Sehr neue Ausstattung, tolle Gemeinschaftsküche mit allem was man braucht. Die Unterkunft lag für uns praktisch auf unserer Route und nah zum schwarzen Strand. Es gibt eine Bar mit kleinen Snacks die wir aber nicht benutzt haben. Es stehen dreielei Wasserspeier zur Erfrischung bereit mit Früchten darin. Es gibt einige Duschen und Toiletten, zusätzliche noch separate Waschbecken und Spiegel die mit Föhnen ausgestattet sind. Man kann im Erdgeschoss gemütlich beieinander sitzen. Wir haben in einem Schlafsaal übernachtet, etwas hat es uns gewundert dass wir das Zimmer nicht abschließen konnten. Auch war der Haupteingang die ganze Nacht offen und dabei die Rezeption unbesetzt, das hat uns etwas unsicher fühlen lassen.

This is a dorm, which is OK, but the organisation is not great. The space in the rooms to have your bag(s), shoes, etc is very, very limited, and not not associated with each bed, so if you arrive late all the spots are taken. The kitchen is too small for the number of guests. Sound echos in the common space and it gets very noisy if there are a few groups all talking at once.

the barn is a great stay near vik. we had a private room bathroom and we loved it. we still used the kitchen, which is also well equipped and big enough for everyone. there is a bar as well which has an happy hour and pretty reasonable prices for food regarding iceland :))

The Barn had a wonderful atmosphere! Beautiful lobby and common areas. The kitchen was fully stocked and quite large with a beautiful view through the large window. We would definitely stay here again if in the area!

There are unknown black dirt on our bed linens when we arrived. We felt itchy after sleeping for one night. There is only a rain shower but no movable shower head in the shower (though there is a holder for the shower head). Just shows how little efforts they made in this place. The room is insanely cold. The heater is too small for the high ceiling.

Our March stay was nice. The double room with shared bathroom was comfortable. It was quiet during the quiet hours. The flavoured water at the front was a nice touch. Check in was easy. Plenty of parking available. The downstairs lounge had comfy seats to lounge and hang out in. More guests should use the bath mats provided to keep the shower floors dry. The kitchen area and bathrooms are cleaned daily by staff.

Great spot for exploring the area! Having the bar downstairs was excellent, the kitchen was well stocked and roomy enough for multiple people to cook at a time, and the views were great! Bathrooms were mostly clean but were frequently out of TP/paper towels. Overall a great stay!!

First time staying in a hostel, super clean and tidy. Everything is well kept, nicer than a lot of hotels we stayed in in Iceland. Felt save and other visitors were considerate in our shared room. The only complaint was the heat. The shared bunks have a curtain you pull to keep light out ( lights in the room are always on) but it makes the bunk insufferably hot. Great environment but wouldn’t stay there again based on that alone, woke up sweating throughout the night. A fan in each cubby would make a world of difference (the heat was completely off in the room)

The Barn was a great place to stay along our trip, my friend and I shared a double bed in a shared room, only complaint was how hot it got on the top bunk for both of us, otherwise it was not a bad place to stay! They also have a bar that is open until 11pm and serves a small selection of snacks, like chicken tenders and jalapeño poppers that were perfect when we were out all day and restaurants were closed by the time we got back to town around 10pm

We had the private room and bathroom and it was more like a luxury hotel than any hostel we could imagine. Comfy beds and a rain shower! Also conveniently located just up the road from the Black sand beach and a short drive into Vik. Beautiful views from the room as well! Would highly recommend

The location being right next to the black sand beach and an 8 minutes drive to Vík made this very convenient to end the day. The bunk beds to the shared bedroom were full-double in size and the thick curtains were nice to get some privacy and block light. Kitchen was equipped adequately. Everything was clean, no big complaints! A laundry room/service would’ve been nice, but there wasn’t one as far as I know.

