big deal and we were asked to pay more for a 1-hour extension. 6. Room not cleaned, had to request it several times.

Kenji-san provided exceptional service from start to finish. He greeted us and offered to store our bags as we arrived before the check-in time. When we returned he recognised us and the process to get our room was easy. We were served by Kenji-san again on our check-out and asked about our stay. Absolutely impeccable. I enjoyed the fitness room and having the water replenished every day. The use of IPad to control temperature, curtains, lighting and to call for hotel services was unique. Thank you to the staff member who had to come to my room at 11pm to give me hard pillows. Will definitely come back again!

Loved this hotel in every way - the concept, the experience, the service, room size, quality of sheets/bedding, and bath! Only downside is if you don't get the room rate inclusive of breakfast, the charge for breakfast is exorbitant. So we didn't get a chance to have breakfast at the restaurant this time. Wish they offered ala carte!

The property is new, clean, and is conveniently located close to Kyoto station. The breakfast wait was ridiculous. They were always overwhelmed and the employees' English was poor, so communicating them was very hard. There are 3 elevators for the entire hotel, so you can wait for over 5 minutes for a lift. Overall, it was disappointing.

We really liked the room and the lobby. The way the bathroom is setup was especially impressive. The location was very convenient to get to and travel from. The only thing we weren't as into was the breakfast. The staff were excellent and incredibly friendly. I would definitely come back.

The hotel was elegant and breathtaking. My daughter enjoyed the magical stairs. All the staff was kind and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. And it was nice to have either American buffet or Japanese breakfast as our options to start our day perfectly.
