Holiday Inn Express & Suites - San Jose Airport by IHG

Great hotel. Updated and clean with a water refill station in the lobby which we really use a lot and it had fantastic water. Hated having to pay an extra $10 to park…such a rip off when there’s a big half-empty lot.

Parking lot too small

Parking was impossible. Zero parking spaces for registered guests

We've stayed at this hotel many times and the service and quality of the rooms has always been excellent. This trip there was just one problem. The elevator was not working properly the entire time we stayed at the hotel. It would get stuck or go to the wrong floor.

The staff during check in was nice, but come the day we had to leave Johannah the front desk was super rude, belittled me when i had a simple question. Online says a heated pool, we took the kids for a swim and what do you know, no heated pool....bathroom in the pool area VERY dirty.

I chose this location for convenience to get to an early flight. Free shuttle was advertised and not available. Paid an extra 45 dollars to get 2 miles to the airport. Also, they put me on 5th floor with broken elevator.

I have 2 autistic toddlers who love to swim. We frequent many Holiday Inn soley to getaway for a bit and SWIM. This pool was FREEZING. Not a swimable temperature at all. The water wasn't the kind of cold you get used to, no, no you stay cold. . My older son would not get in and my younger son got in but was shivering the whole time. When requesting a temperature ncrease- they awkwardly shook their heads and said there was nothing they could do- it is whatever temperature the room allows it to be.....okay??? An indoor pool , especially Holiday Inn, should be a family friendly amenity. Also, It took my kid awhile to warm up, because the room didn't have a bath and he refused a shower. I really wanted to like this place because we love finding new locations to hang out and swim for a couple days, but we will not be going back. We have plenty of options. I couldn't care less about anything else the hotel offered. People need to know - if you go there planning to swim, it is VERY COLD. I tried to get compensated for our second night, but they denied my request. Maybe I'll start doing the protection thing. Hope this review of the freezing pool helped you decide if this is the right place for you.

This is now the fourth time we've stayed at this establishment. While we've always enjoyed the free breakfast and parking, this trip was met with surprise when we were charged $10 for parking. While we were disappointed by the $10 fee, we will say that the fee was very low compared to other hotels in the area, BUT that's what kept us coming back to this particular hotel was the FREE parking. I hope the management changes their parking situation in the description so that guests won't be surprised by the charge.

Carpet (corner of the room and around bed area has dead spiders and insects with lots of dust) as if room wasn’t vacuum for a while. Room was a dirty. We slept on the bed but didn’t use the bedding or blanket. If you flush the toilet you can hear gurgles in the shower drain. It’ll be our first and last time staying here.

Hotel was mostly nice. Breakfast was good & the bed was comfortable. It was dirty in the room with old hair on the bathroom walls & toenail clippings on the ground. /: elevator inspection also expired in 2022.

We had bed bugs in our hotel room and found them the night before checking out! We had never had this kind of nightmare experience and hotel management let us know they did not know how to handle this. They initially told us that Hotels.com was responsible for handling this as we paid you directly then were told a manager would contact us and though hotel relations has taken our information down at least on two occasions over this situation and has told us they would have them contact us, this has not happened. This has been traumatic and costly for us. I have lost sleep, clothing, personal items, toiletries, purchased gifts and have had to pay more than $70.00 in purchasing insecticides and things are STILL not resolved.

Both the floor and carpet were stained and very dirty. The walls also had a lot of scratches/marks on them. I won’t stay here again.

Very comfortable and conveniently close to Airport. Beds were awesome. Sheets and towels were clean. Hot coffee and excellent breakfast choices.

We stayed here for 7 nights. The staff are all awesome. The hotel is very clean. The cleaning ladies are always cleaning our room; it always smelled good. We will certainly stay here again if we will be in the area.

It was very excellent and the cleanliness was top notch. My room was fixed and clean every day for five days. Really enjoyed it and the morning breakfast. Awesome….

Paper thin walls .. you can tell it’s not a true holiday inn express quality. The walls were so thin that we could hear people walking in the hallway all night and above us.

Noise was unexceptional from the elevator machine room. Staff notified me after calling to inquire about the noise and said oh yes you are in the worst room for that. And it was 100% occupancy so was unable to move. Did not sleep at all. Terrible

The room is very spacious and clean. Our family has fun staying here. The only thing is this location is very close to cal train/bart track. A bit noisy when the train pass by.

The room was very dark. Need better lighting. Can’t believe you charge for parking. Limited eating places so I had to order DoirDash. The one in Sunnyvale is nicer.

Have stayed at Holiday Inn Express many times and always enjoyed it. This time, not so much. At check-in they put a $50.00 charge on your card. Normal, and told it will be refunded at check-out. At check-out was told I would be receiving $40.00 to allow for the parking charge. Parking charge? At no time was that ever mentioned. Stayed on the floor. Wanted some ice. Third floor? Nope. Machine broken. Fourth? No again, apparently the same reason. Finally on the fifth a working machine. Elevators not working properly. When I went to go to the upper floor, the door opened to a lady with a small baby who had been waiting 5 minutes for the door to open, basically stuck. My calling the car opened the door for her. Car was indicating "UP" but went down to 1 after I pushed 4, never opened the door and proceeded up to 4. Had to go to 5. Door didn't open automatically but need a push on the "door open" button. The second elevator, which had been out of service most of the day, started working. A group of us stepped in and the car dropped about two inches before the door closed. Unsettling. While the bathroom was clean, it didn't look like the floor had been cleaned for quite a while. Air conditioner was very loud and trying to change settings didn't help. Sound like sour-grapes, but this was literally the first time I have had a bad experience with one of these hotels.