Things I wish I knew before booking this HOSTEL: - there is nowhere to lock your things. The doors to the dorms don’t have locks, and there are no lockers anywhere. - it’s not really walk-able to Vík. It’s a long highway with almost no shoulders to walk on, no lights and really strong wind. - the kitchen is really nice. there’s no hot water for dishes, but there’s two sinks, two ovens, and tons of dishes and cookware. - the reception desk was not very friendly. It might have been one person having a bad day, but it wasn’t a great first introduction to the hostel. - if you’re looking for a very social hostel you might be a little dissapointed. There’s a little socialization, but less than I’ve had at other places. - I recommend renting a car if you’re staying her or in the area. You CAN bus, but it would really suck. - all the dorms are have double beds and honestly they’re so comfy. They have privacy curtains that block out all the light even if other people are awake.

Beautiful, peaceful, quiet location and a view of a glacier and the ocean. Close to Black Sand Beach and Vik amenities. Clean and stylish common areas. Good kitchen although there were no freezers available for guests. We had a private room. It was clean, but worn out in places. The bed was uncomfortable and sloped to the center as if people only slept in the middle of the bed. The door was very difficult to lock and unlock. The woman working the front desk was not helpful and was curt when asked basic property related questions. It was expensive for what it was.

The Barn was our second place we stayed in Iceland, and it was superb! The king room was spacious and clean as well as very modern! I loved the shower and all of the lighting and especially the covers that could be brought down to reduce the light from the windows and doors. The staff was amazing and laundry service was also worth it! We played games and drank at the bat and it was a happy and overall fun experience!

Nous avons eu un séjour incroyable à cet endroit! Localisation exceptionnelle à quelques minutes de la plage noire et du charmant village de Vik, l’hostel était propre, pratique et le personnel sympathique. We stayed in a private room with a private bath at The Barn outside of Vik for 2 nights on our trip around the ring road in early October. The location is beautiful and is super close to Reynisfjara Beach. Great location for viewing the northern lights which we saw both nights we were there! It was a short drive into the town of Vik. This was our favorite hotel of our entire 2 week trip in Iceland and we would definitely stay there again!

The bed was very comfortable and private with the curtains. The upstairs kitchen/common area is a good touch to step away from the bar area. Also got to see the auroras just outside the front door! Overall it was cozy and I was very pleased and would stay here again.

The property is in a great location. Very short drive to Vik, and the black sand beach, which also has a restaurant. It is also away from lights and we were able to see and get great pictures of the northern lights!! The design is modern and trendy. The bar has great drinks and snacks. Breakfast was delicious. I loved the feel like I was at a friends house hanging out. There are games, cards, books, etc available for use. There is a projection tv that had a soccer game on when we arrived. Lots of places to sit and hang out in the lobby. Room was very comfortable and quiet.

Paid a hefty price for a place that has no available receptionist in the morning for checkout and no breakfast. The bar is loud and disturbing to guest rooms. Common bathrooms and kitchen do not make up for the price by any stretch.

the barn is a great stay near vik. we had a private room bathroom and we loved it. we still used the kitchen, which is also well equipped and big enough for everyone. there is a bar as well which has an happy hour and pretty reasonable prices for food regarding iceland :))

The Barn was a great place to stay along our trip, my friend and I shared a double bed in a shared room, only complaint was how hot it got on the top bunk for both of us, otherwise it was not a bad place to stay! They also have a bar that is open until 11pm and serves a small selection of snacks, like chicken tenders and jalapeño poppers that were perfect when we were out all day and restaurants were closed by the time we got back to town around 10pm

A very nice property. Pretty expensive for a hostel, but par for the course in the Vik area. Our room was very comfortable and the food in restaurant/bar was tasty and reasonably priced. Would gladly stay here again.

This place is super nice and modern, very clean and nice facilities. There is also a bar offering food (pizza, wings, etc) for relatively cheap compared to the rest of iceland. The place is right by reynesfjara beach so it is a perfect location close to vik. Loved it here.