Hotel is located right by the airport and surrounding sports stadiums. We picked it due to it's proximity to the light rail. That was also it's downfall. Make sure you get a room far away from the road as the train comes every 10 minutes even overnight. That kept us up all night and woke us up real early in the morning. Id stay there again but just make sure to get a room at the back.

Very comfortable room and bed and good breakfast. However the light in the bedroom was minimal…weak bedside lights and no ceiling light. Reading a real book (compared to a kindle) in bed is a no-go. Also no dinner options in walking distance other than a mediocre Denny’s.

Large rooms, clean and comfortable

Staff was lackadaisical. Room was okay but dark and 2 of my lights didn't work. Had no idea that there was no smart tv so stuck without streaming. At 6:45 the breakfast room was not open. Parking shouldn't be a separate fee.

We had an issue with towels when we stayed. While we were out one day, some came into our room and removed two of the towels that we had used and were hanging in the bathroom for reuse. They only left 2 towels. We had 3 people staying in the room. When we called to get towels they told us they did not have any and that we could get some the next day after 7 am. We had to be up and out of the room by 6 am as we were there for a volleyball tournament so definitely needed towels. I had to call the front desk after my mom had walked down there to get towels and was told no, to tell them that we had to have towels. They then brought some to our room 30 minutes later. The whole situation bothered me, because the towels were removed from our room, but no other room service was done on our room, i.e. the beds were not made, so it appeared that they had came specifically for towels and why take towels that were hanging that we were planning on using. The night time desk lady, was not overly welcoming. In the morning when we went to get coffee, she was on her cell phone, not talking but watching or playing something and would not even look up. We someone told her there was no coffee in the pits, she said someone will come out soon. But she never looked up from her phone.

Had a wonderful stay. Was upgraded to a balcony room. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was very friendly. Will definitely chose this hotel again for future stays in San Jose!

The desk clerk Alba was amazing and very helpful

We rented 3 rooms and wanted to all be on the same floor. There is no direct phone number listed on the internet to call ahead of time for the request. After calling the generic phone number, I was sent to 4 different departments until I was given the phone number to the hotel, only to be told by the hotel manager that we needed to stop by the hotel to make the request but could not check in at the time. It was time we didn’t have on this trip but needed to make time. Then we needed to drop everything and head back to the hotel to retrieve the room keys at 3pm so all three rooms could be on the same floor. We stayed for 3 nights and needed to request at the front desk to have the rooms made with clean towels, only to have one room not have house keep accommodations. Room 415 had ants in the bathroom and it smells.

Never made it due to a flight being delayed 18 hours and they wouldn’t help make it right aweful front desk

I arrived after 11pm due to a late flight. When I walked in there was no one there to check me in. I waited there ten minutes before someone came back to help me. After checking in I asked for a water and he said “no that’s only for platinum members”, I then asked him what I am, he again stated it was only for platinum members, I asked him four times and he said the same thing, never telling me what I was. I’m guessing he couldn’t spare the .25c water to a person he left standing there for ten minutes. Most hotels I stay at give you water at the front desk, maybe also cookies etc. Big fail.

Fast and friendly staff

I tried to check in but was told the cost was much higher and I should register online. I did and then they could not find the reservation. I asked if I registered with them and paid the higher amount, would they reverse the charge if I was double billed (by them and you). They said no, they would not refund the double billing. So, I went across the street to another hotel. The staff was rude.

The staff was outstanding in their friendliness, and helpfulness. I will always pick this hotel when I have to go to San Jose again. I really enjoyed the stay.

Staff is beyond pleasant and helpful. VTA transportation is convenient.

Stayed for a concert at Levi stadium. We drove our car to the stadium but you can totally catch the tram. There is a stop right out front of hotel. Nice hotel even though we did not spend much time here. Not may restaurants near by.

The property was clean quiet and a very short distance to San Jose airport. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was great to have the airport shuttle.

This hotel was very nice and very clean. The staff were all friendly. They had a security person patrolling the parking lot at night. The only complaint I have is that our room faced the street where the Light Rail System ran through, it was louder than the planes departing the airport near by. I am unable to rate other features of the hotel such as the pool, dining/food, etc., as we literally just used our room. I would definitely stay here again.

Easy access to airport

Very comfortable stay. Hotel was very clean, quiet and friendly staff. Breakfast was right on point. Coffee was superb.

The hotel was clean and safe, which is a priority when traveling with my family. The only critique I have about this property was that the breakfast was not very good. I try to book hotels where breakfast is included because of the convenience. I had just come from another Holiday Inn in Santa Cruz, where no items were missing or lacking. At this property, they were out of the fruit loop cereal and their pancake maker was broken. My kids are picky and those were the two items they will eat for breakfast. We had to go out to eat each morning of our stay because of this, which defeated the purpose of choosing a hotel where breakfast is included.
